Rebellion devs give PSP Go two thumbs up

It doesn't matter if some of you may find the PSP Go's design fugly. Veteran PSP developers seem to like it, and so they will be behind this redesigned PSP all the way. One such vet would be Rebellion, developer of Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, The Simpsons Game, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, to name a few.

Co-founder Chris Kingsley elaborates, "[W]e're right behind this new device. We see a bright future ahead for the PSP." In fact, they're liking the new design so much that they're definitely interested in making new games for the PSP Go, although it's not clear at this point if they mean it to be exclusive. After all, Sony did say that there will be no exclusive titles for the PSP Go, as it was not intended to compete with the 3K in the first place.

Borat gives PSP Go two thumbs up - Image 1 Nonetheless, Rebellion is impressed by what they saw. Apart from giving it a two-thumbs up for that "special Sony aesthetic that really makes it stand out", and for being pocket-sized:

It is a bold move into the future by Sony but one that was bound to happen sooner or later. It will open up a lot of opportunities for a wider range of games from established genres to new innovative concepts that otherwise would be too risky to develop.

In the past the games market has always been about maximising shelf space and sales in the first few months, but this can really help to expand the market and extend the sales life of titles for many months or even years.

Sorry

You can call me cheap, or whatever you want. But I didn't spend $200 on a PSP so I could spend another $200 every two years and replace it. I will stick with the Fat until it breaks, which amazingly has not happened.. yet.

Heh

I can accomplish all the 'functionality' of the GO by buying a new memory stick and putting it in my current PSP. Oh wait, no bluetooth. ...But oh wait, nothing to use the bluetooth with. Oh snap. Digital distribution is great, but making people pay the same price regardless even though they cut out the material, printing, shipping and shelving costs is ludicrous at best.

Rebellion, huh?

They don't count as developers. Those were pretty awful games and I hate that Star Wars game they made. Force Unleashed on PSP way better. Mainly cause they totally forgot to put in that special mode into the PSP Battlefront game. Really they may count but not in my book. Oh yes 4 awful games aswell, I might add, so there.

Yep

The simpsons game was absolutely pathetic (barely any antialiasing and poor rendering) and renegade squadron wasn't anything special.

Well at least they're keen...

But at the moment I can buy the physical media and run from a memory stick on CFW. And the 2000 is a much nicer looking bit of kit. So I'll stick with that and put the cash I would've spent on the unit on some more memory sticks.

In reference to Borat, "Very Nice~!"

Im agree with you

He is right, why would you want to waste money on a cheap skate PSP Go. I mean look taking away the UMD door was a terrible move (some people would love more room on there memory sticks than a bunch of games taking up space) If only the UMD disk's content could be delete and rewrite home brew, music,Other games (far as I know right there isn't a way) And PSP Go sucks :)

Lol Borat and a PSP GO....they so GO!

They are both hilarious! heh! and Sony made this lil cut down flimsy version of the PSP for WHAT? the younger crowd? for ppl on the GO? yeah right, i GO too, to the toilet but with my PSP3k thank you!....leaving the bona fide model behind and letting kids fumble with sliding screens? PLZ! they made the thing more sophisticated and they are looking for a new age group to rush into the GO fever! pheh! The 3ks been hacked and its oh so uber sweet to us all now....no thanks Borat...you and ur lil sliding buddy can GO! Next time Borat has a fight with his director, maybe he can slobber the ol fat dude with a nice sliding action from his GO n whoops there GOes the screen....bye bye! Plus who'd wanna smaller screen? as if u or me ever wanted to stuff our ol psps in our lil pockets to begin with...no thanks we all use something a little bigger coz we all love bigger! call me biased but im not stupid to flush out tht kinda cash fer sumthing thats got moving parts n eventually WILL slide off one day or another! nothings better than the original model (incl. 2k & 3k series) those made tht psp feel a little lesser than holding a brick but this...i cant find more words at the moment...shucks! and no umd...they are promoting piracy themselves...u think ppl wud buy the GO and not being able to load umd wouldnt pirate the digital copies...hah this ones a downer for Sony, i sadly had to mention!

plus

they cut the lifespan of the physical media by making digi copies...plus who depends on digital copies for firsts? they are meant to be backups anyway...buy as many umd-less version games as u want and wait for the moment ur hdd or the psp go unit flash drive crashes....hah! and M2 support for what? promoting their phones? im not digging in unless Sony decides to shove a lil M2 inside their other devices or come up with sumth like M3 or whatever! like u said bluetooth for what, PSPs work fine with the PS3 even without bluetooth or maybe they want the GO to act as another bluetooth controller for the PS3....ponder ponder....
