PSP: A Possible Terrorist Device?

PSPTerrorists' activities, which lead to the bombing of the Twin Towers and the hostage incidents in Iraq, have been eye openers for every person, especially for authorities to be on the watch against these people who intend to bring havoc, destruction, and fear to others.

Even portable gaming devices are now under authorities' scrutiny as they are now more than just toys. Take for example Sony's PSP. Apparently, for the Washington, D.C. police, PSP, with its wireless and homebrew capabilities, can be a possible terrorist device. A guy playing Tekken on his PSP outside a federal building got the shock of his life after being shook down by the police in Washington, D.C.

Of course, the D.C. police are only doing their job to protect and serve, and the apprehended guy knows this. We're living in a time where almost anything - even a seemingly innocent water bottle - placed in the wrong hands can prove disastrous.

» Ridiculous...

Personally I think this is all getting out of hand. We're already shoeless, thirsty, computerless and unentertained on airplanes now, when will we get upset enough to stop this?

I'm Canadian, the worst we do on an airplane is ask for a second bag of peanuts. My PSP can do a lot of things, but haven't found the homebrew app "Airplane Crasher 1.5" yet.

They used a $2 box cutter the last time, I doubt they really need fancy technology to get the job done.

I can't believe comments such as 314 are allowed to be posted in this PSP forum, encouraging hate towards a population of 1 billion on this planet just because a fanatical minority (a minority as small as a coupla hundreds) have hijacked the name of a peaceful religion such as Islam to justify the stupid bombing of civilians in the West. They are indeed terrorsits, but they are brainwashed by sickos who have ulterior motives and enjoy the thrill of destruction. They and are NOT Muslims despite their claims to be and their Islamised names, simply because they do exactly the opposite of what Islam and the Qur'an/Koran instructs them to do. The fault of real Muslims is that they just wallow in their anger instead of correcting their image and teaching the West especially about what Islam is really all about. The fault of the West is that they don't learn from reliable sources about Islam and Muslims but just believe what their media, which is controlled by Bush's neo-con administration, tells them to believe.

This is a time to control hate and violence, not to propagate it.

» Correction

I was replying to post number 14, not 314, that was a typo. By the way I live in the Middle East and see first hand what is happening. What you see on Fox News and Sky News for example (I got them obviously) is very far from the truth.

And Maia L., you call the 'hostage incidents' in Iraq as terrorist actions. They indeed are, but are done by the abductors for fame and MONEY, yes, they demand ransoms to release the prisoners, despite their claims only in video that this is in response to US forces atrocities in the region.

And answer this question: The US said Iraq had WMDs and was a threat. So they carpet bombed the country, abused Iraqis in prisons, rape and kill the Iraqi civilians currently and steal their oil and aid money. Isn't this REAL TERRORISM? Of an entire country? Killing more of them that 9/11 ever did? (I condemn the 9/11 killing as well).

And most importantly, the WMDs were never found...they never existed. The USA destroyed a nation on a lie. And now because of their mismanagement, Iraq is on the brink of a civil war. Please open your eyes and see what your government is doing, before calling Muslis names and blaming them for your insecurity.

World Trade Center was brought down by explosives, a plane ca never do it, and what the hell was on the belly of the plane. that wasn't a plane with alot of passengers. In fact, it was a US Air Force Plane, a Cargo plane. It shot a missle into the world trade center just as it went in.

Flight 93 was checked for a bomb in New Orleans at 11:00am, but somehow crashed at 10am in Pensylvania.

No plane hit the pentagon. It was a missile. There is not one video showing footage of a plane. A gas station had footage of a missile entering, but the footage WAS confiscated by the FBI. There was no way a plane of such dimensions can fit into a small hole. Where are all the parts to this "plane" Where is the real damage that a plane somehow took down a huge tower, but makes a 15 foot hole in a later accident? You decide

Squibs LONG before it collapses. Not to mention people were waving from the \"3000\" degree impacts hole. NO PLANE HIT WTC7 wich collapsed in the same manner as the 2, and under 7 seconds FREEFALL speed, and the owner Larry Silverstein ADMITTED to destroying the wtc7. Proof of thermite is on the video. I saw the pentagon with my own 2 eyes on 9/11. people died there. Is there no value to human life for you? Where does this anger come from that you spout such hate towards so many, be they americans or muslim, you hate them?

