Six year old asks Norwegian King to change his name to Sonic X, gets polite refusal |
Ó
Six year old Christer from Norway was tired of his name, and since he was a big fan of Sonic,
he wanted to be named after his favorite video game character. In fact,
he wanted it so bad that he actually wrote to King Harald V asking for
permission to have his name legally changed to "Sonic X."It all began late last year when Christer wrote a letter, not to some government office, but to King Harald V himself, asking for the legal name change. Of course, his parents were quite reluctant to send such a bizarre request. So they left the letter in the kitchen, perhaps thinking that their son will get over it eventually. But the desire didn't die down, because months later, Christer asked his parents why they still haven't sent his letter.
Perhaps thinking that the letter would wind up in the royal shredder anyway, Christer's parents decided to give in to their son and sent the letter. The King must've found the story so cute that he replied.
Unfortunately, not even the King himself could do anything about it. The request had to be denied, not because everyone else thought he'll regret it one day, but because Christer simply wasn't old enough to have his name legally changed. You'd have to be 18 for that. Poor Christer was disappointed, saying that "It was a bit bad."
As a consolation prize however, Sega is sending the six year old some Sonic X goodies to ease his woes. Awwwww.

this is like the 3rd "6-year-old" story i've read here (the one with the 6 year old finding porn on his psp and the other one with the kid trading a gun for a psp)
why is it only six year olds? :P...oh well its still pretty funny XD
Correct decision.
He may as well went all out and tried naming himself "Sonic the Hedgehog 3."
Its sad, even Norway revolves around the belief that the number 18 is magical. Pretty soon it will be included in prayers.
wow sonic has turned from a great game series to terrible. every year they find a way to make it more *****ed up
its a standard, if we didnt have some type of set age for things, young people will be drivin, more teen pregnancy (which is dangerous medically speaking), more jobs opened to people who really shouldnt have them, legal underage pornography, more school drop outs, and of course them voting... anyway the age use to be 21 at some point (better imo), but it was lowered to 18 later on, if you want it changed, start something up, end rant
If I try to change my name to Sony, can I get some free Playstation stuff?
Nah you have to change your name to Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain.
I remember a few people who were funded by a game developer in the UK to change their names to the game's name, i just can't remember what it was.
the sad thing about this is that the kid is six, so he doesn't remember sonic 1-3 or even sonic adventure, he probably thinks the characters name is sonic x from the cartoon
I can't imagine what would happen to the world if people under 18 could vote. Ron Paul or Nader would control the world, or at least the US
There was no end to the "DUR VOTE RON PAUL DUR" idiots in my school
Indeed, there has to be some age standard they use for things to help regulate laws. If it wasn't 18 it could be like, 20 or something then people would complain about that.
I'm going to write to Obama asking if I can change my name to Resident Evil. Maybe I'll get featured here on QJ AND Capcom will send me some Resident Evil stuffz! *cough*RE5*coug h*
Several people already killed the joke, but I guess I'll go and get my name changed to Duke Nukem: Forever, so they'll release the game.
I can totally relate. I've always wanted my name to be Megaman... and then Megaman X came out, so that's where the whole Mitchen X thing came from.
At least we are free to choose our own screen names, regardless of age. ;)
Yea, god forbid giving human beings rights because we all know that the brain magically grows in only when one turns 18. And by the way Master Chef, the voting age being 18 didn't stop Bush from getting in, perhaps its time for your simple mind to understand that anyone of any age can be an idiot.
...nathan drake or maybe big daddy. maybe I can get score some video game swag too..
no body snuggles with Max Power.
You strap yourself in and feel the G's.
Too many people under 18 easily buy into fads, which is what VOTE RON PAUL was. Ron Paul would've made an even worse prez. The brain doesn't magically change when you turn 18, but you're usually out of high school around then, and you start thinking on your own instead of what the popular people at your school tell you to think.
uh oh! lol
he got a free goody bag? thats it, im telling the queen that i want to change my name to Niko Bellic
he got a free goody bag? thats it, im telling the queen that i want to change my name to Niko Bellic
i'll ask Obama if i can change my name to Mario. Nintendo might send me a Wiimote. ....heh.. not.
when my sister was like 6 y/o, the Queen of Norway, Sonja, was on a visit where we live.
and guess what.
my sister managed to send a helium balloon right in her face!
my mom was like "OMFG, now they're killing us!"
they just gave her the balloon back, lol...
about the 6 year old that got beat for losing...
If I remember correctly, Ron Paul was a good candidate. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. He ran for election in 2008, no? Anyway, all them voters over 18 weren't just idiots once, oh no. Twice! They voted for Bush TWICE. In 2004 and 2000! You'd think they'd learn, but nope. Some type of voting should be allowed to persons under 18, even if they have to have been emancipated.
When he turn's 18, he's going to be like "Man, I was so retarded when I was six."
... Is that not Politically Correct?
