Sony blocking CFW 5.50 GEN-B users from accessing the PlayStation Store? |

Is this just some sort of system maintenance from Sony or another stealthy move to get rid of custom firmware users?
Thanks Jsanity663 for the tip!

Don't forget that 5.00OFW, 5.50OFW, and 5.55OFW users still have to update too.
This isn't some targeted effort to screw the CFW people. As much as you folks and I myself would like to imagine some shadowy figure sitting at a desk and laughing maniacally about this, it isn't the case.
They just updated PSN, same as before.

Because it would indeed be a move to block CFW if access always required the latest. But if it didn't, then it's not a move to screw CFW, since 5.50 GEN-B had access well into 6.00/6.10's existence.

If you really wanted to buy a game off the PSN say it be a PSP Mini you can still use Media Go and download/purchase your game. There's not really an excuse to pirate games other than the UMD asking for a firmware higher that 5.55

"A system software update for the PSP system is required.
For update methods refer to the instructions for the PSP system."
damn.
oh well theres always fifa 10 for online play.

The PS3 can still get online, so unless you need to activate the title from the PSP, it's not much of a block for those who own both.
I have to say that by shutting out CFW you only encourage piracy. Block online play by all means, but taking away the ability for potential customers to pay developers for their product is just daft.

Just use MediaGO and the "Use Version.txt" option in recovery to get on PSN.

I never use PSN, so I have no clue if that still works or not, might be worth a try though.

It's the same with the PS3 firmware too. The most recent firmware (v3.01) isn't mandatory whereas the latest PSP firmware is.
