The PSP also got  lot of love at GamesCom. One new game announced for the handheld was LocoRoco Midnight Carnival, a downloadable spin-off of the LocoRoco franchise. Yep, this one's PSN-only.

LocoRoco Midnight Carnival features 16 standard stages, two mini games, and three bonus stages. It also introduces a new super bounce called "Boing!" that lets player ricochet off walls. Adhoc co-op and competitive multiplayer are also supported.

And in case you were wondering, yes, this game can be played with the PSP Go closed. LocoRoco games have always been controlled mostly by the L and R buttons anyway. But what about splitting up the LocoRocos, which is bound to the Circle button?

Producer Tsubasa Inaba says that there's a "slightly different game design" for Midnight Carnival which doesn't require you to split up, although you still can. Stay tuned for further updates on this new downloadable title.

No splitting?

No splitting in Midnight Carnival? I hope it isn't going to become a total no-brainer.