Why are anti-mideast comments deleted and anti-american ones aren't?

If you think 9/11 was a hoax or faked or planned by Bush, you are welcome to your opinions, enjoy the influence "enlightenment" has on you. An inability to accept reality as being real. You'll say "what is real? how do I know reality exsists." Such a person would say the Holocaust was not real... that doesn't bring back the millions of people, both Jew and Gentile, who were slaughtered because they were not "perfect".

Continue to wear your blinders, deny reality and hope that everything you see is a dream. Think to yourself "perhaps, if I believe hard enough, then nothing will be real, I can do and say whatever I want and none of it will have consiquences... I could even kill God, then I'd be free."

I hope all of you find Truth.

An airliner almost certainly did not hit The Pentagon. Hard physical evidence supports this conclusion; among other things, the hole in the Pentagon was considerably smaller than an airliner would create. The building was thus presumably hit by something smaller, possibly a missile, or a drone or, less possibly, a smaller manned aircraft. Absolutely no information is available on what happened to the original aircraft (American Airlines Flight 77), the crew, the “hijackers,†and the passengers. The “official story,†as it appeared in The 9/11 Commission Report simply says, “At 9:37:46, American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon, traveling at approximately 530 miles per hour. All on board, as well as many civilians and military personnel in the building, were killed.†The North and South Towers of the World Trade Center almost certainly did not collapse and fall to earth because hijacked aircraft hit them. A plane did not hit Building 7 of the Center, which also collapsed. All three were most probably destroyed by controlled demolition charges placed in the buildings before 9/11. A substantial volume of evidence shows that typical residues and byproducts from such demolition charges were present in the three buildings after they collapsed. The quality of the research done on this subject is quite impressive.

Some weeks ago I had worked in a conservation group and we had some special events to go to. One of them was meeting Tony Blair, Former President Bill Clinton, the Mayor of San Francisco aswell as the mayor London and the mayor of Los Angeles. It was at UCLA, which is University Of Los Angeles. They were going to talk about The Clinton Foundation, Bill Clinton's thing to help whatever to save the world's resources. Anyways, me and my friends had brang our PSP's incase it was going to get boring. Now, this place had secret service everywhere, they even had them on buildings. When we were about to go into the building, you had to get scan with those metal detector things. My supervisor went first and already went into the building. I'm glad he went first because if he saw me being asked to take out my PSP by the secret service guy I would get fired. Anyways my friends went first (the ones who had PSP's) and I didnt see want happend but I didn't hear or see any big commotion. Anyways, when I went, of course obviously, my PSP got detected, and so the secret service guy said to take it out. I took it out and to my suprise, he seemed ok with it. I tried to humor him like... "Uhh the job can get really boring.." and "Heh, don't tell my supervisor." and so as I took it out he was saying things like "I know what you mean.." "*laugh* then show it to your supervisor then" and so I got off free. When I went to my friends I told them what happend. Well, the reason why I didn't get in trouble was that my friends who went first told them what it was. As usual, "Portable gaming device" I'm kind of suprised though.

The most dangerous terrorist group today is Bush & Co.

Also, half of all the terrorists today aren't terrorist. Why is a person called terrorist when he fight for his country? Is it wrong to defend your own country from some foreign invader?

Alot of Americans will never understand what they are doing or who they are supporting until another country someday illegally invade them, drive tanks through their streets, kill their people, rape their women and girls, make massacres in some random place, make air strikes, abuse people and prisoners and call anyone who fight back against the invaders as terrorists even if it's Americans who are fighting to defend their country.

In case if some people here haven't noticed, religion do not kill, people do. If some people here are going to call all muslims terrorists thanks to several peoples actions then people might as well call every american a rapist which sound pretty stupid since most Americans aren't rapists.

