Sony is bringing another revolution on the go as they announced a new digital reader application for the PSP during GameCom. This new service will allow PSP owners to access a wide array of media content and will kick off this December with Digital Comics.

According to Sony, the digital reader service will put PSP owners in control of a huge library of Digital Comics from leading comic publishers including Marvel Entertainment (Spider-Man, X-Men and the Fantastic Four), contents from IDW Publishing (TRANSFORMERS and Star Trek), iVerse Media (Archie Comics) and others, as well as graphic novels for bite-sized entertainment on demand and on the go:

The intuitive Autoflow feature allows you to zoom in and move from frame to frame on each digital page, mimicking the way your eyes would move across a print page from left to right. ItÂ’s straightforward and simple to use, and thanks to PSPÂ’s high contrast LCD screen, your comics will be looking better than ever as the stunning graphics leap out from the screen.

Digital Comics will be avaialble this December in the UK, US, Irish, Australian, New Zealand and South African PlayStation Stores, with other PAL territories to follow.

They should have thought of this like 10 years ago before they even conceived of the PSP! Really, to complain that somebody didn't come up with an idea quick enough. Do we always have to find something to complain about?

I already sorta do this, but this I guess is the more legal way. But, I'm more of a DC man. They got me far too into Blackest Night at moment for me to care about much else in comics right now.

I don't really like paying for comics though. I prefer buying the trades, but by the time they're out everyone's spoiled all the plot twists and surprises so I read the comic scans first and then buy the trades for re-reading and looking all nice and easy to find on my shelf.
