Six year old finds porn in his new PSP

It's a big day for any kid to be getting a gaming platform. For Eliso Tovar of Florida, the big day came as a late Christmas present - his mom took him to a Wal-Mart in Manatee County to get a brand new PSP! All was okay, until he boots it up for the first time and finds a naked woman on the screen. Afraid of getting grounded, he ran to his mom, who found yet more porn in the memory card.

The mom, Tamatha, said she found a memory card inside the PSP packed full of pornographic pictures. She said it wasn't hers and it was already in the PSP before she opened the box. She then called the store and spoke to a manager about the situation. "I explained the situation and his response was, 'well, bring the machine down and we'll let your son pick out a new game,'" she said. "And I was like, no I don't think you heard what I said."

A Wal-Mart spokesperson expressed the company's concern over the problem and said that they're now looking into what happened. Tamatha says she wants a new PSP and an apology.

Really concerning news. It's bad enough that six year olds get exposed to porn, but the thought of getting a brand new PSP and getting a used one is just plain wrong.

» luckiest kid ever...

ok now i feel ripped off. my psp didnt even come with a memory stick, let alone free porn! so she *****ed and then walmart offered to give a free game, and mom was like "derrrr i dont think you heard what i just said..." which translates to " i dont want a free game, i want my 15 minutes of fame on the 6 oclock news". i think a free game was pretty generous, they could have said bring it back and you can exchange it for a new one. but yeah obviously that kids gonna be scarred for life. just another example of video games ruining the world.

» NOT buying it.

There is something about this walmart shoppers story, the fact that she is full of crap. There is no way that memory stick was left in there by someone else, unless the box was clearly already open. Im sure most of you remember what a SEALED psp box looks like, there is no way you could miss that huge circle sticker.

So whats a more likely story? New PSP, a used memory stick, and a dumb parent. Wow, that sounds much more likely, especially coming from someone who shops at walmart...

You know, I bought a DS new at K-Mart back in 2005 and guess what? IT WAS USED. It had someone elses game in it (a GBA GAME and a DS game) and was missing the extra styluses. I didnt return it though since I didnt want to get rid of the two free games.

» The phat was a prop.

The phat was a prop, he got a 3000(according to the receipt and they show the 3000 in the mom's hands.)

Also, I wonder who owns the phat, Fox or the kid?

Also, they could have blurred the pics for the rest of of, XD.

----Also:

If it was still factory sealed then it would have had to happen at Sony not Wal Mart. Also it could have been an angry employee at Sony or could have been a dumb dare.

Although the problem is that someone had to use the PSP and not just place the memory stick so the walpaper would be set(yes I know everyone knows that here).

She could just format the memory stick and set a new wallpaper and get an apology and be on her way. Maybe a free game for compensation or something. Why make such a huge deal, I mean if it was my 6y/o I would ask for compensation and tell my child doen't worry its not your fault, your not in trouble, then I would go on my way. That is just me though, I am one to think logically(most of the time).

I still wonder where the new looking phat came from though.

Why would she want a new PSP? It's not like you cannot change the background on it.

The kids a little b****. Man when I was that young I would have given anything to see porn. I mean come on his parents will probably never look at at his PSP.

» You guys are semi Retarded

(Minus the very first picture of the psp @:9 seconds)

You guys are all nub cakes, The Home Button on the psp is a PS BUTTON, therefore it is a PS3000, plus the speakers above the buttons on the right and above the DPAD mean it has to atleast be a PSP2000

Maybe before you post dumb ***** about it being a Phat you actually take the time to look at the video a little closer

@:19 :25 and :43 you can obviously see it, and :47 is a Close up zoom of the speaker above the Buttons.

in the very first frame you can see the ir port on the top of the PHAT psp in the kids hands. yes there is a 3000 shown in the video too, but maybe you should look a little closer before calling a bunch of people nub cakes and semi retarded.

» Returns policy!

A lot of Uk stores have a returns policy where they say if you return it boxed and unused they give a refund, but i've bought stuff and used for a while then just took back and said i got the wrong one and got a refund, then they just sell it as new again, i don't know how Wal-mart returns work but i'm guessing that happened.

This is fake. At 10s, the kid is holding a PSP Phat. Then at 25s, it's swapped to a PSP3000 with porn photo.

» Retail

I won't waste time arguing what kind of PSP it was...

But my friend (who bought 3 PSPs for some reason) purchased a PSP at one walmart, used it, then returned it to a different Walmart and they took it. Knowing the retail market as I do, they probably took someone's returned PSP just to shut them up and make them happy... then, repacked and resold it. Sending the unit back to Sony in exchange for credit would probably incur some sort of financial loss for the store, so they overlooked it...

Anyways, it's just a guess. I also like the idea that it was a Sony employee LOL!

» Believe it or not

My fiance was the second one in that wal-mart. It's off of US hwy 301 in palmetto Florida...

I don't think that there is anyway to prove whether or not the psp was loaded before or after the kid turned it on... it's all based off of her testimony.

That and the psp may have been new but what if some worker on the assembly line decided to play a prank and shove a memory stick full of porn into a new psp...

Point is this... There is no way to tell of certain what actually happened, either way. (I think it goes all the way back to the pre-boxing stages myself.)

I work at a walmart, and Im pretty sure that they make sure that things like this work before either returning it or putting it back on the shelf. Even though that it seems like a *****d up walmart thing to do to put something used back on a shelf. I dont know exactly how things like that run there cause I work in the back of the grocery area.

But all in all, that pretty funny. When I was 6 years old, I was looking at my friends porn, which he got from his dad.

I'm surprised didn't think of that myself. Although, I probably would have said,

Tyler also works part time at the Walmart technology section. Why would anyone want this crap job? It affords interesting opportunities, like putting porn in every memory card. So, when the kid loads up his PSP for the first time expecting a cute singing blob in Loco Roco, that's when he sees Tyler's contribution to the system. Nobody wants to know they saw it, but they did. A nice, big-"

» Not surprising

A friend and I went to Wal Mart years ago and purchased a new VCR for a mutual friend in an assisted living home. We set it up and tried to put a tape in it to test, and it would not go in. There was a tape in there, and when we pressed play, "Got My Baby Back #28" began playing. That may not be the exact title, but we just stared in disbelief at the screen for about 30 seconds. We took it back, asked if the video came with all of their devices, and got a new one with $5 off. Turns out that some folks buy these things, use them, and put them back, and are pretty good at sealing them up. Sometimes, things like VCRs come back with drywall and the like in them and no one knows until someone else purchases them.

» What Actually Went Down

I work at Walmart in the Electronics Department as a DM and we got a letter on The Wire about this:

The manager offered her to bring it in and he would exchange it and give her a new game. Store policy says he is to exchange the unit for a new one. It doesn't say anything about giving her a game. She was getting away ahead. She (as you can see in the interview) was not to be reasoned with and demanded that she be given a new PSP and in-store-credit for her troubles. Alot of in-store-credit. When she was told no, she pitched a fit and went on about how she was not going to stand for this and she was going to take this to the news, and she would see us in court (etc... etc). Obviously it never made it that far as it is speculation wether the PSP was mishandled at home-level, store-level, warehouse-level, supplier-level, or factory-level. She was later told after the news interview that she had no case as she herself said "...you never know whats in a box". Instead, she received a letter of apology from Home Office stating "How concerned they are with the problem" and an exchange on the PSP. So in the end being greedy cost her kid a PSP game of his choice.
