PSP Slim and Lite breaks 500,000 mark in Japan |
Ó
Sony's PSP Slim and Lite has reportedly sold 500,000 thousand units within two weeks of its initial release in Japan. This comes as no surprise considering a week before the designated September 20 launch, the company decided to release a Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII 10th Anniversary package. It was reported that all 77,777 sets were immediately sold besting every other console in the market. The article on the website Mainichi news pointed out that the surge in sales can partially be attributed to the different colors and lighter frame of the PSP Slim and Light which has appealed to the female market. Another feature that might have attracted buyers is the ability of the handheld to output its images on the television and the TV tuner attachment.
All in all, this is very good news for Sony as it shows the amount of market interest the new system has been generating in Japan. Since the initial reaction has been favorable, it's now a matter of whether Sony will be able to maintain the people's enthusiasm about the product.
Thanks to super7 for the tip!

and still going strong
you know that like 80% of psp users have no idea what homebrew is right?
I Know That, But It was Just Alil Insight
But Hey Atleast We Know What It Is
Its funny how things start selling like hotcakes when theyre made smaller. The DS tanked right after it launched, but then EVERYONE had to have it after the Lite came out. Now that the PSP is a little smaller, people are gobbling it up. I dont think the PS3 needs a price cut, it just needs to be packaged up into a cute little chassis.
It looks as gorgeous as it is. Jus imagine after getting that power brick out and shrinking everythin else. Wonder if it will hav curves and be any smaller than the ps2 slim?
What? DS was always more popular...it was huge when I got mine, well before the lite. The people most excited for the lite that I know all already has DSes, then they picked up another...or two (seriously, a white and a black...).
And a PS3 smaller than a PS2 slim? You realizse that'd make it the smallest home gaming console, right? And that it still needs a HDD in it?
