Continuous Play - Image 1In a move that will surely give gamers in the U.K. more peace of mind when it comes to their Sony video game consoles being damaged due to accidents, Sony has come up with "Continuous Play", an extended warranty service for the PS2, PS3 and PSP.

Continuous Play is, according to the official website's FAQ, a plan to protect gamers should their Sony gaming consoles develop a fault after the warranty expires or if it's damaged by accident. For a few pounds a month, gamers that have signed up for the Continuous Play service can get their problematic or damaged consoles replaced, usually within two working days.

The plan stays in place even after you've already gotten your replacement, so you can get another replacement for as many times as needed. Provided you keep paying the monthly fees, of course. The monthly cost for protecting a PS2 or a PSP is set at UK£ 2.49. If you have a PS3, you can also get it covered for UK£ 4.99 a month.

The Continuous Play service is for the U.K. only, but hopefully it will also become available to gamers outside the U.K. If you want to learn more about it, feel free to click on the "Read" link below.

I think a lot of X360 users would take up this offer if it were available to them, as an insurance against getting RRODed.

» this sounds good an' all

but im guessing this dosnt cover loss or theft..

which are probebly the most common incidents, given its a handheld .. (in regards to the PSP extended warrenty.. obviously)

» Rip Off

Rubbish offer, XBOX 360's have warrantee at 50-60 pounds for 2 years!

PS3's is 60 pounds for 1 year.

» 360

I think this is more fitting for the 360 since it breaks eaisly.

» Nice

Nice man, this is awesome. Protecting your PlayStation 3 for a couple of bucks a month. I'm so in when this comes to North America! The reason MicroSoft would never make a warranty like this is because they'd probably go bankrupt replacing so many broken XBOX 360s

Good move by Sony though, I guess I won't have to worry about my PlayStation 3 when this comes to North America. 2 working days is also great.

» well this is a turn up

this is a damn good idea and its reasonably priced too. however companies are known for not accepting returns based on various arguments so i suspect they wont replace psp's with homebrew enabled for example. still its a good thing.

» don't be so sure

Sony products break too, they just take longer. 3 of my friends with PS2s had disc read errors after 2-3 years and there was no option to repair them, they had to be replaced. Not a huge deal with a $150 product, but if it was something you paid $600 for I'd be really pissed. Everyone says PS3s are so reliable, but it's only been out for 7 months. My 360 is 15 months old with no problems, so technically it's more reliable so far, and I use the crap out of that thing.

» Make money on your paypal

hy every body you get paid to click on ads and visit websites. The process is easy! You simply click a link and view a website for 30 seconds to earn money. You can earn even more by referring friends. You'll get paid $0.01 for each website you personally view and $0.01 for each website your referrals view. Payment requests can be made every day and are processed through PayPal. The minimum payout is $10.00.

Earnings Example

You click 10 ads per day = $0.10!

10 referrals click 10 ads per day = $1.00!

Your weekly earnings = $7.70!

Your monthly earnings = $30.80!

The above example is based only on 10 referrals and 10 daily clicks. Some days you will have more clicks available, some days you will have less. What if you had more referrals? What if there were more ads available?

» But this is the ps3 were talking about

the ps3's laser are so well protected that this isn't a problem. There was a major improvement on the new ps2 because mine is in terrible shape and plays great. The xbox 1 also had some bad lasers too depending on what model the dvd drive was.

» 360

The 360 does have extended warrentee btw, so all you fanboys shut it. I have all 3, my 360 hasn't broke since i bought it (Jan 2006), my Wii hasn't broke (Dec 2006) and my PS3 hasn't broke (March 2007).

by haha - 2007-06-21 08:32
» still

the xbox 360 STILL has a bad rep of breaking down. just because yours is fine, does that make all the other thousands of peoples xbox 360 ok?

by xman - 2007-06-21 09:07
» this is good

because the ps3 needs it with the high break down rate! if you all get a 360 you wont even need a warenty!!

by hartleyshc - 2007-06-21 09:10
» or...

or they could simply build a better product.

The only consoles I've ever had "break" on me was a first run ps1 and a first run ps2. *over heated, and laser pot adjustment.*

Where as my atari 2600 is closely approaching 30 years old, and is just as functional as the day I bought it.

hmmm

I have yet to see an "internet news" about PS3's breaking down or PS3's overheating or showing 3 re.... oh wait, the PS3 doesn't have any red lights... never mind :)

» Not from Sony, but

Might not be from Sony, but you can get extended warranties from reputable companies in the U.S.

I insured my digital camera, camcorder, and my psp for like US$12 for my European Vacation month. Thankfully, I didn't have to use it, so who knows whether or not it would have paid off, but I have heard good stories if you research and find a reputable company.

» Do you find this fun.....

..... or do really believe all of the crap that you say?

by Somedude - 2007-06-21 19:36
» wish it were available here, but

It would have been a lot better if it covered theft. I would have got it instead of having to buy another psp now because of theft. I guess you can't really have a warranty to cover theft cause then people could just go around saying their system or handheld was stolen.

by Cheap PSP - 2007-06-21 19:58
» Cheap new PSP

Whats stopping you breaking your PSP then getting the insurance, claiming to get a new one and then canceling the insurance which it says can be done in 14 days.

by bobs - 2007-06-21 23:02
» unbelievable!!

why cant they just make the damn things so they dont break - i went through 3 of the old bulky ps2's,.... funny how my snes still works fine!

by Get a life PS3 owners - 2007-06-21 23:45
» Read above.

Everybody knows that Xbox 360 is much better than the PS3 when it comes to games...Sony are a bunch of imitators....ANd losers... I only have the PSP and I only bought it because I already had tons of homebrew stuff to play with...

» mister common sense will smack ur bottom

for being a donkey

by na2ru1 - 2007-06-22 04:35
» I already have extended cover

When i brought PS3, i was offered an extra 2 yr cover and replacement service on top of standard 1 yr guarantee due 2 high failure rate of xbobs.

(this is 3rd party i think, not from Sony)

1+2yr £50 from GAME(UK)

by Sembazuru - 2007-06-22 04:39
» Good question

This may be a loop-hole. Probably won't be long until it is closed, or some how declared insurance fraud.
