Rockstar Games and Timbaland (rapper and music producer) are teaming up to bring Beaterator, a "Flash based sequencer and mixer." It's the successor to Rockstar's Rhymerator.

Anyway, the Beaterator has a built-in sound bank plus it allows users to create their own sounds, loops, and 8-track compositions. The team up is optimistic about the Beaterator being ported to the PSP. The PSP version will sport original rhythm games and challenge modes. It will also feature a "powerful music mixer." Timbaland expressed his excitement, saying that he's "thrilled to be partnering with them [Rockstar] and making music for Beaterator. I cannot wait to get this in the hands of our fans!"

Rockstar's founder Sam Houser adds: Two years ago, we launched a web-based version of Beaterator on our own website and people really embraced it. That inspired us to build and create something very interactive and unique. Having Timbaland involved in the game is a real honor and only adds to our excitement about the title.

It's due to hit the PSP this summer. Well, we'll see if there's more info regarding Beaterator. Stay tuned.

» gee, i wonder

i wonder if some of "Timbaland's" samples are gonna be ripped off too. after all rockstar's done, i find it ironic that THIS makes me lose respect for them.

» not at all

lose what respect?? they got one of the hottest producers out there to put this thing together.. Last I recall Justin Timberlake doing pretty damn good right now with Timabaland beats. This is definitely a breath of fresh air.

» wow

Have you not heard? Timbaland ripped someone else's song and used it as his own. Look it up, its obvious... There's a difference between sampling and ripping and Timbaland ripped.

» your "hot producer" is still a thief.

i don't think you understand what i'm trying to say: are they even his beats to begin with? or did he steal them from someone else, keeping all the credit? i don't listen to justin timberlake, but if timmy here claims credit, i wouldn't be AT ALL surprised to find another producer with several years' proof of theft. look at tempest. while HIS music is played in the background on one of nelly furtado's new songs, he gets nothing, not even RECOGNITION. there's a massive difference between sampling and theft. even if mr. 'land doesn't get it.

» Beaterator MOST pirated PSP EVER

that's right babes!!!

Beaterator will be the PSP most pirated software EVER

even if it just for fun

they have to be RETARDED at Rockstar to hire someone who steals musics from sceners

I mean it's so NARROW marketing point of view using that kind of person (read: someone who makes money with others works) is very RISKY... they better also put a sticker on the game: "PIRATE ME PLEASE!"

This guy timbaland is nothing more than a ripper.. stealing music from others and releasing it as your own just sucks!

» what a nerd

honestly, on the global scale of world events, no body really cares about your little anti-Timbaland Crusade. Get over it and get a life.

Don't you know that this is the Internet??? No body is ACTUALLY listening to you or your silly e-pinions.

Well, it's official, mitch said so.

Ripping is ok because he (and his minions) doesn't care about stolen work being released by someone else.

Jeez.....

» nothing new

This "stealing" you talk about is called sampling, and DJs/producers have been doing it for years. It's nothing new!

And even though it should be, credit is not always given to the original source.

It just how it goes, get over it!

by Grand Theft Audio - 2007-03-15 19:18
» Indead, nothing new

Well stealing is in fact even older than sampling, and I'm sure other than Timbaland steals stuff too. So I guess stealing is ok too then.

On the serious side, fakes and frauds get called out all the time too, it is nothing new either. And very few major artists has stolen as large part of a song, and even fewer has stolen the same song twice.

all we wise guys talk about is what we hear from other people,, and timbaland? he made so much more music than those two ripped tracks.. he made alot of tracks (and good ones too),,, and no offcourse this is not going to be professional, who ever said its going to be the best thing in future to produce class A-tracks with? not me..

bye bye

by cdemusix - 2007-04-09 02:22
» Is that all?

Dear Timbaland... you can do better your *****ing ripping work! Rip also the Lizardking, Romeo Knight, Tip & Firefox, Purple Motion and other great demoscener's MODS... and if isn't sufficient... you can rip also Martin Galway, Rob Hubbard and all the C64 SID chiptunes to insert in your productions! Check it out, you can find more of 40000 SID tunes at HVSC! :-D

Beaterator: i hope in that (cracked) program insert a cracktro with the "Acidjazz Evening" GRG chiptune as BGM (and write "This is not Furtado...")
