PlayStation Pornable: more worries from concerned investigators

PSPornNews4Jax has a very amusing article up. Although most of it makes sense, there's just something a bit wrong about it. Here's how it opens:

Investigators warn that a toy on the top of the wish lists of children all over the country this holiday season could be loaded with inappropriate material.

Yep, the wanted item that the article is referring to is the PSP. Honestly we really don't see how much more dangerous the PSP is as a means for getting porn than any other material. You can get porn on cable, on your PC, and on any other handheld that can handle video content. Heck, all they have to do is go to some fan-fiction website and they can find porn there.

According to Jeff Durfee, the assistant director of Information Technology at the University of North Florida, here's what investigators are concerned about: "They're just getting on and downloading the content to PSP like a storage device and taking the video off."

Uh-huh. I bet you, if the kid really wanted to surf porn, and he was away from the PC, he'll borrow daddy's WiFi/Web capable PDA and he'd do the same thing. As weird as the article starts, the good that it did is they were able to put Durfee's "bottom-line" quote in it. He says:

Really, it's like any other thing you would do as a parent. You need to be aware of what your kids are doing online. Of course there have been some slips but those cases are rare

The problem with this one is that given how some "protective" parents tend to overreact, people might jump on this thing and scream "All those internet-capable consoles and those WiFi whatchamacallit portable PS thingies are evil... blah blah blah blah... they let our kids surf porn! Blah blah blah." If you know anyone who'll say that, tell them that if consoles are evil because it lets kids view inappropriate material, so are pencils, because you know, kids can use pencils to draw badly rendered images of gonads on washroom walls. Yeah pencils are duh dehbyl.

Also if you have an "eager to protect" parent, be quick to tell them that most retailers screen used PSPs for pornographic content before resell. Of course there have been some slips, but those cases are rare and are mostly reported and re-told in the internet only because people love to point and laugh.

ooooooo boy so whats the big deal anyway if you ain't gonna let the kids surf the webs by using net nannies and ***** they gonna hack it down or simply download videos via p2p anyway and if you don't let em surf the net they gonna borrow compact disks or removable drives if you don't let em touch the computers they gonna go find your personal digital assistants or your cellphones and if you don't let em touch that either they gonna watch television where you forgot to hide your ppv porn channels and if you did hide them the would watch oprah winfreys episode on how boob implants work or how fat women should show their ligerie off boldly or wtf theyd just watch cartoon network where the wily wolf gets his eyes popped out lookin at the babe with great structure. and if you gonna lock them up in a room and not let them out they gonna imagine it all and wank off anyway ... so wtf is the point???

you do it we do it everyone does it.. suddenly after an age of 18 its legal ?? lol.. everyone finds their way into porn no matter what you do and you cant really stop them once they get used to it.. ( oh cmon you think theyll believe in the magic stork anymore? )

if you really think he shouldnt watch porn get them someone they could deal their sexual enthusiasms in a better socialized way with .. meaning fix them up with someone ( OF THE OPPOSITE SEX ) of the same age!.. that way they wont have time to watch porn

"Of course there have been some slips but those cases are rare". Rare my ass. Almost every parent doesn't know what their children do online, there aren't many parents who monitor their children closely and most guys look at porn and stuff at least once a month or every few months..

PSP pron is so bloody difficult to find online anyways- and the net is sooo slow! ... no point in even trying on the thing - unless you're willing to type in your credit card n stuff....

we need a bit torrent client / p2p client ported for the psp right away!

» Why stop them?

If parents don't teach the kids what's sex, they shouldn't stop them from finding out themself... lol

u can view porn on pretty much anything. these kids just have a lot of hormones pumping right now so their bound to look at porn. Besides u can only view pics on psp. u cant view videos unless u convert them or download them from certain sites (which i wont reveal here)
