Sony condemns Gangs of London Leak |
Listed in: News, Titles, Games Tags: FTP, London, piracy, Sony
Gangs of London is
one of the most anticipated titles of the summer.Using the same free-roaming
type gameplay as Grand Theft Auto, Gangs of London brings you to the underworld
of London, and be at the forefront of the gang wars.
Recently, this game was leaked onto the web in the form of torrents, and
eventually will find themselves on upload sites and FTP servers. Sony couldn't
ignore this leak and had to take action and give warning to those who have seen
this game and may have been tempted to download it (or to those that already
did..naughty boys/girls - that's illegal). Sony confirms the leak and state
that the game leak was of an incomplete version (preview version) contains
various bugs and has not gone through many of the finishing processes.
Remember; please do not distribute links to the leaked version of this game in
our comments section, those that do will be immediately banned without
hesitation. We do not condone or promote piracy on this site, so we would
appreciate to see that same attitude from our members/viewers.

Busy downloading it now already (better be a good beta for the 914MB!).

First google ad on page:
"Don't Download PSP Games until After you read this shocking review"
Ad follows on to:
"I was frustrated at the expensive prices of new PSP games so I searched on the internet to see if there was a way to download the same games you could find in the shops for a fraction of the price."
Lol

And the main reason I want that is that I can't find all the games, when I go to an official Sony shop, there isn't too much games, there are like 4 - 5..
I think it would be better so everyone in the world would have a chance to enjoy all the titles..

For example, you go next to a pedestrian and ask him for lets say "Big Ben". They go like "eee... I think its that way..." and point out a direction. You then go there and hope that he pointed the right direction so that you can photograph the thing. Theres also hidden guy holding a flag option (hidden packages style).
Anyways,
sorry Sony, but I'll always be a step ahead of you

Compared to most *****ty games that came out for the PSP, this one has a bit of potential. The gameplay is neat, the replay abilities are great, the storyline is well tought off and the parental level is way up!
Try it out seriously, its a 1GB game, so you know the content is there. And by the way, the graphical novel style is very nice... adds addiction to the game.
Anyways, try it before dissing it.

The main game itself is OK. But, it DOES feel a bit derivative of gta. The game needs to feel more 'free' in mission modes. You should be able to do whatever u wish, even on a mission. The missions are too linear 'in-game'.
Overall, I think this is a GREAT game that could use more push and intensity in it's various modes of gameplay because GTA already exists and has set the precedent for this style of game.
The final product should be tweaked for even more immersion and polish, even in the mini-games. That type of effort will push the game and the psp in a direction that is sorely lacking on the psp now. This game has potential, but at it's current state, it will just get lost in the sauce of other mediocre titles and ports that have promise, but lack polish.

All this being said, I downloaded the Gangs of London iso from torrents :)

but i agree even more that this does little harm at all. just like every system. the pirating community is MUCH MUCH smaller than the people who actually buy games. only exception to this might be the dreamcast or xbox1. even then, it might be up to 10% of users pirate.
as for torrents. old, slow, lame.
pirates should only use usenet and irc.

I just D/Led this to get back at Sony.

I was parodying the typical excuse that most people seem to have.
But, Sony SHOULD improve its support of homebrew -- or lack thereof.

I can´t believe it .....
If this game is great and one can afford, he should buy it. The devs did their jobs, you can´t blame them for the ***** sony is doing....
We should say thank you to those investing so much work in games like GOL --- thank you and do not be frightened, you won´t suffer from this leak.

The money that Sony makes off these games go toward lowering the costs of UMD's and making more games for the PSP and PS3.
Why don't anyone of you open your eyes and realize what your doing. They may be a multi-billion dollar corporation, but you are single-handedly screwing them over, and people who so diligently waited. I'm sick of all you.
Also, you fail to realize that SONY MIGHT STOP TRYING TO KILL HOMEBREW IF YOU STOP(PED) DOWNLOADING LEAKED GAMES AND ISO'S!!! Its exactly why Sony is killing homebrew, and I agree with them. Open your eyes you tools. Shame on you.

