PSP Weekend Warrior: of retail boxes with no UMDs, a porn-filled PSP and a gun to trade for a PSP |
Ó

Yeah, John Koller likes to talk about the PSP's upcoming games, and while it does get a little stale at times, it seems like the man really does mean what he says. The past few months alone have been some of the best to have a PSP, what with one game getting announced after another.
Hardware-wise, we're still in Zombieville thanks to the undying PSP2/PSP 4000 rumor. Things even got more interesting this week after the long-awaited portable version of Gran Turismo was rumored to be a launch title for the PSP2.
General News:
- A kid goes into a Wal-Mart and finds porn in his newly-bought PSP. No, that's not a setup for a joke. Link.
- This barely made it to this week's Warrior. A kid goes to school with his father's guns. He'd like to trade them in for a friend's PSP, he said. Link
- Words of wisdom from John Koller:
- Fighting words: Third-party exclusivity is so last gen, and Sony doesn't need to write cheques like Microsoft. Link.
- New PSP franchises, the PSP 4000, and Sony's plans for UMD. Link.
- Echoing words he himself said, Koller says that we haven't seen the end of all these PSP game announcements just yet. Link.
- Another PSP2 rumor, this time in the guise of another rumor about a portable Gran Turismo. Link.
- Although its sales dropped compared to last week, the PSP took back the top slot from the DSi in Media Create's Japanese hardware sales chart. Link.
- Advent Children Complete is the end of FF7 universe... for now. In other words, the cow needs to rest for a bit. Link.
- You may not have heard of it before, but horror-survival game ObsCure 2 is getting a PSP remake. Link.
- The PSP's getting a kinda-new Armored Core game. "Kinda" because it's a remake of the 7-year-old Armored Core 3. Link.
- For years, Devil May Cry fans hoped that the long-announced PSP version would someday see the light of day. This week, their hopes were dashed. Link.
- The new trailer for Final Fantasy Agito XIII is now online and it shows lots of battle gameplay. Link.
- MotorStorm: Arctic Edge devs BigBig Games talks about platform power, icy physics, and new vehicles. Link.
- Is Gran Turismo Portable going to be a PSP2 launch title? That's what word from the rumor mill points to. Link.
- Rock Band: Unplugged won't be doing a Resistance: Retribution -- there's no PS3-PSP connectivity planned for this game and Rock Band PS3. Link.
- We got to see some preview footage, too. Link.
- The saga of the UMD-less US release of Patapon 2, which led to an outcry among those who'd rather have physical media than a digital download:
- SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 was announced (Link), and this (Link) is what it's gonna look like.
- And speaking of how things are gonna look like, we also got a look at the Persona PSP remake's opening movie. Link.
