QuickJump QuickPeek 67: less talk, more games, QJ surprises, more |

Ó
It's all business this week as we've got some of the hottest updates for some of the hottest upcoming games on all platforms across the board. Big industry news as well, and a lot of other surprises.
Speaking of surprises, though, the QJ staff had quite a number of our own surprises for you avid readers out there. In case you missed it, too bad. But you don't have to feel bad about it much longer, cos we've got it all bundled nice and warm for you here in our QuickJump QuickPeek issue #67!
It was updates galore for the PSP gaming blog this week, with the likes of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Rock Band: Unplugged , and Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman: What Did I Do To Deserve This? showing off their wares. Consistent in appearance would be the ever-present rumors (it should really get a star soon for attendance). A patent for a PSP-controlled toy car also surfaced, much to the delight of PSP + race-car hobbyists.Link: PSP Weekend Warrior
Harder, faster, better, faster, stronger! This definitely suits the releases for the PSP homebrew front, spearheaded by the Daft Punk soundboard. A personal favorite of mine among the brews brewed the week past would be the new Etch-A-Sketch game. Well, it's always a favorite of mine, but yeah. I remember Chris Coker brought his new PC tablet to the office, with Karl excitedly looking on. I took a peek myself and had Chris and Karl go off on geekspeak about its features. I must have donned my deer-in-headlights look then, cos he turned to me and asked, "You do get this, right?" And I said, "Of course I do! It's like Etch-A-Sketch, only high-tech!" That got me kicked out of his room.

With the turn of the week, we arrive at yet the next PS3 Warrior. The Sony
empire is growing, and it doesn't show any signs of stopping. Whether
you're ready to catch the next big wave or not, consider yourself
carried away already.Dude, surf's up!

As I said in my Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior, it's been a sedate week for the talking corpo heads over at Microsoft. And while we did miss it, I say it's a good thing, cos at least it really was all about the games this time around. There was also the bit about Amazon's tie-up with Microsoft on the Xbo Live, as the online retailer sells online game codes for the green console's online service.Link: Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior
What's big this week on the WiiDS would be the new assets and details released by Konami for their definitely-not-a-remake install for the Silent Hill franchise, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. But then again, there's also that "other DS" making its rounds on the gaming console market. My guess is that Nintendo won't take nicely to this namesake.Link: WiiDS Weekend Warrior
It's a rather
skimpy update for this week, but at the very least it's a been
entertaining. From ups and downs, saying yes and no, what's hot and
what's not, who's in and who's out - gee, it reminds me so much of that
Katy Perry song...Link: iPhone Weekend Warrior
General Gaming:
The legendary video game creator of Sims and Spores have finally called it quits with his mothership company for the past 12 years. Will Wright is finally setting out on its own, spreading his wings and getting ready for take off to much higher stratas, with his co-founded new team in the Stupid Fun Club. I bet it'll be totally fun, and not one bit stupid. Good luck on your future solo endeavors, Mr. Wright!

More studies spewing off obvious truths. This time around, it's a study that concludes how non-violent games improve gamers' social behavior. The games they used for the study: Chibi Robo and Super Mario Sunshine. Well that must have been a very happy experience for the gamers, yes? Oh, and they're now coining it "prosocial games".

And it wasn't only the gaming community that had a big week. We here at QJ also had some major shake-ups, all for the pleasure of serving you better! Early this week, we launched the very nifty QJ.NET Toolbar. Have you downloaded it yet? If not, do try it out. It's cool, really.
Then, making a mad dash for the last-minute news bits for this week is the announcement of the best fraggin' contest EVAH, QJ's Frag'em Up Contest. Trust me you wouldn't want to miss this chance. Too bad staff can't join in and win the prizes. I'd love to get that super-duper computer for myself (insert manic, evil laughter here).

And as it's another week, it's another batch of QJ features. There's been a change in focus, though, as we divert our attention to the next homebrew haven, the iPhone. It's no PSP, but it's gonna be big, too. So if you've yet to get to know your iPhone and how to "homebrew-ize" it, I suggest you check out our QuickGuide #9 and How-To #9 issues. Not to mention, we've already got the zipped up versions of the said features for the whole month of March. So just keep jumpin' em up, we'll keep makin' them.
