SEGA Genesis Collection: Comix Zone trailer

Ó

We've been giving pretty steady coverage of the Sega Genesis Collection, and while we're still waiting for its release reminiscing the happy days of Sonic, Ecco and Shinobi, we'll take a short trip down memory lane and look at another cultural icon we had back during the hay-day of some of these games: comic books.

Ever remember reading your first comic book and - as the cliche goes - wishing you were in there, being the hero who beats the villain ( Or for the sicker dudes out there, being the villain who nukes the hero)? Comix Zone just had that in mind, and while the idea of a comic artists THAT buffed up does sound a bit whacked these days, you gotta love the way the whole game felt like a cross between a comic book - complete with Adam West-esque "BAM! and BOOM!" sound effects - and Streets of Rage.

Sure, games like Vectorman had gameplay going for it, but Comix Zone wasn't just about the play. It's like Viewtiful Joe: It's a homage to other cultural icons that you just gotta love as much as the game itself. And to help rekindle the nostalgia, we've enclosed this post with a game trailer to help you guys remember this panel-scrolling classic. Enjoy.
