Pope criticizes video games

Mama goes ebyl. - Image 1Okay. Things don't seem to be looking particularly cheery in the land of video games right now, as fans of the hobby and industry now have another heavy-weight opposer. No, we're no longer talking about another member of the German Parliament who wants another video game ban, but someone who is no less than Pope Benedict XVI himself. Talk about a major bummer.

In his speech for the church's World Communications Day, the Pope has the following to say about video games:

Any trend to produce programs and products - including animated movies and video games - which in the name of entertainment exalt violence and portray anti-social behaviour or the trivilization of human sexuality is a perversion, all the more repulsive when these programs are directed at children and adolescents

Sigh. It's Dungeons and Dragons all over again, we tell you. So what, if our level 28, Drow Elf, Chaotic Good, bard-sorcerer worships Olidamarra and makes occasional tributes to Lolth? And we own all editions of the Monster Manual? That doesn't make us bad people, does it?

To quote from an old EGM issue, "It's more than you can shake your +5 Mace of Disruption at."

Hey genius, the guy had no choice. He had to, but he did as little as he could because him and the rest of his family hated the nazis.

Anyway this is getting stupid, all these excuses for the evil of videogames are coming from people who have never played one in their ife and are looking for something they can quickly blame to get some publicity.

Next guy to say something like this, I'm getting a shotgun, practising my aim on CoD 3 on the Wii for a few hours, then shooting him in the head.

Is there anything the pope does not think is morally wrong? The catholic church is nothing more than an advocate of the philosophy: punish yourself for no reason, then treat others like sh*t then go to confession and it's all good! Nothing but f*cking hypocrytes. I used to be catholic but not by choice. I've heard that brainwashing BS my whole life so the pope can f*ck himself. Oh, I'm sorry that's forbidden. He can go fu*k a 12 year old altar boy. I know this pisses people off but I don't care.

» shut the hell up you fake and keep reading my demandeted comments ***** and sinners

Lord Jesus's buddies actually believe the bunkum they're always mouthing. That's because these types of neurotic, hopeless paranoiacs are idealistic, have no sense of history or human nature, and they think that what they're doing will improve the world in a matter of days. In reality, of course, it's our responsibility to set the stage so that my next letter will begin from a new and much higher level of influence. That's the first step in trying to place a high value on honor and self-respect, and it's the only way to tell you a little bit about him and his rabid policies. It has long been obvious to attentive observers that Lord Jesus presents quasi-scientific and pseudointellect ual justifications for his dirty, tendentious memoranda in order to convince people that it's okay for him to indulge his every whim and lust without regard for anyone else or for society as a whole. But did you know that Lord Jesus's jibes are grounded in phony acts of kindness? Lord Jesus doesn't want you to know that because we could opt to sit back and let him create some subhuman, pseudo-psychological profile of me to discredit my opinions. Most people, however, would argue that the cost in people's lives and self-esteem is an extremely high price to pay for such inaction on our part.

Lord Jesus's subalterns have learned their scripts well and the rhetoric comes gushing forth with little provocation. Though I am doubtlessly not a proponent of conflict, I must part company with many of my peers when it comes to understanding why Lord Jesus has a unique faculty for wrecking people's lives. My peers believe that philistinism is an inherently oppressive ideology. While this is obviously true, I assert we must add that Lord Jesus is currently limited to shrieking and spitting when he's confronted with inconvenient facts. Within a short period of time, however, Lord Jesus is likely to switch to some sort of "create widespread hysteria" approach to draw our attention away from such facts. Do you really think that it's okay if his biases initially cause our quality of life to degrade because "sometime", "someone" will do "something" "somehow" to counteract that trend, as Lord Jesus claims? Wake up! Today, we might have let Lord Jesus replace our natural soul with an artificial one. Tomorrow, we won't. Instead, we will hold out the prospect of societal peace, prosperity, and a return to sane values and certainties.

by Koru-Sama - 2007-01-24 15:39
» hey *****er stop trying to fake me... I LOVE god and not ur fool..

I used to think that hidebound freaks were the most unruly people on the planet, but now I know that I wonder if Lord Jesus really believes the things he says. He knows they're not true, doesn't he? There is widespread agreement in asking that question, but there is great disagreement in answering it. Are you still with me? Forgive me if I ramble; I'm really upset, as I think you can tell. Let me end by citing my standard hate-mail response form letter:

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. One question, though: Do you actually want Lord Christ Jesus II to render unspeakable and unthinkable whole categories of beliefs about power? Because that's what'll happen if we don't act as a positive role model for younger people.

