Revision 717 of DaedalusX64, the ever-popular Nintendo 64 emulator for the PlayStation portable is now out folks, bringing a new set of changes and improvements.

DaedalusX64

Changelog:

  • [=>] Merged from Dev branch:
    • Rev 302 - Corn
      • [+] Implemented RumblePak support
      • [+] RumblePak / MemPak option added to global options (RumblePak shakes screen when active).
      • Note: Enable RumblePak before booting ROM (also enable clean scene if there is garbage left on screen when shaking)
    • Rev 303 - Salvy
      • [!} Separate rumblepak from mempak to avoid any conflicts and keep code tyde
    • Rev 304 - Salvy
      • [!] Corrected regression in dynarec from 366 that caused random lock ups in several games
    • Rev 305 - Salvy
      • [~] Forgot to revert these in 644

Developer's note:

This release of DaedalusX64 is currently in beta stages of development.

As for the past releases of Daedalus PSP, this project is intended to show the potential for a N64 emulator on the PSP, but the currentrelease has many missing features that make it far from usable:

  • Many roms won't boot.
  • Some roms have serious graphical glitches.
  • Various roms have random lockups and crashes.
  • Many roms run at a low framerate.

Having said all that, We believe most of these problems can be overcome in the near future.

Installation:

  • Copy the Daedalus folder to the \PSP\GAME\ folder on your PSP.
  • Daedalus requires Custom Firmware 4.00 or higher, failing to install CFW 4.00 or higher will mean Daedalus does not load past the firmware check screen.

Upgrade Procedure

  • Remove all HLE files from the SaveGames folder
  • Remove rom.db and preferences.ini
  • This will ensure that Daedalus is fresh.

this is really cool. glad to see the team is still working on this.
hopefully when the ps vita comes out they'll port it to there and add even more improvments.
the mempack and rumble support are interesting new features. Does anyone know if they have expansion pack support yet?

also wouldn't using the n64 bios help with emulating stuff. i mean gpsp uses the gba bios to help it run

I think the PSV is BC for PSP, so that might be a pretty reasonable conversion.
