Prince of Persia movie well on its way to 2008 |

Now we all know that Jerry Bruckheimer, renowned producer and cinema visionary, had the Prince of Persia franchise under his wing for some time now. Under the watching eyes of Disney, the movie is being primed for a blockbuster release this coming 2008 in summer. Probably a first of three movies to come, "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" will take us into a more immersive world behind the story of the beginning of the Sands of Time trilogy.
According to a couple of sites, including BadTaste.it, the movie may just be looking to be a great production after all, despite rumors of just maturing in the pre-production stages. The following images below may or may not reflect in the final movie (although we have confirmed that they are concept art straight from Walt Disney Studios), but the works show just how much intricate detail they plan to put into the costumes and settings.
But first things first: who's going to play the Prince? Well that has been debated a
lot. Apparently, even after they searched for a relatively unknown
Persian actor to play the part, they settled with Aussie TV actor
Charlie Clausen (of "Mcleod's Daughters" and "Blue Heels" fame). We're
not sure if he could pull some serious moves on the temple pillars, but
as long as Bruckheimer calls the shots, there's a big chance he'd have
to take some trapeze lessons. If you're hoping that the movie will stay faithful to the story, understand first that it wasn't us who burst your bubble here. Sad to say, after much digging around for more news on this rumor, we found a lot of claims, and Jerry Bruckheimer says that the game story is a no-go.
This is what we could dig up about the plans for the story: there have been much talk in the past that the script was non-existent at the time they considered making the movie. Unfortunately, with the team up of both Jordan Mechner (the original creator of the very first Prince of Persia) and Jeff Nachmanoff (known for his work "Dawn of the Day After"), the story will not be extracted from the game (oh no not again) but will emphasize on creating a starting point where new stories can be told.

This movie is going to bomb, just like all of the other video game movies based on games with no plot. Yes, Sands of Time had some semblance of a story. No, it wasn't worthy of making a movie out of. No, Jerry Bruckheimer isn't capable of squeezing blood from a stone, though I'm sure he'll try.
