Sony restructures, PS Network to be integrated into other Sony products |
Ó
Although Sony's suffering a financial crisis, it really won't be
accurate to say that the company's in bad shape. It's still a billion
dollar company after all. But its current state does demand some changes, and it looks like Howard Stringer is the one to lead the charge. He's taken up the title of President to add to his already long list of titles, and under his reign Sony will be undergoing a major organizational change.
The PlayStation group is, of course, included. According to the press release from Sony, PS boss Kazuo Hirai will become the Executive VP of the Networked Products and Services Group, but will continue on in his role as President and Group CEO of SCE.
Hirai will be consolidating the PlayStation group, the VAIO group, Walkman products, and Sony Media Software and Services. The goal is to have all of these products gain common access to the Playstation Network. Nice huh.

very cool glad Sony is doing this unlike MS which completly SUCKS right now with the prices of the OS's they put out.
Around $180 for vista ultimate seems like a rip off.
Why not get a real OS from a real company like Apple and stop paying that demon bastard and his boyfriend Ballmer.
$12 for any vista seems like a rip off.
Live is in hundreds of thousands devices in the world.
Vista only sucks on an outdated PC with outdated accessories.
Really wasn't expecting this. I wonder how this will work, and what the store will evolve to.
Im sure that when apple grow some ballls and create there operating system so that you dont need to pay for an overpriced piece of metal many people would.
Mind you you cant beat linux for price
The problem I've always had with buying an online product (like DLC) is the fact that once you've bought it, you can't sell it. I really doubt they ever would but I wish they would come up with a "used" DLC market or a trade center where people could off-load DLC they don't want anymore.
actually I can think of a way they could profit from that, maybe they could allow people to trade DLC for a fee, like $1.00 or something. Again, I doubt they'd do it since it'd keep people from paying full price for it but I wonder if it wouldn't draw more people in if they had that option.
wat r u toking about live in in hunders of thousands devices in the world? how many thing did microsoft actually make? comp hardware, software, xbox, and that mp3 player. thats it?
Now if sony would do that, lol, it be in phones, tv's, blu rays, vaios, psp's, walkman mp3's - all get on psn... now that would be a true PLAYSTATION NETWORK
You call what Apple produces a REAL OS? I'd rather use something which can actually run useful things without the use of "bootcamp" or whatever.
That Sucks i wish We would all be able to pay microsoft and play ps3 games AND Xbox360 games on the same server
Imagine the Fanboy vs fanboys matches
