Sony: No multiplayer in LittleBigPlanet PSP |
Ó
According to Mark Green, Senior Producer at SCEE Cambridge, they had to cut multiplayer out of LittleBigPlanet PSP in order to get it to work on the handheld:
The one thing we've lost is multiplayer. You've got full physics systems, you got full create mode, you've got all the aspects of LittleBigPlanet - you can upload, download, ad-hoc share with people - but we haven't got multiplayer. It's a trade-off. The system is physically capable of doing multiplayer, but perhaps not with the full physics system. On the technical side of things you lose a third of the processing power or a third of the system memory just to do multiplayer at all. With those limitations we couldn't achieve it.
This is a little bit disappointing if you asked me since multiplayer is a big part of the PS3 version. What do you think guys? Well, for the mean time, take a look at this new create mode trailer of the game.

Multiplayer added a lot of fun. I'll probably still buy this though.
It's going to be weird with it being only a single player game, but it's understandable. Sacrifices needs to be made if you want multiplayer and from what I noticed, Physics always takes the hit. If you notice in the source games, there's different physics that work in single player and multiplayer games. Back when there was no Synergy or obsideon (something, forgot what it was called.) There was a way to play co-op in HL2 but the physics was very wonky. All though it's obviously different engines, I just think it's suffering the same problem as that.
But I'll still enjoy it though. :3
Will it still have infrasture mode to download other people's level or not?????? pls answer!
this might push ppl from prob not buying the game but to download it since hey no multiplayer feature....?
It will
"The one thing we've lost is multiplayer. You've got full physics systems, you got full create mode, you've got all the aspects of LittleBigPlanet - you can upload, download, ad-hoc share with people - but we haven't got multiplayer."
Problem solved
they just lost half their sales.
At first I thought 'damn' but then I realised... I've NEVER played any PSP game in multiplayer except Syphon Filter Combat Ops which was boring probably because I didn't know anyone that I was playing against (and possibly the nature of the game). I want this just so I can play some LBP wherever I am. I can have the multiplayer when I get home.
No one should purchase this game if thats the case, LittleBigPlanet is based on multiplayer, so if they scrapped that, they scrapped alot of sales...
Absolutely retarded in my opinion, another A+ Win for Sony and Media Molecule...
Idiots.
I bet its possible they just want to make more money if they come out with a multiplayer add on.
It's reasonable if you think about it stupid hungry whores.
YOU OWN A PORTABLE SYSTEM! they give you awesome physics and a great game, but since you don't get everything you want you cry about it. this game looks awesome and i'll take the physics over playing with a bunch of babies like you online anyday.
You sir are an idiot, the game is BUILT on multiplayer, thats like release God of war without Kratos.. you are what we call ' fanboys ', just like the people that continue to buy Square Enix's *****ty final fantasy series considering the last GOOD one was 10...
MORONS.
I love lbp on ps3 but i rarely if ever actually play a level with other people, i just upload my own levels and play others peoples in solo mode, its gets too laggy otherwise, and if thats the case on a ps3 whats it going to be like on a PSP...
And I agree with whoever said its a portable system, the only time i can get on the internet with my psp is at home, but the idea is to take it out to places and i can never find an access point while im out, or if i do itll be password protected.
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OO!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
"(...) we couldn't achieve it."
Sony developers are n00bs D:
The funniest thing is multiplayer...
I wouldn't mind if multiplayer had less physics system...
I don't care about the absence of multiplayer, because much like "Yahtzee" Croshow, I don't have any friends to play a videogame with. Besides, didn't anyone read the article about portable owners being lonely? At least give Sony credit for really knowing the target audience of the PSP long before the university researchers did.
Besides, just how much do you think they can cram into a portable game with a 333mhz processor? The PS3 is tricked out with just about every technological bell & whistle that East Asians engineers have produced. Contrast that with the PSP which is a dumbed-down PS2 sans Emotion Engine. We're lucky we didn't end up with a LBP that looks like an Atari 2600 game.
As soon as Gamestop announces the pre-order incentives for LBP PSP, I am sooooo going there.
NOW IM DEFINETLY NOT BUYING THIS!!
THANKS FOR SCREWING EVERYTHING UP SONY!
IM GONNA GET FREE GAEMZ NAO!!
