PS3 flying high in EA's Q1 2008 results |

Electronic Arts has posted its quarterly financial report and a lot of it was the kind of stuff we're used to seeing from the giant. What got our attention is how the Sony PlayStation 3 is now by far its biggest revenue machine with a huge leap over last year's results.In Q1 of 2007, the PS3 posted a lowly US$ 13 million in net revenues for EA. Sony's console grew 969 percent this year and now dominates EA's charts with US$ 139 million in net revenues. The PC comes second with US$ 89 million.
The PS3's chief rival, the Xbox 360 posted US$ 81 million, which is still a 72 percent rise over last year's figures. The PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo Wii rounded up the console category. Handhelds were also doing pretty well for EA. The Sony PSP revenues amounted to US$ 57 million while the DS revenues were at US$ 21 million.
Despite the Nintendo platforms not grinding as many dollars as other platforms, EA says it remains committed to them and has announced 40 titles for the Wii and the DS.
Other highlights include what EA says are good critical reactions for their recent releases. Without a doubt, though, the Spore Creature Creator which launched recently was one of Q1's biggest hits.

unlike most websites out there dedicated to one console over the other, this report is nuetral and coming from a third party with interest in all the consoles for their profit......
Seems like PS3 has been kicking major behinds in the Game selling and Revenue department.... too bad the same can't be said bout the X3fixME or Wii
It's because everyone bought a 360 a long time ago and now they are buying ps3s at least thats what I did. there's still hardly any games for it though at least it plays blue ray discs
what games for the ps3 made up most of that revenue? im just curious as to what games ea has brought out for the ps3(major ones i mean).
EA mainly develops sports games mainly, and the fact that they have most of the bigger sports licensed to where they're the only ones that can use teams and names, they have monopolized that area of gaming. Too bad almost all their games are *****ty.
Anyways. Need for Speed, Madden, NCAA Football, NBA Live, and NHL are their bread and butter games. Games that they push out a new release every year and everyone still buys them even though they're the same game.
If you're not in the know. All these *****ty EA sports games sell far more than your average game. They're multiconsole, so I'm only assuming they mean it as the PS3 is doing good, but the 360 may have still sold more.
and this is after you didn't give us Spore and 30 fps with Madden! Shame on you EA.
360 sold less because of piracy ... that's why it's so popular.
Why do you people like you keep saying there are no games for it? Shoot, then what have I been playing on my PS3 then?
the PS3 doesn't have as many quality games as the 360 and PS3 users have to resort to the crappy games EA makes. Who knows
360 has a whopping 3 and half games Halo Gears oops two games PS3
because i have both consoles and i love my ps3 (about a thousand times more then my 360, but there are way more way better games for 360. MGS4 owns them all and so does motorstorm (in my opinion) but those are two.

Well guys, we finally have a rival. No, don't worry, I'm not a fan boy, so don't start pulling your keyboard closer cause I'm not asking for a flame war, sony fans. I'm just posting this to say RIGHT ON.
I know that I am true to my console, the 360. But I also know that you are true to your console, the PS3. I'm stoked to see this battle take place over the next couple of years. Good luck to you sony fans, for real. I hope it's a close one. That would be awesome. Only time will tell!

-time crisis 4 (hey i love it especially the fps mode it was short tho)

- mario galaxy (i hated this one but people love it *cough* halo 3*cough*)

just because you jumped on the wagon and bought a 360 right away doesnt give you the right to bash other consoles
ps3 is the best system its has an EQUAL amount of games (not to mention the best ones are multiplat) free online and its a flcuking pc you can even change the hard drive with any laptop hard drive, not to mention every single one comes with a hard drive and blue ray (which can hold something like 50gb)
wii is the next best + web browser, innovative controls, free online and its cheap (although no rechargable batteries and no hi-def)
360+ is ***** ....... less AAA titles than wii or 360 (although comparible ) no web browser (WHY! wtf seriously your microsoft put IE in there it wouldnt cost you anything you lazy bastards) high failure rate , no wifi , no rechargeable batteries, online must be purchased (up to 50$ a year)
dvd9 holds like 10 gb (if i remeber correctly) and if you wanna upgrade the hardrive you have to purchase a specific xbox drive from microsoft (which is a NORMAL sata harddrive only double the price)
so really for once and for all tell me how 360 is the best console THE ONLY WAY i would consider buying one would be if they dropped the price by another 200$ as it is now .... you got ripped off (should've saved some money and bought a ps3)

Why do you all care so much about who wins? I own a 360, high end pc(dual nvidia gx2 9800) and will be getting a ps3 for blueray soon and i'm sure a few other games also. It's obvious which console is best by the one that has the least amount of supporters because they are the ones spending their free time gaming instead of posting on forums. As for which system I enjoy the most it would be my high end pc without a doubt. I must admit i'm a huge fan of the 360 arcade games because i'm a father and dont' have as much free time to game as I would like. Anyways unless you have stock in sony, m$, nintendo, etc why do you care so much which one wins? Your only providing free advertising for the CEO's of those companies so that they can chill on their yacht and laugh at you all sweating away at the pc getting all crazy about which one is better.
Don't do the work for free for the CEO's. Either buy some stock in the company you like or shut up.