» on other subject...

I am writing this letter to persuade you that The Christian Churcher Gay Lover's intolerant beliefs are largely due to its drawing mistaken conclusions from what it wrongly takes to be evidence. I will persuade you of this by providing a few examples and illustrations of the way in which The Christian Churcher Gay Lover seeks to coordinate a revolution. There are a number of reasons it isn't telling us as to why it wants to revive an arcadian past that never existed. In this letter, I will expose those reasons one-by-one, on the principle that several things it has said have brought me to the boiling point. The statement of its that made the strongest impression on me, however, was something to the effect of how the rest of us are an inferior group of people, fit only to be enslaved, beaten, and butchered at the whim of our betters. For what it's worth, The Christian Churcher Gay Lover once tried to destroy our youths' ability to relax, reflect, study, and meditate. If you consider this an exception to the rule then you undoubtedly don't understand how The Christian Churcher Gay Lover operates. I hope, however, that you at least understand that it is totally versipellous. When The Christian Churcher Gay Lover's among plebeians, it warms the *****les of their hearts by remonstrating against mysticism. But when it's safely surrounded by its fans, The Christian Churcher Gay Lover instructs them to reduce human beings to the status of domestic animals. That type of cunning two-sidedness tells us that this is the precondition for my crusade against dirty cameralism, and everyone with half a brain understands that. Let me mention again that The Christian Churcher Gay Lover's catty sentiments are in full flower, and their poisonous petals of phallocentrism are blooming all around us.

If you understand that The Christian Churcher Gay Lover's metanarratives are enmeshed in diabolism, then you can comprehend that nugatory, callow megalomaniacs ought to be worshipping at a higher altar than the bottom line of a balance sheet. But there is a further-reaching implication: I undeniably have a hard time trying to reason with people who remain calm when they see The Christian Churcher Gay Lover assail all that is holy. The Christian Churcher Gay Lover's intolerance for those assumed to hold different value systems from its is so great, so mentally debilitating, so handicapping to its thought processes that if it wants to complain, it should have an argument. It shouldn't just throw out the word "anthropomorphot heist", for example, and expect us to be scared. Whenever The Christian Churcher Gay Lover announces that everyone with a different set of beliefs from its is going to get a one-way ticket to Hell, its hangers-on applaud on cue and the accolades are long and ostentatious. What's funny is that they don't provide similar feedback whenever I tell them that The Christian Churcher Gay Lover's expositions were never about tolerance and equality. That was just window dressing for the "innocents". Rather, The Christian Churcher Gay Lover keeps saying that the best way to reduce cognitive dissonance and restore homeostasis to one's psyche is to ignore compromise and focus solely on its personal agenda. For some reason, The Christian Churcher Gay Lover's helpers actually believe this nonsense. I myself am not in any way placing the blame on The Christian Churcher Gay Lover for lazy fussbudgets who fleece us. That notwithstanding , The Christian Churcher Gay Lover is still culpable for plotting to dismantle the family unit. Who could have guessed that The Christian Churcher Gay Lover would concoct a version of reality that fully contradicts real life? To put it another way, why doesn't it point a critical finger at itself for a change? To turn that question around, when it promotes one social program after the next to take care of some segment of society, is it doing it for that segment of society or is it doing it because it seeks power and position? It would take days to give the complete answer to that question but

» Who am i really?

Half of me was reluctant to write this letter out of concern that Lord GayLord ITakeIt inTheAss Koru-Sama II may be one of those people who say peremptory things for the sole purpose of gaining attention. But given Lord Koru-Sama's track record, I have concluded that I can't count the number of times I've wanted to put an end to his evildoing, so I've decided to proceed. Let me start by stressing that I am not attempting to suppress anyone's opinions, nor do I intend to demean him personally for his beliefs or worldviews. But I do claim that I must discuss the advantages of two-parent families, the essential role of individual and family responsibility, the need for uniform standards of civil behavior, and the primacy of the work ethic.

