Every time is a good time to have freebies. So we reckoned, why not today? With that said, we're happy to announce that Sony just made its PSP Content Pack for the month of January available. To those of you who love their handhelds but somehow shun away the company, be informed that Sony releases free goodies for the PSP every now and then.

And take note, these are not just any kind of goodies. Among others, the download include behind the scenes videos, trailers, screenshots, and even exclusive interviews. Aside from PSP-related content, Sony sometimes throws in console related stuff so this is really jam-packed!

Oh crap God, we'll stop right here before we come up with even worse puns. The content pack for January is around 178MB and can be downloaded via the Read link below. It includes the following content:

Man, one of the reasons I bought a playstation and a playstation 2 was for the demo discs you could get with the official playstation magazine EVERY month. WTF

Its almost like Sony doesnt want the psp to succeed. They keep doing stuff to f*ck it up.

For instance, it should have had a Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy game available at launch. That would have almost guaranteed its success.

These "free" contents are nothing but advertisement from Sony. This is the kind of stuff a company would usually have to PAY to have ppl watch them. Now it's a big deal b/c it's free? Give me a break.

Then again, what else do you expect from Sony?

I'm not dissing Sony at all. Why are you people all pissy? I don't understand it. Sony delivered you the best! They make you pay for the handheld and then give you free games, ability to play Playstation games for free and all that, and you can only think of negatives. Tsk tsk.

I'm a little concerned about this line in the agreement:

"SCEA may retrieve information about a user’s hardware to identify the correct directories for deposit of the download. "

Does that mean they're collecting information about our firmware or something?

# Sony did what?kvadair 2007-01-18 10:23
Several problems here:

1. Many would argue that Sony did not give us the best because they did not give us the best games to play on the PSP (which IS primarily) a game system)!

2. Sony has never given free games unless you count the periodic demos.

3. Sony has never given the ability to play playstation games for free. That functionality was provided by Dark Alex in spite of Sony. Sony's plan was to sell you the games all over again after making you buy a PS3 and a PSP.

"..can only think of negatives." Well, sort of. There is one gigantic negative people are focusing on: the PSP is a game system that does not have a huge supply of good games, and Sony doesn't seem to be worried about it!

It means exactly what it says. If they didn't mention they check where to drop the files then someone would moan that they were doing "unauthorised accesses" to their PSP. Or as they would be more likely to say "OMG SONY AER HAX0RING MY PSP!!!111!"

# why?Guest 2007-01-18 10:56
If you all say that all these packs, games etc (at least some of u say it) are pieces of ***** then y wont u all just tell sony wat the average public thinks about these ( even though sony wont care) but still by making sony understand that us the consumers are not enjoying the current content that they have then maybe they will be smart enough to make things better in some way ( better games , MATCHING ACCESORIES.etc) but we actually have to show that we want change and not just expressing our oppinions in random forums. We have to go straight to the source :-)

i agree, sony are not delivering on the promise of the psp, these free packs just take up space on your mem-stick, game demos should be rollin out the door from sony, new games for new fw. with all the downgrading going on you'd think sony would try to make people upgrade and so produce more game demos

# Well you missed my point...Gadwin 2007-01-18 12:58
Yeah I meant to say with the help of DAX but yeah.

And Sony did give us free games. They made me a console which I could merely put an ISO on and play. If thats not free gaming, I don't know what is.

And the fact that Sony released the PSX games and DAX did his magic, means that Sony now gave us free PSX games on our PSP.

And there are great games for the PSP. Portable Ops was great, MGA was great, Loco Roco was great, a bunch of greatness. Now even more greatness, I can put any PSX game pretty much onto it.

Inform yourself before you attack....promotional videos for games and other products as well as DEMO's (which at least one is released a month) are all FREE on xbox live....so WTF are you talking about ? The only thing you pay for on live is to play against other people online, and premium content...

So no, this is not my dream, this is actually pretty weak compared to what you get on live.....

att shut up.

please shut up.

if they are trying to make people wanna buy games, cg movies arent the way to go. didnt they learn anything of their killzone video?????

games are exspensive, and money still aint growing on trees. so making great demos are a way of catching the youth's attention. and making them wanna buy their games. making a video is so far from actual gameplay, and it dont have the same effect.

if my writing is misspelled i'm excused from the fact that i'm a dane. og vi taler dansk og ikke engelsk, bøsserøve. ;-)
