PSP: A Possible Terrorist Device? |

Terrorists' activities, which lead to the bombing of the Twin Towers and the hostage incidents in Iraq, have been eye openers for every person, especially for authorities to be on the watch against these people who intend to bring havoc, destruction, and fear to others.Even portable gaming devices are now under authorities' scrutiny as they are now more than just toys. Take for example Sony's PSP. Apparently, for the Washington, D.C. police, PSP, with its wireless and homebrew capabilities, can be a possible terrorist device. A guy playing Tekken on his PSP outside a federal building got the shock of his life after being shook down by the police in Washington, D.C.
Of course, the D.C. police are only doing their job to protect and serve, and the apprehended guy knows this. We're living in a time where almost anything - even a seemingly innocent water bottle - placed in the wrong hands can prove disastrous.

Personally I think this is all getting out of hand. We're already shoeless, thirsty, computerless and unentertained on airplanes now, when will we get upset enough to stop this?
I'm Canadian, the worst we do on an airplane is ask for a second bag of peanuts. My PSP can do a lot of things, but haven't found the homebrew app "Airplane Crasher 1.5" yet.
They used a $2 box cutter the last time, I doubt they really need fancy technology to get the job done.
I don't know about this, but those pictures of the World Trade Center seem a little too..how shall I say..violent? That doesn't bring back nice memories...

I can't believe comments such as 314 are allowed to be posted in this PSP forum, encouraging hate towards a population of 1 billion on this planet just because a fanatical minority (a minority as small as a coupla hundreds) have hijacked the name of a peaceful religion such as Islam to justify the stupid bombing of civilians in the West. They are indeed terrorsits, but they are brainwashed by sickos who have ulterior motives and enjoy the thrill of destruction. World Trade Center was brought down by explosives, a plane ca never do it, and what the hell was on the belly of the plane. that wasn't a plane with alot of passengers. In fact, it was a US Air Force Plane, a Cargo plane. It shot a missle into the world trade center just as it went in.
Flight 93 was checked for a bomb in New Orleans at 11:00am, but somehow crashed at 10am in Pensylvania.
No plane hit the pentagon. It was a missile. There is not one video showing footage of a plane. A gas station had footage of a missile entering, but the footage WAS confiscated by the FBI. There was no way a plane of such dimensions can fit into a small hole. Where are all the parts to this "plane" Where is the real damage that a plane somehow took down a huge tower, but makes a 15 foot hole in a later accident? You decide

It is only right that the police officer should be observed by Police when they're outside a federal building, holding and operating a system which has full Wi-fi capability's and the ability to run custom code.

An airliner almost certainly did not hit The Pentagon. Hard physical evidence supports this conclusion; among other things, the hole in the Pentagon was considerably smaller than an airliner would create. The building was thus presumably hit by something smaller, possibly a missile, or a drone or, less possibly, a smaller manned aircraft. Absolutely no information is available on what happened to the original aircraft (American Airlines Flight 77), the crew, the “hijackers,†and the passengers. The “official story,†as it appeared in The 9/11 Commission Report simply says, “At 9:37:46, American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon, traveling at approximately 530 miles per hour. All on board, as well as many civilians and military personnel in the building, were killed.†The North and South Towers of the World Trade Center almost certainly did not collapse and fall to earth because hijacked aircraft hit them. A plane did not hit Building 7 of the Center, which also collapsed. All three were most probably destroyed by controlled demolition charges placed in the buildings before 9/11. A substantial volume of evidence shows that typical residues and byproducts from such demolition charges were present in the three buildings after they collapsed. The quality of the research done on this subject is quite impressive.

the plane took out a street light on the bridge (overpass) right before it went into the building. it hit the ground (parkinglot) and then slid into the building, the plane didn't go into the building. That day there was video of the plane parts all over the parkinglot of the Pentagon.

Some weeks ago I had worked in a conservation group and we had some special events to go to. One of them was meeting Tony Blair, Former President Bill Clinton, the Mayor of San Francisco aswell as the mayor London and the mayor of Los Angeles. It was at UCLA, which is University Of Los Angeles. They were going to talk about The Clinton Foundation, Bill Clinton's thing to help whatever to save the world's resources. Anyways, me and my friends had brang our PSP's incase it was going to get boring. Now, this place had secret service everywhere, they even had them on buildings. When we were about to go into the building, you had to get scan with those metal detector things. My supervisor went first and already went into the building. I'm glad he went first because if he saw me being asked to take out my PSP by the secret service guy I would get fired. Anyways my friends went first (the ones who had PSP's) and I didnt see want happend but I didn't hear or see any big commotion. Anyways, when I went, of course obviously, my PSP got detected, and so the secret service guy said to take it out. I took it out and to my suprise, he seemed ok with it. I tried to humor him like... "Uhh the job can get really boring.." and "Heh, don't tell my supervisor." and so as I took it out he was saying things like "I know what you mean.." "*laugh* then show it to your supervisor then" and so I got off free. When I went to my friends I told them what happend. Well, the reason why I didn't get in trouble was that my friends who went first told them what it was. As usual, "Portable gaming device" I'm kind of suprised though.

The playstation portable doubles as an infrared remote. If any of you knew anything, you'd all know that an IR mote is sufficient enough to detonate any type of substance on an aircraft or even worse, a public building. Wi-Fi capabilites are something to watch out for too, it's a perfectly legitimate situation to worry about. In this day in age, everything tech has its downsides. A PSP has just as many reasons to be a threat to society as a detonator does. And it has the clever disguise for one, too.

Regarding 9/11, I honestly don't care who did it. Innocent people died because of an overzealous cause. On a whole, Americans are some of the nicest people you'll meet. Do some research and you'll see how generous we are compared to the British, who were once regarded as the most "brilliant" and "charming". You might think that this is a result from 9/11, and you might be right. Americans pull together after such a loss, just as with any other group. The reason behind it maybe shady, but the outcome of unity is beautiful regardless of who you may be.
Personally, I don't like the President. His words influence those who are uneducated. But as a President, he makes every American look bad the way Hitler did with Germans. 9/11 was ordered by the USA , if you people knew simple physics you would have knowned that the twin towers if being hit by a plane through the south would have falled south , not to the east and the floors shouldn't have collapsed like they collapsed ( 75 , 22 and then 1 ). I sincerely hope that was the intention of this article. I'm glad someone isn't all up in arms bout all the security issues we're having. Truth is that the people who are out to get us, the US, aren't just out to get us. And they don't use the means of traditional warfare. While it's a "sucky" idea that we have to watch the things we carry onto planes or act slightly different as to not attract the wrong attention, or have to go through a security detail or two, truth is it's better than the consequences. And to think that the persons involved in the checks are getting a kick out of it is as arrogant and ignorant a statement as they come. The real travesty is that people don't realize that there are entities out there who don't understand the concept of freedom, and assume it's a god given RIGHT. Let's forget so easily then that our "God" isn't always their "God." Sometimes, Freedom has a cost. And if some simple uncomfortable circumstances allow me to go home and see my family and friends without hope of dying or having horrific events ensue, so beit.
