Sony to develop video game based on Kung Fu Hustle |

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has announced that its Taipei-based SOGA studio together with Shanghai Northstar is developing a game based on the movie "Kung Fu Hustle".
Players should be able to encounter familiar characters from the movie such as the Landlady, the Sidekick, Sin, among others. The video game should feature a branching story mode, and players should be able to hone their Kung-Fu skills by challenging a host of wacky enemies across China.
The game should also have a versus mode that should allow for eight players to fight against each other in multiplayer mayhem. There are also plans to allow players to purchase extra lives and virtual items in exchange for cash.
It was said that the game will be designed specifically for the Chinese market. We are hopeful though that we'll be able to get a subtitled version. Or even better, we hope that we'll get a badly dubbed version, complete with mismatched voice-timing.
While we're eager to see Stephen Chow in a video game, some Kung-Fu fans here at QJ are sort of wishing that the movie "Shaolin Soccer" also gets the same treatment.
The press announcement did not clarify for which platform the game will be made. Given that note on possible microtransactions for the game, we speculate that a PS3 release is likely. We'll update you as soon as more details are made available.

Really? Wow. I guess it could be good. I loved those movies, but i'm really surprised that a videogame tie in would be announced so long after the movie's been released. Maybe its really popular in japan I dunno.
FYI, there was an Shaolin Soccer game released, but it's pretty old, I guess about 3 years ago...

Although I love Kung Fu Hustle (it's one of my favorite movies), I never buy games based on movies, and I can't really imagine this being a great game.
Shaolin Soccer has much more room for flexibility. Kung Fu hustle was a great movie, but you can only go so far with that IP...
the game would be like the Chinese version of Dead Head Fred!!!
i loved that film i could whatch it again and again and again it is the awesome, fantastic, brilliant it made all my friends laugh and my family, i loved. please do, i would buy it. lol i hope they do am i reapeating myself
isn't god hand a little bit like kung fu hustle... if so this could make a cool game. also, i love things which get larger than life like this film did, it's all so anime-esque... this can only be a good thing.

Shaolin Soccer was so much better than Kung Fu Hustle
Awesome, I loved the movie, but I don't know if it will make a good game?!.. I agree Shaolin Soccer would be better, with its wacky superhuman soccer action potential. Oh well, I hope it turns out well.