Demolition of World Trade Center Building 7 ON 911,

Larry Silverstein, the owner of the WTC complex, admitted on a September 2002 PBS documentary, 'America Rebuilds' that he and the NYFD decided to 'pull' WTC 7 on the day of the attack. The word 'pull' is industry jargon for taking a building down with explosives.

We have attempted to call Larry Silverstein's office on several occasions. Silverstein has never issued a retraction for his comments.

Photos taken moments before the collapse of WTC 7 show small office fires on just two floors.

Firefighters were told to move away from the building moments before it collapsed.

In February of 2002 Silverstein Properties won $861 million from Industrial Risk Insurers to rebuild on the site of WTC 7. Silverstein Properties' estimated investment in WTC 7 was $386 million. So: This building's collapse resulted in a profit of about $500 million!

Whats new? Laptops can be used to detonate bombs! Oh my god!

The playstation portable doubles as an infrared remote. If any of you knew anything, you'd all know that an IR mote is sufficient enough to detonate any type of substance on an aircraft or even worse, a public building. Wi-Fi capabilites are something to watch out for too, it's a perfectly legitimate situation to worry about. In this day in age, everything tech has its downsides. A PSP has just as many reasons to be a threat to society as a detonator does. And it has the clever disguise for one, too.

Airline Insanity Merely A Beta Test For Police State Caste System

Escalating security measures, body scans, lie detector tests and behavior analysis now being forced upon unwitting human livestock passing through airports are the first stage of an agenda to create a two tier caste system whereby only government authorized citizens will be able to travel and everyone will be subject to intense airport style harassment on city streets.

It comes as no surprise that Popular Mechanics is owned by Hearst Corporation. As fictionalized in Orson Welles\' acclaimed film Citizen Kane, William Randolph Hearst wrote the book on cronyism and yellow journalism and Popular Mechanics hasn\'t bucked that tradition.#38\'s link he posted is a whitewash. The article also makes no mention whatsoever of the numerous war games scheduled for the morning of 9/11 which confused air defense personnel as to the true nature of the attack as it unfolded, as is documented by the recent release of the NORAD tapes. We all agree about the planes hitting the 2 towers, but NO PLANE hit WTC7 which fell in freefall speed (under 7 seconds in its foundation) with the classic crimp wich is the blowing of the central column,to knock it down.

One of the most glaring errors in the Popular Mechanics hit piece appears in the 'Intercepts Not Routine' section where it is claimed that, "In the decade before 9/11, NORAD intercepted only one civilian plane over North America: golfer Payne Stewart's Learjet, in October 1999."

As Jim Hoffman points out in his excellent rebuttal, "This bold assertion flies in the face of a published report of scramble frequencies that quotes the same Maj. Douglas Martin that is one of PM's cited experts!"

Non-Americans who talk trash about Americans, I have to hand it to you guys how you guys constantly rant on Americans and how we're "stupid" or "the real terrorists". Wake the ***** up. If you have something against the way the President is running his personal agenda, you might want to do a little research about the Skull & Bones society and how we really have no control over the Presidency. The average American would rather live in peace than to start conflict with someone else. Of course, there are dumb ass Americans who are just like you guys, and they talk a whole lot of garbage about othere countries and their people. Honestly, if you guys feel so strongly about your beliefs that other nations aren't doing their job, you might as well take the liberty of joining the armed forces, militia, etc. and make use of yourselves, only to be brainwashed again by an unethical cause.

Regarding 9/11, I honestly don't care who did it. Innocent people died because of an overzealous cause. If it was the President who made it happen, it truly shows how incapable he is at succeeding as "the man". Shadowing your people with lies is so cliche, and as anyone would agree, what goes around WILL come around. Not only has he made a fool of himself in front of his people, he has embarrassed this nation in the eyes of many around the world. If it were one of the middle-eastern groups Bush keeps rambling about that planned the event...good call. You got more than what you bargained for.

On a whole, Americans are some of the nicest people you'll meet. Do some research and you'll see how generous we are compared to the British, who were once regarded as the most "brilliant" and "charming". You might think that this is a result from 9/11, and you might be right. Americans pull together after such a loss, just as with any other group. The reason behind it maybe shady, but the outcome of unity is beautiful regardless of who you may be.

