Head's up to all PlayStation Portable owners, Sony has just announced a new firmware update for the handheld, that's offers relatively nothing news, besides the usual stability improvement when using certain unspecified features.

Tagged as system software update version 6.39, the upcoming update is expected to go live "soon."
"Hi everyone. A new PSP system software update, v6.39, will be released soon. With this update, users who need to change their PlayStation Network password will be guided through the process," notes SCEA's Eric Lempel, director of PlayStation Network operations. "Also, system software stability during use of some features will be improved."
The comes a week after Sony released a similar update for the PS3 that forces users to change their PSN passwords. The firm has been working for days now trying to restore its PlayStation Network services online after the unfortunate mid-April attack that left 77 million PSN account users in a limbo after some unknown individuals managed to steal their info.

As ps360 owner says (often): Put something functional rather than just an exploit fix every FW update, and many more people will ditch their dinky homebrews for a more integrated experience between handheld and console.
Remember how many people upgraded with liberty city stories to 2.0 for that horrid web browser on the psp, giving up their mega smeksy 1.5 kxploited 1g. Remember how long it also took them to make the 2.0 tiff exploit downgrader?
