Rockstar Games: No Grand Theft Auto movie was ever in the works - Image 1Following yesterday's rumor that there was a Grand Theft Auto movie in the works that would feature rapper Eminem, Rockstar Games went on record today that the rumor is not true and that the speculations are just exactly that.

According to Rockstar Games VP Dan Houser, no movie was ever in the works, as far as their company is concerned. He added:

Some movie producers were trying to put something together to entice us to make a movie, as studios and production teams frequently have done in the past.

This proposal was no more interesting than the numerous others we receive. We never entertained proceeding with the project.

Aside from that, Houser also made clear that a GTA movie is not something they are "currently interested in" and that they are not involve in whatever GTA project outside the video game industry "in any way, shape or form."

Closest thing I've seen that'd be comparable to a GTA movie would be Crank. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you do because you're missing out.

Actually, Crank 2 is in development dude. So is Transporter 3, and Jason Statham is my fav actor. Both are due for a 2009 release.

Eminem for Lead? Hella naw that foo cant even act. only reason why he acted in his movie because it was about his own life. but anyway i wouldnt be looking forward to a GTA movie not unless it had a huge budget and a great director. Plus the Game itself is like a movie but only interactive. but if they were gonna make one Jason Strathome mos def had to be the star.
