Another bit of sad news for the PSP scene today as reports are coming in that the much awaited music game Rock Band Unplugged has already been leaked in the internet, less than a month ahead of its scheduled release date.

The PSP has always been hampered by piracy, but this is getting out of hand. Rock Band Unplugged was supposed to be released on June 9th. This is really bad news for the devs at Backbone Entertainment and Harmonix who have put a lot of effort making this game. It will also hurt EA as they are the one who will publish the game. Here's hoping other PSP developers won't be affected with this news as there are many blockbuster titles scheduled for the PSP this year.

» omg this is getting rediculous

Finally a decent game comes out and what happens? It GETS *****ING LEAKED. I AM SOOO SICK OF THIS,look like we wont be seeing any good Backbone Entertainment and Harmonix in the future. If they had JUST made an hardware component like the DS version it would NOT be pirated AT all. But in saying that, if their is a hardware upgrade such as the DSi it may not be compatible. Such as with the new DSi

» omgzorxsowhat?!

dull game - dull as dishwater.. dont care.

its there now, free for the taking.. and i still dont want it lol

the OTT language being used by the writers on this site to describe something as common-or-garden as a game leak makes me think $ony have bought it up or something.

» The developer/publisher are to blame for being leaked

Not pirates.

Sure I don't like that people pirate games for the PSP because that's the reason we're not seeing as many games as we do, however, the blame for this game being leaked shouldn't fall on pirates at all.

It was leaked and the pirates took full advantage of it to download and play the game almost a month before, so they're still in the wrong for doing so, but it's also Harmonix/EA's problem since someone from one of their companies had to have been the cause of the leak in the first place.

» YUP!

It was leaked on the 13th and out on forums by the 14th!

It was someone from the inside of Harmonix or Backbone or Sony who leaked it. Ppl can't blame piraters because there is no way in hell someone can get the ISO or CSO without the actual UMD.

Makes me think that Sony or someone else is trying to make pirates look bad, or someone just didn't care and leaked it.

» Leak?

I can't help but thing that this was done on purpose. People who tried the ISO report that it has an interesting "protection" where it deletes "Game" folder from your memory stick on exit.

(of course you can just turn your psp off while in the game, but still...)

» Oh my god!

This is so stupid! I just checked and saw that Rock Band Unplugged was available! Man, this is crazy. Someone from Harmonix or Backbone had to do this, because only they had the game.

by Mirmo - 2009-05-15 12:00
» Agreed

I was actually also thinking that, most likely its has to be someone who works at Harmonix or EA, I doubt anyone even owns a UMD, I also doubt stores like gamestop even have this game yet in their inventory. Hopefully they will notice that someone in their company did this and not try to pin this on someone that "apparently had a copy".

wtf is wrong with you? Don't post links to warez sites where people can download it!

» well....

i'm not gonna say pirating is ok or not ok...but sony..when you release games like dissidia in japan..but the U.S has to wait a whole year,or patapon in europe..and we wait 3 months...what do you really expect to happen.its not pirating that hurts you the most..its yourselves..and dont get me started on 2008's lack of titles...nintendo doesnt have half this prob..why?..quality and qauntity

» You read my mind

I have noticed that this site has become a bashing ground for pirates, and I thought $ony was to blame. I dont think they bought it though because then we wouldnt see stuff like chickHEN on the servers. I say leak it to the world, but we shouldnt complain when the PSP titles get few and far between. Piracy promotes change in its own crazy way, PSPTouch anyone?

I dont think is Sony since they're not the developers...like said before either Harmonix/Backbone/EA maybe...but I dont think fro Sony but hey...could be the case...who's to blame...the internet...therefore Microsoft...JK

Are you talking to Sony?...o...k....o_O and I think you dont know what you're saying...Sony is not reponsible for all the game releases...

by Nicklit - 2009-05-15 20:56
» k sure, I don't care but

seriously, nothing can hurt EA, nothing at all.

by leo9891 - 2009-05-16 02:25
» false

thats false! it does not delete anything!

the only thing that i did find was when i was editing the iso, so i can have more space on my memstick, that when you delete or even dummy the "UPDATE" folder, the game won't work. Not saying that it forces you to update to a new FW, but it just wont let you delete that folder, if you do your game wont work.

» I know where he's coming from..

he has a point, however he's blaming the wrong place, and i don't pirate for games that take a long tim to come in america, I get the games that don't come, forexample all the bleach heat thy souls, not one ever came to america and #6 is in the making, honestly, if devs were to release all of there games in america to they'd lose some piraters(like me)

» 100% Anal Leakage

DS games can be pirated too so I don't see how that matters

by LeXiO - 2009-05-16 06:49
» different

The piracy on the PSP is on a totally different level than the piracy on the DS. You can't even compare it. Just saying that DS games can be pirated also, doesn't mean much when it comes to the actual piracy levels.

by ZeRoLiMiT - 2009-05-16 07:33
» You don't obviously know the DS scene

LeXiO the NDS scene for piracy is just as big as the psp one. Just because the games aren't as "High Quality" as the psp doesn't mean that its not comparable. You should of seen the mad dash to crack the DSi protection. Which in the end was just a modded card with a header from a real game. With the ds you can use it just like a touch screen pda, like a iPhone. Please buy a NDS and do it yourself before you try to compare the 2. I have a phat NDS a DS Light and a DSi.

» Let's Be Real

Let's be real here. No matter how early it was leaked, it doesn't change the actual sales figures when it comes out officially. The people who download it and play it are NOT the people who buy it. They just downloaded it 3 weeks earlier. They still would have downloaded it when it was released. The only way this effects sales figures is if it really sucks and word gets out.

My 2 cents.

by Echo12 - 2009-05-17 22:55
» Pirates..

Poor devs being cheated out of their profits. Maybe they should include a PSP virus wherein when a pirated game is installed on a CFW enabled PSP, The Gay Movie of all Times "Brokeback Mountain" will be played over and over again with a special Gay Scene pf course. That should disgust pirates to even try opening their PSP's. hehehe..

Violent reactions anyone?

by enigmaticdude - 2009-05-29 10:12
» well

Piracy has been the biggest problem on the PSP, That is one of the biggest reasons why PSP games don't sell as much as they should. If there wasn't any piracy on the PSP, then people would have to buy games instead of downloading games and hacking their psps.

by enigmaticdude - 2009-05-29 10:16
» Yeah
