SonicStage - Image 1

Over at the Sony CONNECT website, there is an announcement that SonicStage Version 4.2, an application that allows you to access the CONNECT Music service, is now available for download.

Given all the wonderful workarounds that the homebrew community has developed to empower their handheld, we're not quite sure you're going to appreciate it. The release of the new version of the application though, is itself newsworthy. Perhaps some of you may find technical uses for it or whatnot? Of course, some of you seem to really like SonicStage for what it is, I mean, check out the comments on a report we did on it from way way back.

Anyway, to get the URL to the download site for the application, feel free to use our "Read" link below.

thsi ***** has been out a long ass time ago

Useful? You bet!

I use this program to rip all my CD's to Atrac3 Lossless so I can listen to all my music with good sound quality and smaller size.

converting

only one problem. more than half the time sonicstage does not produce the omgaudio folder with the files in it. it actually creates the hifi folder and control folder, with the genuine memory card. the bad thing is that the way you copy omgaudio does not work the same as hifi folder. if anyone knows how, that would be great, still havnt tried the faq with the cd yet, will let you know how that goes. http://my.qj.net/Converting-to-ATRAC3plus-for-Fake-Memory-Stick-Owners-/pg/49/aid/1232 HORRAY for DaRk_AlEx -the god of psp

the best music program ever

Finally, I've been waiting for this for a while I'm using Sony's music program since it was first released (as OpenMG) in 2000 with the MD
by databoy2k - 2007-01-18 19:58:43
Wow...

I SWORE OFF it in 2000 with the MD! LoL what on earth do you like about it? The format's clunky, the OMG interface was even worse, and all the while it stank of unadulterated user-hatred! Funny what people like and dislike. I turned my back on OpenMG (what a disaster of a program), played with SonicStage for a version or two, and went back to Winamp for everything BUT putting songs on my MD. --Databoy2k

sonicstage

sonicstage is the BEST, undisputed master of music encryption. You can shrink space without losing quality. This is why Sony puts Itunes to shame. Plus, you can actually get your music back off your sony device...Itunes doesn't let you get your music back onto your PC. It's the most retarded thing ever. Sonicstage may take a while to use, but it actually makes a lick of sense unlike itunes. I just don't buy that Auto sync crap. I DONT WANT MY ENTIRE LIBRARY ON THERE!!! A LOT OF MY LIBRARY SUCKS!
by - 2007-01-18 20:19:36
iTunes...

...has an option to turn autosync off...same with the Zune software. And I don't know how it doesn't let you put it on your PC. You rip or convert music with iTunes, it'll send them to the iTunes folder in the "My Music" folder. Similarly, the Zune software will send it to a "Zune" folder in "My Music"... Oh, and with iPods, you can search through it like a hard drive and put them onto your computer manually if they somehow don't show up... (same with the Zune, but it needs a registry hack to show up).

sonic stage is pure utter garbage
by - 2007-01-18 20:27:10
Well...

...don't know if it's garbage or not, I've heard it isn't good. Personally I'm just not trusting Sony not to shove spyware all over my computer with the program since that one CD spyware fiasco a year or two back...

th guy who wrote the note is an a$$

this program is the best thing for music, you can compress the song!!! I got a 1GB memory stick and I have my gameboy and nes games and all other stuff with my songs, so I need to comrpess em all!
by - 2007-01-18 20:41:37
Meh

Program would be better if it didn't encrypt songs but output pure at3. Sorry, already got that codec and do so through GoldWave.
by BULL3TPR00F - 2007-01-18 20:49:46
well

that had nothing to do with Sony Media Software, that was Sony BMG's fault...
by - 2007-01-18 21:09:06
Um...

This version has been out more than 4 months ago lol. Some say SS is crap and all but it has never failed me and I don't find it bad at all, it is a simple drag and drop program =/. I convert all my songs to Atrac3plus and in comparison sounds better/clearer than MP3. I just want Sony to include a EQ in the next version oh and of course, one thing that I have ALWAYS wanted....a customizable EQ on the PSP (would be nice to have, especially when I download audio podcasts thru it).
by CoBrA2168 - 2007-01-18 21:15:38
I actually like it

I use this program mostly just as a music library on my computer. Less disc space + almost as good quality as MP3's = perfection.

re:Sonicstage

pwnzar while i do prefer sonicstage, you can get music off your iPod via third party software (iDump).

.................

this program has been out for a while, and is the WORST most unstable peice of s**t i have ever used...... i likes my sony mp3 player, it was awsome, but the software let it down and made me my mp3 player..... i have ALOT of songs and it took me like 4 days just to import them.... is was slow, and kept crashing and closing itself down.
by - 2007-01-19 05:44:28
uh yeah so?

I have had a love hate relationship with sonic stage throughout the past 5 years or so. But, I love my minidisc player and atrac3 - and sonic stage's functionality has opened up quite a bit...

@ Databoy

You swore it off in 2000... guess that really means you don't have a clue what you are saying because you haven't used the product in 7 years... Find somewhere else to *****