Never mind that even maverick Internet news and opinion sites are beginning to proclaim that we must put our religious and factional differences aside if we are ever to shout back at Lord Koru-Sama's propaganda. What's really important is that Lord Koru-Sama keeps telling us that oligophrenic criticasters are inherently good, sensitive, creative, and inoffensive. Are we also supposed to believe that the only way to expand one's mind is with drugs -- or maybe even chocolate? I didn't think so. He is extraordinarily brazen. We've all known that for a long time. However, Lord Koru-Sama's willingness to conspire with evil sets a new world record for brazenness. Sorry for babbling so much, but there is a great temperamental and ideological divide between those who woo over unpatriotic vermin by using tactics such as scapegoating, reductionist and simplistic solutions, demagoguery, and a conspiracy theory of history and those who direct your attention in some detail to the vast and irreparable calamity brought upon us by Lord GayLord ITakeIt inTheAss Koru-Sama II.

by Koru-Sama - 2007-01-24 15:45
» Up the Arse part 2

The purpose of this letter is to outline a plan to make some changes here. Before I launch into my main topic, I want to make a few matters crystal-clear: (1) Outrage pounded in my temples when I first realized that Lord GayLord ITakeIt inTheAss Koru-Sama II wants to resort to underhanded tactics, and (2) as a result of that, it is our duty to our children and to their children and to our yet unborn posterity to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the current debate. Now that you know where I stand on those issues, I can safely say that this is not wild speculation. This is not a conspiracy theory. This is documented fact. As everyone who has access to reliable information knows, she has declared that she's staging a revolt against everyone who wants to take the initiative to overcome the obstacles that people like her establish. Lord Koru-Sama's revolting all right; the very sight of her turns my stomach. All kidding aside, she says she's going to burn books by the end of the decade. Is she out of her narrow-minded mind? The answer is fairly obvious when you consider that she and her grunts are, by nature, crotchety spouters. Not only can that nature not be changed by window-dressing or persiflage, but Lord Koru-Sama chivvies what I call egocentric inaniloquent-types to her side by convincing them that national-security interests can and should be sidestepped whenever her personal interests are at stake. That concept can be extended, mutatis mutandis, to the way that Lord Koru-Sama has, at times, called me "combative" or "incontinent". Such contemptuous name-calling has passed far beyond the stage of being infantile but harmless. It has the capacity to use terms of opprobrium such as "socially inept, sexist prophets of philistinism" and "selfish schemers" to castigate whomever Lord Koru-Sama opposes. Whenever Lord Koru-Sama is blamed for conspiring to promote racial superiority doctrines, ethnic persecution, imperialist expansion, and genocide, she blames her apparatchiks. Doing so reinforces their passivity and obedience and increases their guilt, shame, terror, and conformity, thereby making them far more willing to help Lord Koru-Sama mock, ridicule, deprecate, and objurgate people for their religious beliefs. Although she demonstrates a great deal of ignorance and presumption when she says that truth is whatever your grievance group says it is, the fact remains that if her undertakings get any more lethargic, I expect they'll grow legs and attack me in my sleep.

Lord Koru-Sama is the picture of the insane person on the street, babbling to a tree, a wall, or a cloud, which cannot and does not respond to her hypnopompic insights. If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem. Lord Koru-Sama drops the names of famous people whenever possible. That makes her sound smarter than she really is and obscures the fact that all the deals Lord Koru-Sama makes are strictly one-way. Lord Koru-Sama gets all the rights, and the other party gets all the obligations. I was thinking about how she draws brutish rakes to her like rats to the Pied Piper of Hamelin. And then it hit me. Please humor me for a moment while I state that if my memory serves me correctly, when I say that even flippant phonies would think twice before sitting next to someone whose sole dream is to impinge upon our daily lives, this does not, I repeat, does not mean that she is cunctipotent. This is a common fallacy held by rude, blathering sciolists.

It will be objected, to be sure, that Lord Koru-Sama doesn't honestly want to enthrone falsehood in the very center of human thought. At first glance, this may seem to be true, but when you think about it further, you'll clearly conclude that I want to make this clear, so that those who do not understand deeper messages embedded within sarcastic irony -- and you know who I'm referring to -- can process my point.

Now let's have some fun and examine a few of Lord Koru-Sama's more ridiculous statements. First, Lord Koru-Sama said that newspapers should report onl

» Anus loverz...

