Interested in getting a PSP Go but is waiting for its price to drop to something more reasonable and affordable? This might be your chance. Sony has come up with a method for you to get US$ 50 off their new handheld, along with a PlayStation Card.

PlayStation Credit Card - Image 1

Okay, it sounds pretty and all, but just in case you stopped reading at "get US$ 50 off", I suggest you read on. The catch is that you have to apply for the PlayStation Card. If your application gets approved, you will receive a US$ 50 card credit which you can use when purchasing your PSP Go. Oh, by the way, to get that credit, you have to "spend a total of US$ 200 or more over four (4) months".

So, let's do some quick math here. US$ 200 (PS credit card) + US$ 199 (PSP Go) = US$ 399. The PSP Go is at US$ 249. But hey, at US$ 249, you don't have a credit card. And you know what not having a credit card means: no credit to worry about.

Yeah, it sure is a good deal, you think?

Thanks to Cameron R. for the tip!

You just keep on pumping out the junk,no one wants this thing can't u see that lol.

lol funny thing is

they're discounting the psp cause it was somewhat of a bust. I really don't like the PSP Go being memstick only. I like UMDs, and have several opened UMDs, I collect my UMDs for the most part.

oh..

I forgot, I did however like the Bluetooth idea, cause I'd love to play PSN games like FF7 using a ps3 controller.

...

Ok I is just retarded to get a credit card for this... If you are one of the ones that want this console, just put $25-50 a week aside to get it.... trust me you will be saving money in the long run.

Not really.

As long as you pay your card before the month expires, you won't be hit with a credit charge to pay. Use it on your groceries, bills, luxuries. Within a month because of bills and such, I could spend over $200 on it, and then pay it off before the end of the month.

I would suggest using it and paying it off for a couple months though, because applying for credit cards then cutting them up as soon as you get the bonus will slightly hurt your credit than if you use the card a few months and get it paid off before getting rid of it.

Until it can call..

It's just as useless as the other models beyond the first PSP.

Wouldnt it just be cheaper if,

You just buy the PSP GO? I mean come on, they want you to spend over 200 Bucks in 4 months, while you could use that money on buying a PSP GO and get it in like a day if you wanted to. They want you to spend over 200$ to get 50$ off of a psp go, while you could just spend the 250$ instead of spending more money. God, sony is desperate for cash

???

Isnt Skype a form of calling, and I would have to say I absolutely love my psp go and almost everything about it Cough * not bluetooth PAN support * Cough

Moron.

You spend $200 in four months doesn't mean it has to be on Sony. They just want you to use their card and atleast purchase $200 worth of stuff. Doesn't mean you can't pay it off.

Like I said in an above post. Purchase groceries and pay your bills. That'll be over $200 in a single month. Pay it off so you don't get any credit charges.

That's where Sony hopes to get people, much like any other store credit card where they give you discounts, etc. They hope you leave the money on the card a month, maybe a few months. That means they'll make it back in interest. However, if you're responsible, you can still get the $50 dollars and never have to pay interest.

Shipping...

Also, you have to remember that once you do get the $200 requirement, the credit to be delivered to you will take like 4 more months... LOL!

i agree

i agree but i think it is better to pay cash strait out then having credit on your name. A lot of people don't know better and wont pay it off before the end of the month

So....

Another way to hike up the price for a product which isn't really wanted by the consumer....

by Erique555 - 2009-11-14 12:13
i see

I see you forget about all the taxes and interests the card will cost itself. But, i dont care how you spend your money. I buy my psp go for 250$, while you spend over 400 bucks in 4 months just to get 50$ off.

Alright then..

If it was able to call without a connection.

This is when...

I imagine all those corporate CEOs in their high roller suits raking in all those bucks at the expense of our beloved hardware without even playing it...

by SupaDawg - 2009-11-14 19:57
As a matter of fact

He did not forget about the taxes. His rationale is sound, but yours shows a fundamental misunderstandin g about how the credit card industry operates.

Assuming that this card has no annual fee (which they usually do not). He could essentially charge all of his daily expenses to the card and simply pay them off using web banking the same month. No added costs, and no interest accrues.

Say my weekly expenses are $200 (in fact, they are higher than this, but i digress). I simply place all my expenses on the card that week and pay it off on the following Monday. I have not spent a single penny of which i would not have spent otherwise, and I would have received the $50 bonus.

Heck, with banking fees being what they tend to be, one often saves money by using a credit card in such a way.

Now, personally, I have absolutely no desire to own a Go, but painting this as a bad deal is a blatant fallacy.

Interesting

The blogger seems to have failed to read the promotion whatsoever. The promotion breaks down as follows:

Your purchase of the Sony product as described in this offer, (“Qualifying Purchase”) equal or greater than $249 will qualify you for a $50 Statement Credit. Qualifying Purchase must be made within the first 30 days of account opening and may not be combined with any other Sony Card or PlayStation® Card offer. Statement Credit will be posted to your PlayStation® Card Statement within 8-12 weeks from Qualifying Purchase.

You will be eligible receive one additional $50 statement credit, after you spend a total of $200 or more at PlayStation®Net work (PSN) with your PlayStation® Card (excludes all other non-PSN charges) during the first four months your Card is registered at PlayStation® Network.

As in, you receive the first $50 credit once you are approved for the card and buy the PSPGo within 30 days (no spending requirement outside of the qualifying purchase) and the second $50 credit once you have used that same card to purchase $200 worth on content on the playstation store within a 4 month time frame.
