PlayStation Network v2.0 to implement policy changes |
We are still uncertain what effect this will have on gamers, but it seems that this is already setting the stage for the release of the PlayStation Eye. The changes also seem to pave the way for official game modifications and user content mods such as those on the upcoming Unreal Tournament 3. A part of the new agreement reads:
You may not take any action, or upload, post, stream, or otherwise transmit any content, language, images or sounds in any forum, communication, public profile, or other publicly viewable areas or in the creation of any Online ID that SCEA, in its sole discretion, finds offensive, hateful, or vulgar.
This includes but is not limited to, any content or communication that SCEA in its sole discretion deems racially, ethnically, religiously, or sexually offensive, libelous, defaming, threatening, bullying or stalking.
Aside from that, it seems that Sony will activate a feature on the PlayStation Network that will allow gamers to share official material such as screenshots of a game:
You hereby authorize SCEA to use, distribute, copy, display, and publish information relating to your game play for gaming purposes including tournaments and ranking, without payment to you.
In addition, you will have the option to post, stream or transmit pictures, photographs, game related materials, or other information through PSN to share with the PSN community ("User Material"), provided no rights of others are violated.
The remaining details discussed in the new contract involve viruses, malwares, and other malicious attacks. We believe that violating these new rules will have consequences so you might want to check the whole changes via our Read link below.

Comments [refresh]
I got this e-mail about the terms of service changing for PSN earlier and was hoping for one of the blogs I frequent to post about something cool being listed in the stuff.
And it was QJ through the help of it's awesome readers who have informed me of what sounds to be some awesome stuff.
If we get anytime screenshot ability and a fewer other nice things (messaging while in game) PSN might be on it's way to being a decent online gaming community.
Here's hoping...
Are you retarded? All this post is about is how Sony will own your content and they can ban you if they don't think it's "appropriate."
@freeplay
Dont Insult People, Respect them!
Cool Stuff is coming, Spector is Right... all the User Agreement is a very common Thing about Copyright, nothing new there and not only a thing Sony does.
Ohhhh Yeah! The PSN is not what I'd call optimized at all! I mean, everything is at the same place and you have to search for the things you want, like the wallpapers :S. Still, it's well done since "at least" they have a place where all the new stuff is poppin. But, it's really cool to know we'll have an update. And not a were 1.1 or 1.2 stuff, but a complete 2.0!
I suppose they'll class things up a lot better, at least I hope so. It's cool that we'll be able to send our stuff and have ranking stuff and others for new games
@freeplay: This rule is useless, they just don't want you to spam the world, dah! everybody know that.. What's important is the new things, like the gameplay uploading stuff (wich was very funny since they said they won't pay us if we post our gameplaystats, LOL).
ps: I almost forgot, but I REALLY hope we're gonna have our own "gamertags" after this!
What about INGAME music, we don't need this sharing trash, thats why we have a pc to do this!
bring on INGAME music!
Your PSN name IS YOUR GAMERTAG!
Freplay is always right, STFU.
I got mail also and it asks me to accept the terms at the end of the agreement but at the end there is nothing. No "i accept" - "i do not accept" part.
I don't get it. Can anybody help me about this?
"All this post is about is how Sony will own your content"
It doesn't say that at all.
"they can ban you if they don't think it's "appropriate.""
And? Your point? If you want to use Sony's service then you HAVE to play by Sony's rules.
Go cry to mommy about it and not here.
I think people are reading into this too much.
For example, you can use a pic on your PS3 to add to a picture on a wall in your Home space. Such actions as adding content to Home is probably all they're talking about. They're covering ALL basis now for any future abilities they might come up with. Video probably wont be for a while.
The fact that they are saying I will have content which can be deemed inappropriate is actually what is good. It means I will have my own content that I will be able to share on the network.
That is why I consider it good news, and am not so short sighted as people like FreePlay. If we are going to be given the ability to create and exchange content on the PSN that will be a step in the right direction to an online community (along with in game messaging).
you accept by using the service.