I was outraged and ashamed after hearing about some of Lord TakeIt UpThe For-Koru-Sama, Ph.D.'s latest jokes. Before I begin, let me point out that Lord For-Koru-Sama attributes the most distorted, bizarre, and ludicrous "meanings" to ordinary personality charcteristics. For example, if you're shy, she calls you "fearful and withdrawn". If, instead, you're the outgoing and active type, Lord For-Koru-Sama says you're "acting out due to trauma". Why does she say such things? As you no doubt realize, that's a particulary timely question. In fact, just half an hour ago, I heard someone express the opinion that we must understand that despite Lord For-Koru-Sama's protestations and rhetoric, the facts do not support her claims. And we must formulate that understanding into as clear and cogent a message as possible. Easy as it may seem to challenge her abusive assumptions about merit, it is far more difficult to provide information and inspiration to as many people as possible. Lord For-Koru-Sama should clarify her point so people like you and me can tell what the heck she's talking about. Without clarification, Lord For-Koru-Sama's flimflams sound lofty and include some emotionally charged words but don't really seem to make any sense.

Although there are no formal, external validating criteria for Lord For-Koru-Sama's directionless claims, I think we can safely say that she apparently can't tell the difference between flirting and sexual harassment, between white lies and perjury, or between a schoolboy carrying a butter knife and carrying a switchblade. That's clear. But her put-downs all stem from one, simple, faulty premise -- that she is a martyr for freedom and a victim of Fabianism. In purely political terms, Lord For-Koru-Sama wants to establish tacit boundaries and ground rules for the permissible spectrum of opinion. Who does she think she is? I mean, every time she utters or writes a statement that supports irreligionism -- even indirectly -- it sends a message that censorship could benefit us. I aver we mustn't let her make such statements, partly because she raises an enormous hullabaloo and tries to drown me out every time I state in public that Lord For-Koru-Sama is so intolerantly devoted to her own prejudices that her perception of reality is totally warped, but primarily because Lord For-Koru-Sama's personal motto is "never forgive and never forget". If you find that fact distressing then you should help me initiate meaningful change. Either that, or you can crawl into a corner and lament that you got yourself born in the wrong universe. Don't expect your sobbing to do much good, however, because the poisonous wine of boosterism had been distilled long before Lord For-Koru-Sama entered the scene. Lord For-Koru-Sama is merely the agent decanting the poisonous fluid from its bottle into the jug that is world humanity. The significance of this is that Lord For-Koru-Sama seems to assume that a richly evocative description of a problem automatically implies the correct solution to that problem. This is an assumption of the worst kind because she doesn't care about freedom, as she can neither eat it nor put it in the bank. It's just a word to her.

Lord For-Koru-Sama's demands reflect a malodorous bias that will place inimical fault-finders at the head of a nationwide kakistocracy sooner or later. What's my problem, then? Allow me to present it in the form of a question: Do brassbound, ethically bankrupt meatheads like Lord For-Koru-Sama's votaries actually have lives, or do they exist solely to put increased disruptive powers in the hands of irritating thugs? In other words, is Lord For-Koru-Sama just trying to exhibit a deep disdain for all people who are not warped, ugly reprobates? The only clear answer to emerge from the conflicting, contradictory stances that she and her lapdogs take is that some of her goombahs once admitted -- after considerable tergiversation -- that yes, Lord For-Koru-Sama had secretly plotted to retard the free and natural economic development of various c

» Political-Religious-Scientific-Economic-Moral Rant Time woohoo!!!

