Sony has yet to release any hard numbers for the PSP Go, but according to Sony Computer Entertainment America, the latest PSP iteration is doing a bang up job of boosting sales for the PSP platform.

SCEA corporate communications director Patrick Seybold has told Gamasutra that in the three days since its launch, the PSP Go has caused a 300 percent week over week increase in US PSP platform sales. Revenue from PSP games purchased on the North American PSN also got a "significant increase" of 200 percent.

Seybold also noted that with several high-profile PSP titles launching in the coming weeks, Sony is confident that the momentum will continue all the way through to the holiday season.

» Great for you Sony

First

Anyways, yeah this won't last long.

by CyberCub - 2009-10-07 13:36
» What what what O.o

I am amazed. Something tells me that a small number like 1,000 pspgo sold in the US = 300% increase ^^.

» Why?

I don't See Why.

No Homebrew + No UMD = No Good

PSP Go = Fail

as of right now that is

by Atownaction - 2009-10-07 13:46
» You know thats a lie......

I know that is article is so fake its not even funny the PSP go has nothing great about it........

by Versus - 2009-10-07 13:52
» wow people

not everyone knows what homebrew is or what the old psp can do. everyone here is just concerned abot the fact that this device doesnt benefit them. The psp go is meant for new customer not for people who already have a psp.

by Rolen47 - 2009-10-07 13:58
» I believe it.

I've noticed a slight increase in traffic on PSP message boards all over the internet. But it's not that big of an increase compared to when the DSi came out. The PSPGO boost wont last long.

by xavis75211 - 2009-10-07 14:03
» 300%?

WTF, how many people in there right mind would go for a GO?

by CyberCub - 2009-10-07 14:06
» I agree

I do agree with what your saying but a 300% increase is still an amazing feat for the unit at the current price structure.

by Ezekial - 2009-10-07 14:08
» Not suprised at all

The PSP Go kicks some major ass. The old models are garbage compared to it. The go is light and very comfortable and the screen is great quality.

All you retards insulting it have probably never even seen one outside of pictures.

by Power_Surge - 2009-10-07 14:35
» Yea?

According to your crystal ball?

by rededbest - 2009-10-07 14:35
» I agree with Ezekial!!!!

I know what the old PSP can do and yet I think the PSP Go is the best.

All you Pirates need to get a job and BUY your games!!!!!!!

by papajag - 2009-10-07 14:36
» ...

I probably will get one when they drop to $150 or $100 or if I could find one on Craigslist for that amount. I do buy some of my games unlike other people. Those people need to STF up about Homebrew and using it as an excuse instead of being honest that they pirate.

by Power_Surge - 2009-10-07 14:38
» lol

Seems to work for iPod just fine.

I also find it funny how people used to complain about UMD's and now they are complaining about lack of it...

by narutosaiyan - 2009-10-07 14:39
» thank you

finally someone who isnt retarded.

» Sony is lying about 300%

The 300% increase a BS, I know them, this is there way of keeping the price up. There mainly BS because they wanna keep the PSP GOs price at 250 dollars.

There was no 300% increase, thats Sonys way of tricking retailers to keep it at 250.

The reason they havent released how many they have sold is cause they dont even have the numbers AKA it never existed. I know Sony, they only sold around 15-20 PSP GOs.

Also think about this, Sony is also using the PSP 3000 as the 300% increase as PSP GO as a big fat lie. There using the PSP 3000 as the 300% increase and using the name PSP GO to make it seem like Go is successful.

THERE WAS NEVER A 300% INCREASE AT ALL! Sony is really trying there best to keep a 5 year old handheld at the same price.

i hope you say we ALL are pirates, most of us arent pirates

» youre dumb

youre pretty much the worst person that posts on qj... so sony is telling the retailers that they are selling more psps? alright there buddy, that makes complete sense. you do know that when someone buys a psp they have to buy it third party right, meaning they have to go to a store and buy it or place an order at an online store? where do you think sony gets their numbers? wild guess here but maybe they get it from the retailers? DUH!! i mean how dumb do you have to be not to know that.

and no ***** they are including the other psps. the pspgo is a damn psp. why would they not include it. so the fact that they have sold 300% more would include all psp purchases. however, is it coincidence that they started to sell more since the release of the pspgo?

youre dumb

by core2kid18 - 2009-10-07 17:28
» wow! 300%!

Whats 300% of 0?

by zeecron - 2009-10-07 18:37
» Blah Blah

Thats nice that go is doing them some good. Once my 1000 and 2000 are no good anymore and umd's arent for sale i will never buy another psp. I own all my games and i put every one of them on memsticks for speeding up loading times. But i own the game and i can hold it in my hand. I will never pay for a download if i cant back it up to disc. The only way i may buy another handheld is if they take the time to add a second analog stick. Sony has put it off on so many psp upgrades and it would be the one thing that would make me upgrade.

by dialtoneownzu - 2009-10-07 18:44
» hmmm

well there are so many drawbacks from the go with the limitations and pricepoint but if the price drops I'd consider getting it for the simple fact that it could easily go in my jeans pocket but for that portability I'd have to go with a smaller screen. They really should have thrown on a second stick so newer games could give you the option of using it or not.

» Umd

People hate umd's because they big, power hungry, noisy and fragile, if it used cartridges people wouldn't be so bothered and it's the fact that you don't actualy own the games on Psp go that's my problem, i mean a umd i can keep forever and sell if i want but the day Sony goes out of business your Psn account won't exist anymore so you don't own your Psp go games anymore, you could download games when it's hacked and ethicaly you in the right because you payed for games but legaly it's piracy and piracy laws will be much harsher in the future, it might seem like i'm exaggerating looking this far in future but i own 20 year old games and will always know they mine.

by ShinseiTom - 2009-10-07 18:57
» So...

So then, it's priced that way to take advantage of those who don't necessarily know better?

by valefour - 2009-10-07 19:12
» dude! you're sooo right!!!

there's a new generation of people being introduced to the psp every day, this is just something to get people's attention to reintroduce the psp platform to the masses and bring in new customers. i used to find myself satisfied with my psp before i even knew about custom firmware. ^_^

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-07 21:24
» your not really comparing PSP to ipod are you?

biggest game on PSP is 1.7GB.

enlighten me on what size the biggest game for ipod is.

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-07 23:30
» hmmm

id be interested to see how many of those sales are from the Go

GT Mobile couldnt of had anything to do with it

people have only been waiting for it since PSP launch

by MadCat340 - 2009-10-08 00:27
» GT mobile... meh

GT mobile wasn't the thing that caught me, it was the fact that i don't need UMDs anymore. If i want to play them i'll use my 2000XD.

But... yep the sales of the Go are going to stop though we all know as soon as someone releases a hack(for public use) we'll all be going NUTS for it!!

by Aces In The Palm - 2009-10-08 01:39
» i was just saying

it says PSP sales increase 300% thanks to Go.

PSP meaning PSP as a whole (PSP-3000's and PSP-N1000's)

id be interested to see the classic PSP sales vs PSP Go sales

by Hotsuma - 2009-10-15 05:14
» No, actually...

... that's based on a financial timeline of past PSP system revisions. Modern crystal ball.
