Sony Celebrates 60th Birthday |
Listed in: News Tags:

If Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita didn't meet each other during the World War II, would we have the Walkman or the Playstation? Probably not. Ibuka and Morita established Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo (Totsuko), which eventually founded the gadgets company we all learned to love (and sometimes like to castigate) – Sony.
The company that brought us the Walkman, the Playstation, and the Bravia TV series was founded on May 7, 1946. Now, exactly 60 years from its creation, Sony continues to churn out wonderful products.
It may have been a struggle – format wars, tougher competitions, new technology to keep pace with – but Sony managed to reach the golden year in prime form. In fact, with the advent of their next-gen console Playstation 3, and the launch of the Blu-ray DVD player in July, Sony is once again proving that they still have a few wonderful tricks up their sleeves.
For all those innovations that made our lives better and livelier, thank you, Sony. Here's to more years of better products. Happy Birthday, Sony!