They don't limit the user experience dumbass. What they do is to keep this from happening. They want to make sure a new user and existing user like me, who loves playing games, have a good experience. Homebrew is homemade applcations, which is essentially what Sony is doing with firmware updates dumbass. Don't spew false, pathetic words out from mouth. The idea is to get people to buy games to enjoy them, so Sony can drop prices on games that people want to buy.
I'm not downloading the game you idiot, so don't say "your doing it for the same reason im doing it, i dont have any *****ing money." Cause you have no clue. I am going to purchase the game cause I will support Sony for the continuation of making games, and devices like this. So shut the **** up.
The reason Sony is not allowing homebrew is because it's people like you, who download the games because they don't want to spend money to support the making of great games and devices. If you want Sony to cut back on killing homebrew, don't download games! Sony will see that. Obviously, you don't, because Sony is plenty more intelligent than you are. They want people to buy games to make things more affordable for you people later. Homebrew is doing nothing but causing problems for Sony, and I see where Sony has problems with it, because I am using LOGIC. USE IT!
#42; I wouldn't cry about it, cause I'm not in my post. It seems from my initial post, you are crying because I told the truth. Got anything to back your statement up? No, then shut up, and quit crying. I've got a few points more than you can prove otherwise.
Don't hate on me for speaking the truth. And I suggest pspupdates get rid of the links to the downloadable games section, cause that could cause problems later on. Law and econmics classes prove and help a lot more than anything you've done.

Dude, what the ****? A software made by a big corporation is NOT homemade or homebrew. I understood your perspective until you made that comment. I am going to design a calculator for the PSP later, in C programming language, with a game engine (good for graphics and input) that I designed specifically for doing simple games on the PSP. THAT is homebrew. No Sony fw contains a calculator, not yet anyway. I know there are plenty of homemade calcs for PSP but I need to practice my programming skills with something easy.
I agree that large scale piracy would make a good reason to not support homebrew but I don't know any PSP pirates at all. I saw one guy I went to school with--he had emulators but not piracy. My neighbor has a PSP but he has no homebrew or any knowledge of it. Those are all the PSP owners I know. Everyone else has the Nintendo DS. Even my mom enjoys playing my nephew's NDS Lite + New Super Mario Bros. more than she does playing my old NES games on the PSP. I think what truly makes or breaks the success of the system is the fun. I love my PSP, but I have to admit that most people around me enjoy the NDS and its games better than the PSP. Even I'd get a NDS if homebrew making wasn't so unheard of and expensive to get into, and if the hardware was a bit more powerful.

I'm not gonna do a rant, but I'm saying: the reason taht Homebrew is being limited is because of piracy issues... like these. So, if you download, you're only hurting Homebrew.
I really don't have a point, since I'm a 2.7er, but I used to have a 1.5 (d/g'd from 2.0). never used ISOs, but I download other music by the bands I don't feel like giving money to.

Of course the iso situation is more motivation but to be hounest they will have made more money from people buying the console aware of the homebrew potential than they would have is there was no homebrew. People like me would simply not got a psp and got a ds or something nice and cheap.
And to be hounest I have no problem with isos as most people I know get isos because they want to try before they buy, and most isos are ripped so the game content is lowered. For the full effect people buy the game.
Download what you like, Pay for what you love.
I have lots of isos, i admit it, but i also buy any game i actually enjoy. Wipeout pure, GTA, tales of eternia, even a couple of umds.
So please get down off your high horse and you open YOUR eyes, isos make people aware of games which exist which they may never have done before, homebrew makes the psp ours and functional, U.P allows the psp to be ours whilst dodging bricking because of sonys lack of support for us... only support for money.
So thank-you Logic for your 2 cents, but give them to Sony.

Well, now that I know there's a leaked version I'll be off to go find a copy, thanks qj.net for the tip! :)
"Don't condone piracy?" But where's your first stop for the latest version of Devhook?
Oh yeah, there are erm "other uses" for DH other than playing ISO's,... I forgot, sorry!

The PC as a game system suffers the bigest piracy problem... but still i see DOOM 3, GTA:SA, NFSU:MW, AOE, Half Life etc
And those are some pretty cool games...
Thus Logic how dare u say that psp games suffer because of piracy?!
