Sony: Lair's PS3-PSP connectivity is just the beginning |
Ó
A Sony technical insider told Pocket Gamer that "It's a nice start. Over time, I'm sure we'll have more advanced features." This is pretty exciting considering that it is technically possible to implement what the developers of the game have done to pretty much any game released, or slated to be released for the console.
We say technically because the developers already have all the tools they need in the Sony PS3 software development kit. Whether or not it is a good idea to do is another story. Jon Jordan, who wrote the article on Pocket Gamer, pointed out that the average home network latency is fine for a 30 FPS game. However, it will undoubtedly struggle when it has to handle games with faster frame rates, such as fighting games.
Expect the PS3 to PSP connectivity in games to be explored further in future games. Judging from the initial attempt at implementing it, this technology would appear to be perfect for turn-based RPGs and puzzle games.

just the bginning.. like final fantasy 7 remake at TGS for PS3! A reality...
Final Fantasy Tactics For PS3, Anyone?
no
I can play Killzone 2 in my office on my PSP thanks to remote play...will be a good day. Even though ill probably never actually get work done at work ever again.
They should think about adding little PSP compatible levels into the games where a second analogue stick and L/R2 are not needed but use the game engine so it looks great.
who cares not everyone that owns a ps3 owns a psp or the other way around
what is really the point? The game has to be run by a PS3, which already has fully functional wireless controllers. So other than being a slightly cool idea this really doesn't do much unless you simply can't stand to pause the game when the need arises to go drop a deuce...
would be good if your game character had a pda or some kind of scanner like in aliens film, or if collecting written clues in a game. Or for a poker game so you could see your cards on your psp. looking foward to seeing this in action.. jj
Just look it up on ebay. There's lots of people selling copies "only played once" for some reason.
you could play games while away from home. its like having the power of the ps3 in your pocket.
There will be no remake. Simple as that. RAWR
