PSP Slim disassembly pics - Image 1The folks over at TGBUS.com have gotten their hands on a PSP Slim, and they've taken the time to take it apart and give the PSP community a look at the innards of Sony's new PlayStation Portable.

There's a whole lot of pictures showing everything from the screen to the motherboard, even the UMD mechanism. You can also see the TA-085 marking clearly on the new PSP's board. You can check out all the images by clicking on the Read link below.

There are no pictures of a box, though, so we don't know if this is one of the new production models or an older prototype model. The new PSPs are reportedly already available at SonyStyle's Hong Kong store, however, so odds are it's new. 0okm has also gotten his hands on a brand new PSP-2006PB with the intention of disassembling it. Keep an eye on this blog for further updates.

» No game memorystick?

Is it just me or is the PSP Slim missing the memorystick Icon under game?

Is it just hidden or don't they support eboots from the memorystick anymore :x

I wonder how they'd do FW upgrades then tho and demo's

» Pandora's battery that sucker

What are you waiting for?

by weapon - 2007-08-31 06:52

the jap slim probably just dosent have a memstick inserted.

by chokeyspsp - 2007-08-31 06:55
» cramped

well lookin at all the pics (i cant read japanese) I can see the analog has a different design, the screen is like half the depth, the umd door looks flimsy, and the internals looked even more cramped(hard to breathe!) the serial port has 6 prongs just like the psp1000, but are positioned different....It probably has a different path, but if it dont..I dont see why a

psp2000 av out cord couldn't be modded with a psp1000 remote cord to get av out on a psp1000!...boy i wish i could read japanese!

» Analog stick is different

HOORAY FOR PSP SLIM.. There are more changes than I thought. Screen has better contrast and brighter. Analog stick is different. That's really really good. I broke 3 analog stick already..

» stop spamming

this is a psp site. not a come and fill us with spam website..

I will bet that the rating system in the top right of my comment box will only give me 1 star lol

I like the new psp design. I think that the new psp is gonna be the major profit earner for SONY. Hopefully its hackable!!!

wink*

» Yeah, it doesn't work yet

Someone tried it a while ago, and it didn't work. It did boot from the memory stick but it wouldn't run the program. It probably just needs to be optimized for the new psp slim.

i give it to em that was a nice try. Almost had me going.

» re: video out

There was a product you could retro fit to your PSP but it involved soldering. Lik-sang used to sell it.

» i wonder..

i dont think it works with pandora. this psp got totally different motherboard, different electronic. and if it downgraded to 1.5, it must lose its ability to connect to Tv and other stuff compare to old psp. so whats the point?

by Tsuri - 2007-08-31 10:27
» Lifted Screens

Was just looking at the article picture and thought, "hey wouldnt it be cool if they made a mod to lift the screen while it was on?" Lets say you wanna watch a movie. Instead of holding the psp the entire time just lay it down and lift up the screen.

by tiago - 2007-08-31 10:43
» video out

yeah i know but i was think about putting an equal plug on the regular psp i think it's doable!

What I'm looking for is someone to leak out FW 3.60.

by .. - 2007-08-31 11:45
» ....

the psp slim's mobo isnt gonna allow kernel less than 3.60. sony's not retarded, and good luck reverse engineering that sh1T. itll take ages. we'll need to find an exploit the old way. itll be a while before we get anything near a cfw on a psp2000

by Sephiroth2906 - 2007-08-31 13:27
» Let's get him!

He left his email! Send him messages asking for more info, string the bastard along, then tell him to go to hell after wasting his time. It will take him a lot longer to go through several Emails the for each of us to send him one every once in a while. Or just sign him up for porn.

» Hey

Hey, its just me or this psp got more theme colors?!

by cheese eater - 2007-08-31 15:54
» nice

ya I like that idea

by Great - 2007-08-31 20:54
» Idea

Shouldn't be too hard, just a spring loaded latch like the umd door but attached to the screen... probably pretty dangerous though, your screen will probably break (as in "break in half") really easy if it gets knocked onto the ground etc... Anyone good with things like this, give it a try, tell us if it works, you might be able to make a modding service from it...

by K - 2007-08-31 22:00
» A

Yeah it has 28 as oppose to our 13, but that could be in 3 .60

» Stupid question.

Is it just me or is the IR missing

by B - 2007-09-01 03:06

They took out the IR because no one used it

I actually went to his site, and after doing some research, i found a site that works better:

www.c*shcrate.com/259295 (just replace the * with an A) I've made some pretty quick money! Try it out. Just helping you guys out! I just earned $69.69 (lol, two "69"... heh heh) in only a few minutes! Just do the ebay offer, stamps offer, and google and web.com offers. Vonage was quick too!

by boink - 2007-09-01 05:01
» I use it

I use it when watching movies on my xbox as a remote

by AT_DA - 2007-09-01 05:06
» a

I fail to see why it had IR to begin with. I mean...WIFI people, WIFI. The things can easily talk amongst themselves without the need for outdated stuff like that.