If for some reason you dont accept you have to contact there customer support via the link that was provided
it probably is achievements. Uncharted had a point system for the game which i think is pointless to say i have 800/1000 points in the game if i cant use them lol
Why not video?
Just a guess. Getting video on the PS3 in a playable format to begin with is not something the average person can do without help.
Maybe when Sony releases their own tools to help people out it will be more "mainstream".
Did you miss this?
You hereby authorize SCEA to use, distribute, copy, display, and publish information relating to your game play for gaming purposes including tournaments and ranking, ***without payment to you.***
You're giving Sony the right to do whatever the hell they want to do with stuff YOU MAKE without giving you a DIME.
They OWN it.
Learn to read, kids.
OMG-- they OWN my rank in a tournament? Dear sweet Jesus! How cruel rfate has mocked me! They can sell the number I was assigned in a contest! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
...Chillax, bra. You're using a free service that someone else upkeeps, you play by their rules, or GTFO.
Play nice; is that so hard?
This contract breaks the law of "freedom of speech". Someone can take this to the supreme court and force sony to change "...in the creation of any Online ID that SCEA, in its sole discretion, finds offensive, hateful, or vulgar.
Examples
1) Someone comes to you house and tells you to F off. You kick them out. Can they sue you for violating their free speech?
2) You're at school and call your teacher a biatch. You get detention. Can you sue them?
3) You're on a plane you scream racial slurs. They say you can't fly and kick you off. Can you sue them?
4) You play an MMORPG and you name is BentJesus. You get banned. Can you sue them?
The answer in all these cases is no. At least you would be unsuccessful, very very unsuccessful. The problem is they own the space. Like your house. So they get to make the rules in their house. Better yet, lets call it their world. Live in your world, play by their rules in theirs. This is a very common line in all MMORPGs now. They are prepping for HOME to come out and needed this new line of agreement because if people are dilholes online they want to kick them out. If someone is a dilhole in my car, their @$$ is rollin down the freeway. Nough said.....
Hey Freeplay what's it like to be a paranoid buffoon who thinks everyone is out to screw him over... cause I've always wondered.
Your the kind of guy who reads a waver for a white water rafting place because you want to make sure there isn't a "...at the end of this river we will then own all of your assets..." you still sign it anyway cause nothing that big a deal is in there. You just wasted everyones time and way to excited or a few smalls things here and there.
What's funnier than a self-righteous moron thinking everyone is screwing them...
2 self-righteous morons thinking everyone is screwing them!
That's like a bunch of kids loitering in front of a no loitering sign saying its freedom of assembly.
There as5 is rolling down the freeway
Lmao
@FreePlay
Obviously you don't comprehend the English language very well.
"information relating to your game play"
"for gaming purposes"
"including tournaments and ranking"
Get your mommy and daddy to help you out with it if you don't believe us. Basically this amounts to Sony using STATS from game play. For example, high scores, how long you play, how many different games you play online.....
Do you get it yet?
Assuming DJmac13 lives in America.....he's what's wrong with the average American.
The amount of ignorance that walks the streets is rather depressing :(
What this guy doesn't understand is that you CAN NOT break a law because of a law. Meaning, while you have "freedom of speech" you CAN NOT infringe on the rights of OTHERS.
The fact that you judge someone just by being american is "ignorant". Im american and understand that there ingnorant people where ever you look, not just in the "average american". Its kinda being racist in a way (just not based on race).
@Eclipze_
I did NOT base anything on anyone BEING an American. I based my comment on HIS OWN WORDS. Then I based his ignorance on his own rights as being typical for the average American.
This is yet another example of someone reading A yet thinking B.
So sad.... :(
i hope sony doesnt perm ban my as5
hey man if ur gonna dis people do it right "Its kinda being racist in a way (just not based on race)" ITS CALLED NATIONALISM YOU FREAKING MORON!! ITS IDIOTS LIKE YOU THAT MAKE ME FEEL ASHEAMED TO BE CALLED AMERICAN
Just because you like a little freezie now and then... weed isn't illegal where I live, what you lace it with might be, but the word weed isn't offensive.