Personally, I don't like the President. His words influence those who are uneducated. It's funny to watch him as he blinks 100 bpm while he does his speeches, and listening to him mess up on his speeches is pure comedy. But as a President, he makes every American look bad the way Hitler did with Germans. It's got to stop...I'd personally like to have my brother back home instead of fighting for a cause he doesn't believe in.

There are betetr ways of getting bombs on planes .... skin folds....up your wazzoo! In artificail Limbs .... you can ever use your show strings as detonation devices.... put explosives in your fake eye... better yet just come on board with arsenic or cyanide in your pockets.... ricin ....anything....But nowadays if any body tries crap on a plane ... like with a spork ...everyone one board will kill them....in a hostige situation people will just rush the guys....if someone is hell bent on blowing up a plane they are going to come up with a good way of doing it...they wont get caught if they are smart. So why dont they just let us bring our laptops , psp , ipods on to the plane so we dont have to change our lifestyles. Once we do that any terroist wins...they think we are scared.... And in Canada they are now allowing some crazy religion to wear the dirka-dirka knives...Had one of those pulled on me one.... so I ran but still! Was there even a reason why this guy was shook down for playing a PSP? And a water bottle in the wrong hands can prove disasterous? Don't make me laugh. America has to quit panicking and stand up to this kind of silly fear. Why are we afraid of "terrorism" and just WTF is terrorism? I dont even know anymore. I shake my head and sigh at Americans who have some kind of fear of this nonsense and would rather live in fear than go on with thier own lives. The fact that on planes the government (and citizens) are afraid of so called terrorists hijacking a plane is so silly, when the government should have some way of retaking. I swear, each time the US Government fails at something it tries to play it off smoothly, except smoothly equals something silly, laughable and ultimately stupid.

» For all ignorant people here

9/11 was ordered by the USA , if you people knew simple physics you would have knowned that the twin towers if being hit by a plane through the south would have falled south , not to the east and the floors shouldn't have collapsed like they collapsed ( 75 , 22 and then 1 ). The jet fuel theory does not prove anything cause then it still would have fallen south and the floors in the top would have collapsed before the ones in the bottom. This are things that I can't beleive so many americans don't know , I'm just 15 years old and I'm not a genious so why don't the USA people know? Maybe if they din't follow their leader blindly and actually downloaded the videos of the twin towers being hit by the planes ( they're rare cause police were given orders to confiscate nearby cameras cause of "security" but you can find a video on limewire ). Anyways this is simple , the saudis and Osama himself payed the republican party a couple millions to use Osama himself as excuse , why? Cause Osama's family owns Caralyle , a company which benefited from those attacks more than 200 million dollars a day , and probably Osama is in a mansion with his beer schaved and living like a rich guy in some country protected by the USA government , I mean when the 9/11 attack occured 2 days later the USA government payed private planes to get Osama and many saudis out of the USA , and the government uses a dumb excuse : "we don't take hostages". Also it';s a coincidence that the day the attacks ocurred Bush was in an elementary school. And then Bush ra[idly moves the troops to Afghanistan saying they were harboring Osama , and then USA troops leave when they establish their own candidate to power Muhhamed Garcai. After that the USA links Irak with al qaeda and that al qaeda planned the bombings on the towers , then USA invades Irak , a country with no army , and the orders were attack everything inside , result was more than 300,000 Iraki civilians killed , now terrorist groups aregiving weapons to the civilians to defend themselves and the civilians seeing how they , their country and family are slaughtered and abused physically and sexually decide to kill , what USA has done doesn't even compare to what nazis did to the jews , did you know that arab muslims prefer to suicide and return to face their family after being seen naked by people who aren't their wives or family? well in Abu Graihb the USA puts all irakis that are less than 30 miles near a firefight between irakis fighting for their lives and USA soldiers , in those prisons they abuse with them not just physically , they put them in sexual positions and doing stuff their religion prohibits , they feel there honor is disgraced and they suicide in grave depression. And do you know all the young USA soldiers who are tricked that they're are fighting for the good of their country and democracy , then when they arrive in the war they face that they were tricked and have to follow general orders ort put to jail for several years. But is Bush and the white birtish american senators along with ***** cheney and condoleeza rice sacrificing themselves? no , they wake up everyday knowing all the money they make and all the power they have and doing simple work.

