PS3 pre-orders in Germany...Wait! It's a bundle

SCE UK Managing Director Ray Maguire mentioned the other day that there will be a total of 220,000 PS3 units available for their market by launch. There are no reports, however, regarding other territories. Despite that, we're kind of betting that there will be shortage problems as well. Because it seems that the long wait hasn't dampened the feelings of our European friends for the console.

Anyway, lucky you if you live in Germany. Your local Amazon is offering pre-orders of the 60GB version of the console for 599 Euros (US$ 776). Sounds great? Yeah, except that you need to purchase first a Sony PSP with Ridge Racer Platinum to avail of the pre-order. In case you're wondering, the PSP bundle will cost you another 199.95 Euros (US$ 260).

Wondering why? Don't look at us because we don't quite understand this as well. We looked deeper into the Amazon Germany site and this is how they explained the matter (Pardon the transalation):

If you should not have ordered PSP up to the initial delivery of the PS3, no PS3-Konsole can be unfortunately reserved to you. The supply of the PlayStation 3-Konsole is possible only if you ordered both the PSP inclusive Ridge Racer Platinum and the PlayStation 3-Konsole.

Man, it seems even Amazon is trying to bring Sony down by putting this ridiculous pre-order system for the PS3. They really wants the Sony fans, especially the die-hard fans to hate Sony. Things are looking more and more grim for Sony.

Nintendo, on the other hand, is gaining more and more momentum. This is bad, because Nintendo likes to make cheap products and sell them for high prices, so they will automatically make profits on day one. At least, with Sony and Microsoft, they are really willing to deliver hi-end experiences even if they lose money on it for a year or more. Nintendo is a sleazy and very greedy company that thinks about making the cheapest products available so that they can rip off the sheep.

You Forget something guys..

Thats just the new pre-order System, for the guys, that wants to buy a PS3 in the Last Minute. Of course we Germans had a normal Pre Order time, just like the rest of the World. But thats over now, and you have to buy a PSP + PS3 for now. So if you pre orderd it last Year, you didn't need to buy the PSP, and just the PS3. Cuz they can't Change the Contract for the Pre orders that were Already made.

So.. and now sry for my Bad English, but i think it is a bad as your german xD

People always say that "Nintendo is smart, they are making a profit from day 1" whereas "Sony is stupid for making a console and selling it as a loss".

In the previous generation, Sony had the exact same business model, sell the PS2 at a loss at the beginning, and look what happened, they came out on top of the last generation (and still going strong with titles like Okami, Bully, FFXII, God of War 2 being released in recent months or will be released soon).

Not saying that I'm certain of who will come out on top of this generation, but I'm sick of everyone hating on Sony and that Nintendo can do no wrong.

Nintendo sells for profit, sure, but who are they making a profit off of? Us, the consumer, who are getting a not-so-good-deal since the console is actually cheaper to make.

At least Sony and M$ are willing to take a hit for the consumer to deliver us a quality console at a good price.

Agree with above poster... Nitnendo is sleazy and very greedy, and were somehow capable of brainwashing the world into thinking that they were the only capable company of making anything "fun".

It's better to order your PSP from another Shop

eg.

http://www.alcom.ch/games.php?system=S3&waszeig=coming

890 CHF = 720 $

The 60GB version

I'm living in switzerland. But the ps3 simply to expensively for me, a apprentice in the first year.

They don't do it for the customers, they're just as in it for the profit as Nintendo is, they just follow a different model.

Nintendo is a business company first and foremost just like Sony and MS. And they're in business first to a)make the comsumer happy? or b) make money?

Tell me how long a company can sell a product for a loss and see how long they'll be in business? If Sony or MS were able to sell the PS3 or 360 for a profit as Nintendo is doing with the Wii, I'm sure they'd do it but alas they can't. So they have to sell them at a loss. You can already see that as consumer are not willing to spend $600 plus for a console.
