Remote Play to be added in Firmware 1.6 |
Ó
We've previously reported to you folks the supposed features of the firmware update - presumably PS3 firmware 1.6 - that's set to coincide with the European PlayStation 3 launch.Well, Tom Kiss of TomKiss.net informs that while he was at the ThreeSpeech's event at the PlayStation ThreeRooms in London, Phil Harrison answered some of his questions during the Q and A section. When he asked when the Remote Play from outside the home functionality be implemented, Harrison reportedly said that "Remote Play from wireless hotspots? It's included in the 1.6 update."
If Tom Kiss' report is to be considered, this means that by Euro Launch we should be able to access the files stored in our PS3, when near a hotspot, using our PSPs, anywhere in the world.
Nice, right?

Even with the quality at 1 (or is it 5) its near impossible to use just in my other room.
Also are people going to turn on there ps3 and switch it to remote play before they leave or something?
Guess we will see.

I hope Sony can reduce the absolutely insane power consumption in future PS3 models.

You're better off buying a bigger memory stick for the PSP than dealing with this crap.

Brag about it now but when you finally get the feature, I guarantee it will get used 1 time to see if it works, then maybe another to show your friend how high tec it is.
The PS3 uses over 250 watts of electricity and you're stupid if you're going to leave it on days or weeks at a time just to switch some movies or games because you play it constantly and just must have new content now.
I have a PSP with 4GB memory stick and I never need to be "constantly adding/removing movies and games." Then again, I only use it 30 min to an hour at a time. Do you play non stop for 8 hours or something?
I don't understand you people. You can buy a 4gb memory stick for like $80 then you don't need to worry about leaving the PS3 on or being in a wireless hotspot.
Common Sense people. You have none.

Also when you said 'how often will you be at a wireless hotspot with a PSP' - there will be plenty as 70% of all macdonalds have free wireless browsing, so do ASDA and many holiday camps provide it too.

Remote wake would be a great feature to add if they expect us to use this feature.

Your being a little arrogant with your reply. Seriously, different users have different needs. Perhaps you have no personal use for the new Remote Play option, but for those of us who run homebrew, emulated games and demos on our custom firmware PSPs, this feature could be handy(assuming someone can crack the new PSP firmware more than likely to be included with this new feature).
I have a 2GB Pro Duo and I'm out of space, my PS1 games take up one heck of a chunk of space and being able to stream video from my PS3 would be great! Its also nice to be able to access the photo collection, as my other portable devices(like my Archos 604) can't access my main PC wirelessly to find certain folders/images stored at home.
Their is use for every feature, but its user unique. Go enjoy your toy, quit criticizing it...

Well I have 2 1gig sticks. I dont fancy spending on a 4gig, when I have 2 perfectly good memory sticks availble to me.
Now that is common sense... Jesus
I'll think ill use that money on some games instead, and use the location free player for my PS3 :)

It seems that everybody here are getting extremely sick of your constant bias comments on the ps3.
Oh yes the other day I asked you if you get paid by Microsoft to post in ps3 news sites...
Well are you? you must be one can not find everything that has to do with, lets say the ps3 wrong... theres bound to be something you even like about the ps3...
So as my friend Dodo said so kindly get your s.t.i.n.k.y b.i.a.s. a.s.s. out of here!!!!
