It is without a doubt that Sony Computer Entertainment has a lot of plans for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. The shiny black console recently received a firmware upgrade while the whole PSP community is waiting for the arrival of the re-designed handheld.

We learned today that Sony is planning to further improve its services for both platforms as it just adopted Limelight Networks' Content Delivery Network (CDN) technology. This should affect support for music, games, videos, marketing strategy, as well as online communities.

"SCE is committed to providing the most innovative 3D graphics and interactive capabilities for their customers and it's our job to ensure they get them quickly and reliably. We're proud that SCE has trusted Limelight Networks to serve as their global delivery network," Limelight Networks Senior VP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing David Hatfield.

Just so you know, Microsoft has partnered itself with Limelight Networks around a year ago. The company has been servicing Xbox Live users since then.

that Sony would go with the same group MS did. It leads me to believe Limelight is at the top of their industry or decided if they matched MS they wouldnt have to worry about competition in the distribution of content

They have also been serving up Valve/Steam(Counter-Strike, Half Life 2, etc) content on the PC for some time. I always get excellent download speeds from them.

That's good news. They should have done it off the top, but glad it didnt too long for the switch. Hopefully it wont take long to implement the change.