» Sarcasm?

I sincerely hope that was the intention of this article. Terrorism isn't new to the world and it's not going away so long as people continue to put a patch on the situation rather than finding a permanent solution. Don't get me wrong. The solution that I speak about involves unearthing the motivation for hostilities and then making an active effort to correct the problems at their most base level rather than simply going in gungho with empty promises fueled by fear and ignorance. Lets start doing things the right way rather than listening to what the media or politicians tell us to believe.

Well I've read the article, and I've read this post ( mostly filled with rants and raves). But it does make you wonder, and thanks to this article, probably gives certain key terrosits ideas now ( good job sparky!). But even in these times I would not, and will never want to be in any other country than here ( whether some terroristic people think we're "brainless people" or not). And he may be trying to prove a point, but he's using his stupid, poor sense of judgement to enforce it. I mean nearly dark( presumably AFTER everyone left the federal building), on a busy street ( lots of people= target for terrorists) with some kind of device in your hand. Yah, the cops won't notice THAT :P!!

That's not brainless if you ask me, that's cops using their wit and doing their job.

And I'm quite sure if you were someone who had a family member die because some coward wanted to prove a point by steering the plane they were in into a building or killing them in the end result as the building fell with them in it, then you could understand why we seem so " brainless".

Also, the firmware updates are not for homeland security:P It's economic not terroristic. They want money not world peace...lol.

by PSP lover - 2006-08-28 15:25
» umm..just so you know

The whole war in Iraq thing, well, you do know that the US can't go to war unless Congress approves it? So even if Bush wanted a war, there is no way he could have brainwashed/manipulated more than 200 congressman and senators into approving a war. And the funding for the war also comes from..guess where, congress. The 9/11 attack must have been carefully constructed far before George W. came into office, and it seems more that Bush inherited the problems of his pappy, Bush Sr.

I feel sorry for the whole Bush family, if they keep getting flamed everywhere, lol.

And the war in Iraq, thats just dumb. When in the hell did the US ever care for peace and tranquility in the Middle East? I mean...Saddam is gone, so y doesn't US retreat? Its all so confusing, lol. Must be the oil.

Anyway, the police who tried to arrest the guy playing the PSP must have felt pretty dumb after they realized it was only Tekken. Or they mighta confiscated it so they could play it themselves, lol.

» Thank you...

I'm glad someone isn't all up in arms bout all the security issues we're having. Truth is that the people who are out to get us, the US, aren't just out to get us. And they don't use the means of traditional warfare. While it's a "sucky" idea that we have to watch the things we carry onto planes or act slightly different as to not attract the wrong attention, or have to go through a security detail or two, truth is it's better than the consequences. And to think that the persons involved in the checks are getting a kick out of it is as arrogant and ignorant a statement as they come. The real travesty is that people don't realize that there are entities out there who don't understand the concept of freedom, and assume it's a god given RIGHT. Let's forget so easily then that our "God" isn't always their "God." Sometimes, Freedom has a cost. And if some simple uncomfortable circumstances allow me to go home and see my family and friends without hope of dying or having horrific events ensue, so beit.

Thanks for understanding this in your writing.

"Of course, the D.C. police are only doing their job to protect and serve, and the apprehended guy knows this. We're living in a time where almost anything - even a seemingly innocent water bottle - placed in the wrong hands can prove disastrous."

When's the last time the D.C. Police arrested sombody carrying a water bottle in the capital? And what were the thoughts that went through their minds before they apprehended him? "Hey, that guy's got a PSP, those things are cool. Wait a minute, don't they have Wireless? OH SHI-- GET DOWN ON THE GROUND!" What in the world made them think a PSP will be any more dangerous to their high-security government network than an actual laptop computer? If I wanted to break into a government network, I'd do it on somthing with some computing power somewhere inconspicuous. 333MHz is nothing compared to a custom computer or two in the back of a van built for power.
