1. Sony: Music Unlimited pricing is equitable and fair
2. MU on PS3

"If you just lay out the value proposition, £9.99 a month for six million songs, any time, anywhere, all of the time, it's not hard to do the math on that. That's two trips to Starbucks to have all the music in the world.

But users always want it to be less rather than want it to be more. This is a fairly established price point for this kind of offering in the market. We think it's equitable and fair."

He also remained confident that despite the initial reactions on the pricing, Music Unlimited will still be a success on the PSP. After all, it's been "quite successful" on the PS3.

"The PS3 user is, shall we say, more net savvy than others. They're already into the network via the PlayStation Network, which has been up for about three-and-a-half years. They understand that world and what you get when you go there and how to navigate that."

Ultimately, wants to be able to make your PSN ID as an access to everything PS, including Sony Bravia TVs and Android phones.

ten bucks a month for subscription still seems like a lot, don't you think? or are you cool with it?

Yeah, and to make Sony's comment justifiable, a majority of the subscription money would have to go to the artists. It's too bad Sony's pocketing most of that money. They don't tell you how big the artist's cut is for a reason.

Anyway $10 bucks a month isn't too bad I guess. Especially if you get to choose your songs. It caters to a certain crowd.

Why not support the artists using ad revenue?

I can stream pretty much any song I want on Youtube, which I can access on my PSTriple, so I don't see the point.

People pay 15 month to play a crappy game, that repeteive and get's boring, whats wrong with paying 10 bucks for music, most people will pirate there music anyway so it doesn't matter

for unlimited songs, not a bad price point. Maybe a couple bucks cheaper would be nice, but I agree that the artists need to get paid. Piracy is a cause of the economy as well, though the foolish pro-piracy people would never admit it.

I don't know how someone can't see the value in this. An album costs anywhere from 11-21 dollars. And if you buy an album every month, that racks up, just like this subscription. Netflix on the other hand gives you streaming movies, that you will never own, for 7.99 a month. $10 is extremely reasonable. Music is work, and it's an art form. Just because it's so easy to pirate and get it for free, doesn't mean it's right and okay for the artist to get nothing for their 2-3 year effort on writing the album and singing in the studio.

$10?
Really?

The average CD/Digital Download is $10 if you download 10 songs from "1 Compilation" eg. ""My World 2.0", "Born This Way" "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy".

Support the Artist....IF they're good!

There's one problem I have with this, its NOT all the music in the world, it might be current music and music from the past few years, but its not all the music, its not the internet, they dont put fan songs we like, they dont put game music we want to listen to, they don't put music from different and all languages, its not their fault, its just how it is, VERY limited. I would pay $15 or eve $30 if I can download all the songs I wanted. The thing for the piracy being one of the best sources of music, is because its easier to use, has ALL the songs you want and if you cant find it, trust me you wont find it. Though there is always a way, forums, foreign sites, etc. There'll never be one successful way to make money with music. Though there'll be some quite successful Im sure.

artist earn money from concerts and albums. Digital mp3 copies of their songs are even sometimes given away for free from their sites. So I don't see the point in this, if I'm going to spend money for songs I would prefer it to be on physical media complete with brochures/album art etc.

"so there has to be some way to reward them for their labour. It only seems fair."

but he failed to mention how much exactly goes to the artist, I mean come on that is just an excuse, they are also extorting money from this. Not unless they prove and show that majority of the income goes to the artist

It costs less than the zune pass so I would definitely call that reasonable.

They have nice answers at sony.
But does anyone really yhink that this money goes to the artists that made the music?
Do you really think sony calculates (total revenue/number of downloads) x one artist downloads = the money for the artist , or even a percentage of it?
Nope surree, this money will go into the pockets of sony.