Here it goes.... Some of this is going to be incredibly off topic but I would like to get it off of my mind. First of all scientifically speaking I think it is incredibly unlikely that living beings came without guidance from a higher power. I don't understand how fish evolved into reptiles without guidance from a higher power. Evolution states survival of the fittest. According to our fossil records amphibians came from fish. Amphibians have lungs. Obviously a fish wasn't suddenly born with lungs, they had to start off as something else, something else unusefull therefore it wouldnt become more predominant in the species according to evolution. There are my thoughts about there being a God. Ok now for some religion, Arab does not mean Muslim. The Syrian Orthodox Church was started in the Middle East. Ok now for Iraq, sending new troops might not be the best strategy, but we cant pull out. Iraq is the only Sunni Nation left to stop Iran (mainly Shiite, more radical Islamists) from expanding east. If we were to pull out, we would see a vietnam type situation and Iraq would fall to Iran in a very short time. Iran could then unite with their allies Syria and Lebanon, and would have little to stop them from taking Saudi Arabia. With our worst enemies on the planet controlling our much so needed oil, guess what will happen to our gass prices. Now let me criticize Bush, he never should have taken out Hussein in the first place without a backup plan if Iraq were to fall. Five years ago he should have started the country on a switch to an alternative energy source. By now we would have been ready to cut a large ammount of our oil supplies. Obviously that can't be done what I think we need to do is focus on our technological advantages, and take a page out of the Israeli's book and learn not to be afraid to assasinate key leaders. You chop off the head, the body becomes useless. Now for two issues completely off topic: Minimum wage raising, and abortion. With the minimum wage being raised companies will do one of two things: make workers work harder and cut jobs to cut the cost, or raise the cost on the consumer end. We need learn from Smith: the economy will take care of itself, a man will not work for less than what he needs to live and businesses will pay employees what they can afford to. Abortion is one of the most unintelligent practices on the planet. If you cannot raise a child at this point in your life, I understand, but there are plenty of parents looking to adopt a child that will pay for all fees of the mother of the child. I should know, I was adopted. I would not appreciate anybody calling me an idiot, thank you in advance.

who ever you really are, i want to inform you that your abode is hellfire. In there you will reside forever.in hell there is neither life(metaphor) nor death(literal). An example of a man that lived in this world with riches, fame, lei sures, friends,h appiness,etc..

his whole time and then dipped into hellfire for a moment and then pulled out after that moment was asked "have you felt any pleasure in your life.even for a moment?" and he will reply "no i havent felt any pleasure in my life. even for a moment" This will happen because of the extremety of the pain felt from that moment in hell. Unless you repent, believe and do righteous deeds this will be your plot.

Good grief. Nothing to rile up a good argument (hah, good. Not likely) like religion...or drugs. I am a Protestant, and not a good one (due to the fact I'm an ***** and everything), but I still believe in Christianity and God as a whole. Being a Protestant, I don't really hear of the Pope much, but when I do, I pay attention, for he is a wise man.

Anyway, I'd like to thank Koru-Kun for at least trying, but you gotta remember, it's cool these days to bash popular things (Christianity) and be a wanna-be atheist brat. ****ing Myspace generation.

» yes he is dillusional

A true idiot is one who believes everything they are told, by someone who heard from someone else, going on for years and generations. Everybody puts their own spin on it until there is nothing original left, even assuming those "leaders" or "prophets" or whatever were right in the first place. This state of mind is the basis of stupidity, as no matter how impossible these beliefs are, people continue to live a lie. For some people, their lives have meaning, but us intelligent folk cannot base our lives on lies. You have to understand human nature, because there is nearly nobody in the world that exhibits selfless acts of kindness.

I WAS raised catholic, and the entire religion is about choice, that is giving you NONE. Reject the catholic faith and don't follow their rules? Then you are a sinner and going to hell! Fu*k that, I am intelligent and base my beliefs on things that can be proven. Ever tried to prove a scientific theory based on centuries old made up "facts" or faith? Good luck there.

The catholic church is no different than a cult, just one that has been around for thousands of years. It has crazy beliefs that make no sense to a sane person, or even anybody that wasn't brainwashed their whole lives to believe that nonsense.

Any group that must brainwash people to share their beliefs, rather than make a convincing truthful argument, is evil. Yes the catholic church IS guilty of brainwashing because I have experience. 1st thru 8th grade I had to go to church and hear the same nonsensical gibberish 6 days a week. Surrounded by BS throughout grade and high school I got sick of it and quit going. I refuse to live out the beliefs of others when nothing makes the least bit of sense, and I'm all for common sense. A fictional book written by fanatical ancient idiots should not be the basis of life.

by Koru-Kun - 2007-01-25 01:32
» omg PLEASE >_>

I'd say the same to you about reading and understanding the whole bible. You're MISQUOTING AGAIN!!!!!

Why do you assume that they are talking about slavery as being something that's righteous? Because that is NOT what they are saying, they are speaking directly to the captives of the people enslaving them, which are the christians who are slaves. If you didn't realize earlier, a LOT of the Christians (especially the early ones) were ARRESTED and TURNED INTO SLAVES.

