Sid Meier's Pirates! coming to the PSP in February |
Ó
2K and Firaxis Games announced today that their strategy adventure game Sid Meier's Pirates! is now currently in the works to invade and conquer your handhelds.
What it's about? You'll basically get to take on the role of a pirate captain in the 17th century Caribbean, where you'll have to prove you're one heckuva sea captain by braving stormy seas and leading your crew in land and sea battles. But your role is far from being a heroic one, as you'll have to amass fortune and fame by any means possible for you to gain the reputation as the most feared (and respected) pirate in history.
Environments are immersed in a fully rendered 3D world, and the game will also feature wireless Ad-Hoc multiplayer for up to four players, widescreen graphics, treasure hunts and tons more. Hopefully, this is only one of the many titles that the two companies will release for our beloved handhelds, the more choices the better, right? To have a quick-see of how the game will look like on your handhelds, check out the screens we have for you below.
Rated PEGI 12+, Sid MeierÂ’s Pirates! for the PSP is slated for release February 23, 2007.

I already played and beat this on the PC, but good to see it coming to PSP nonetheless. One of the most addictive games I've ever played, could sit down and loose 6-8 hours easily.
It doesn't shiver my timbers I can tell you that, the graphics look pretty poor compared to games I've seen strolling around the PSP ie. Syphon Filter and MGA2 had great graphics
This game will be crap unless its online
I have spent quite some time on the pc version, and i have been longing for a PSP version. I was quite happy when I read this just now. Now let's hope that the New PSP firmwares will support homebrew like the PS3 1.1 update, so that I can start playing all those new titles and still have homebrew (still on 2.00)
Giving idiotic opinions about games I've never played before sure is fun isn't it?
I played a lot of this on the PC, it was the dancing that finally killed it though. What kind of self-respecting pirate prances around ballrooms eh?
The kind that wants to bang the hottie daughter of the colony overlord, hehe. I can agree, those parts got rather annoying after a while, good thing the vast majority of the rest of the game was so fun.
i'm an idiot!
I liked the commodore 64 version, I played it for so long in the 80s that I wore out the microswitches on at least 3 joysticks ;) I've played it on the psp using a c64 emulator quite a bit too ;)
and there was no dancing in the c64 version, the governors daughter went by your wealth and rank :)
i longed for a PSP version if this game. i love it! P.S. the screenshots are really pixelated on a pc :)
I'm glad to see this coming to the PC. It's been one of my favorite games ever since I used to run it in DOS on my 386.
i dreamed about this game when i was obssesed with the psp last year.no joke, i remember this.this is amazing
This is by farrrrr my fav sid meiers game. I hope its a good port to the psp, i can see this being very fun to play on the go! -Ash-
Cool, this is one of the best PC games I've ever played, and I think it will be awesome in te PSP version. The only problem with the PC version is that you don't want to stop playing until you finish the game, but with the PSP that won't be a problem at all, 'cause you can take it wherever you go. Let's wait and see.
