Silent Hill Origins demo leaked from Leipzig, gameplay captured on video

It's been a while since we last heard from Konami's Silent Hill Origins, but now it's back in a big way - albeit in a rather shady one, as the game's demo seems to have been smuggled from Leipzig and ripped for play on homebrew-capable PlayStation Portables. Of course, that's a bit unbelievable, considering the security in such events - that's why there's a video of six tense-filled gameplay minutes to convince you, as embedded below.

One thing yours truly noticed right away is the fact that the camera tracks you in a way that not only looks good, but can actually increase the tension as you go along - certainly a throwback to the days of Harry Mason and hacking up Silent Hill residents with a katana. We also see how one saves, and it's with the glowing triangle marks you'll be able to find on cleverly-hidden spots. And of course, a brief yet terrifying fight scene with a nurse. Creepy.

In any case, enjoy the video - with the lights off.

Crappy framerate. I hope this is because of the youtube video, really hope, but the FR looked like crap to me. PSP is the Powerpoint videogame, we have to measure the FR by SECONDS PER FRAME, not frames per second... :'(

» meh

Completed the demo already.

any torrent user can get this for free, for obvious reasons im not gonna link to it but google is your friend.

hint:find the plastic organs and place then in the dummy. You also need to get the human heart from the ice box by finding the code written in blood on the walls and the x-ray machine.

» Oh here we go again

Damnit QJ, don't you ever do any fact checking? This demo wasn't "smuggled from Leipzig", it's being given out by Sony representatives across the country and has been uploaded to torrent sites (no surprises there).

by Mehso - 2007-08-20 08:58
» there is

there is no crisis core demo out.....

anyway, if you open the SH:O demo with UMDGen, you can see all the game movies, even the endings, this thing has all the game content in it, if someone could hack it we could play the full game right now....there is around 400 MB of data not used in the demo

by HB____ - 2007-08-20 10:09

» wow awesome

grabbing the demo now.. i wonder what FW it requires ?

by STJ - 2007-08-21 09:27
» It ok?

So it's ok if someone steals and leaks a demo for an "official" sony product, but it not ok to steal and leak a cr@ppily made CFW from Team wildcr@p? who knew?!

by ha! - 2007-08-21 09:56
» shut up ***** sucker

qj gives 24 hour news updates and guess what *****wad - word on the street is that this was leaked from leipzig - ive completed the demo, researched its origin and it looks like it was the demo on show at leipzig which some sony representatives own but are certainley not distributing. however they might start.*****.

by astonished bystander - 2007-08-21 09:59
» your computer

i may be going mad here but most desktops distributed today have minimum 120 gig memory. how can you not deal with 600 meg? i'm a perplexed panda.

by Manman - 2007-08-21 10:35
» Ok is relative...

I think the problem isn't about stealing or leaking (with regards to that new CFW.) It's not about whether it's ok or not to re-distribute something you didn't make, the stink about the CFW is that those guys (nameless guys, for the sake of avoiding more arguments) redistributed the modified firmware after changing it to put their names in there somewhere, and ended up screwing the whole thing up and causing bricks on any PSP that got the frimware from that site.

But, since this thread is about Silent Hill, I have a question - does anyone know the answer to Angus' question above? Does anyone know what firmware the demo requires?

by JoBobAskRadioShackGuyLOL - 2007-08-21 12:08
» lawls

firmware 2.5 or greater, I think. Don't quote me, but you should have updated your firmware in the last few years. The latest M33 does the job nicely, and I finally got Silent Hill Experience working as well with M33!

by theneonlobster - 2007-08-22 06:48
» where?!?!

where can i find this demo? i'm sure it's illegal or something.. so would someone email me a link? my name+@yahoo.com

thank you

by Manman - 2007-08-23 07:03
» Where? There!

Not sure if you'll get any direct responses, the best advice is to just check some torrent sites. I haven't tried it yet, but I hear that's the source.

by moldey - 2007-08-23 10:35