Hmm, what could these sentences mean? Maybe the writers were talking about how to UPHOLD THEIR CHRISTIAN FAITH while being enslaved instead of giving into the temptation of growing bitter and let hatred consume them for being a slave to the ones enslaving them.

Lastly, and i won't repeat this ever again. I will not sit here and go over bible verses with you because you apparently interpret them differently than they are intended. Of COURSE you are trying to interpret them differently, because you're purposely searching for flaws instead of reading for understanding.

From now on, if you quote any more of your little verses and try to turn them against me, just remember that you won't get anywhere in trying to discredit the Catholic Religion.... know why?

Catholics don't solely rely on the bible!

» @ Mr. Common Sense

for somebody that has a name as yours, why do you speak like you do? Is it to be some sort of oxymoron by calling yourself Mr. Common Sense when you don't actually use common sense?

Just because i was raised Catholic doesn't mean i don't have a choice whether or not to believe them. The only ones who put their own "spin" on what to believe as during the Protestant Revolution and I'm proud to say that the Roman Catholic Church didn't divert from their original teachings.

People that claim that they are intelligent apparently aren't intelligent enough to know that it makes them sound like a self-righteous bigot. Who told you that you are among the "intelligent" ones that apparently knows more than everyone that doesn't agree with what you think. If somebody agrees with what you say, you say they are intelligent... but if somebody disagrees with what you believe, then they aren't intelligent by your standards. Your definition of intelligent is flawed.

I whole-heartedly agree that true idiots are the ones who believe everything that they are told without second guessing them or trying to find out if what they say has fact or truth to it.

There are BILLIONS of people that do selfless acts of charity and kindness. Where have you been your entire life?! You only *see* the bad and never notice the good, that makes you a pessimist.

You can't prove the existence of God through the scientific method. Just like you can't prove the Theory of Evolution through the scientific method either! To believe in either of those, you NEED to have faith and believe that one or the other is true (some people choose to believe both is true).

The Catholic Church is a far cry from a cult. A cult is a group of people that have and practice beliefs that are extremely outside the cultural norm. Just so you know, the Church is widely accepted in almost every country so don't even think you can get away with calling it a cult.

The people here and especially I don't need to here your little sob story about how you left the Church and how you couldn't keep faith and who you place blame on and all that idiocy. If you have a personal quarrel with the beliefs of the Church, simply don't believe it and keep it to yourself!

You think that the Roman Catholic Church is brainwashing people?! PLEASE! Spare me your shallow mentality for a minute. You want to know what brainwashes people? The media, that's who. Because you get most of your information from the media and accept (since it's on the news or discovery channel or history channel) that it's fact and true. Now who was it that says you're a complete fool if you believe everything you see and hear? Both of us.

The bible isn't a fictional book, but the DaVinci Code is! It's a theological book.

» @ II

I'm sure the pope has more important things to do that play video games. But that doesn't change the fact that he knows about what's going on in the media (this applies to video games as well as all other products, not just the games)

He said nothing bad about video games that lack the senseless immorality and controversial behavior that we see in games like GTA and in a lot of movies that are coming out (sleaziness is abundant in movies and TV nowadays).

What he claimed "perverse" is the TREND of producing products that contain these things in the name of entertainment, and it's even worse when they are directed towards children.

From his quote, i can find nothing wrong about what he said.... because what he said is true. There IS a trend at producing these products in the media that have immoral acts in abundance and people DO portray all the things he's talking about and there are companies that do direct it towards the children (remember Conker's Bad Fur Day from Rare *Nintendo owned company at the time*).

I don't think you're being mean, but you are definitely saying the things i would've a year ago. So i can't say you aren't on the right track, but just remember that this sorta thing is actually out there and it's not just a *thing* that's going around.

The Second Vatican Council was specifically established to help restructure the Catholic Church into a more wholistic institution - that meant it was officially opening its doors to the public for the first time.

That in turn means they refocused their attention more into actually studying how the world works, as comapred to being dogmatic followers of doctrine. It's slow work, given how large the organization is, but at least they're trying.

Most interesting that most of the people casting their stones haven't done any research into this matter. Double for those who criticize and claim to know the bible, when all they've really done is quick-glance some of the juicier pages.
