PlayStation Network cards arriving in North America soon |
Not all gamers are lucky enough to have their own credit card. Heck, some gamers aren't even old enough to be eligible for one. This could present a bigger problem for those who want to pick up some content at the PlayStation Network.
Fortunately, Sony realized this and will be launching the PlayStation Network Card in North America pretty soon. These cards are essentially vouchers which allow individuals to pick up downloadable PS3 and PSP content worth the value of the card.
So far, no details on what denominations will be available but we're pretty sure that there will be a US$ 20 card as seen in the image above taken from Joystiq's PlayStation 3 Fanboy blog.
This looks like a step in the right direction for Sony as it opens up the opportunity for widening the consumer base of its PlayStation Network.
Hopefully, more details on this product surface as we're pretty sure non-card carrying members of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable community would be very interested in picking up some of these.

1st.
this product should had been out a year ago when the system first came out
I don't know why taked so long... but happy that finally they will released it... not for me... but for a lot of people out there that doesn't have credit cards. Maybe finally games downloads will be more better in sales than now and more casual games will be coming to destroy the wii :) (in a long term of course)
This' good so that gamers won't need to be using credit cards. They can just spend these points on from downloading PSN exclusive games.
And the like;
- Game Expansion Packs
look at the official blog...
I'm looking forward to a few things on the PSN, so it's nice these are actually coming out, I was beginning to think Sony wasn't going to release them.
no more credit cards.....i wonder how much each card costs?
that it will be the same at the prize tag in the card.. like itunes card...
sony should not be hyping this, they should instead be apologizing due to the lateness of this thing.
the nintendo wii has this when it launched, xbox live also have this. now after 1 year of ps3 launch sony is just unveiling this? why are you sony ps3 products always late? if ps3 is an employee, it could have fired by now. heck even game stores here in japan dont know what a Playstation Card is!
now on to the good part.
of course sony will also make similar denomination as the japanese counterparts which is not that successful due to POOR marketing and POOR delivery.
Here in Japan we have these at 1000yen, 3000yen, 5000yen and 10000yen.
hence US will also be getting this in 10$, 30$, 50$ and 100$ denominations.
the bad thing is you cannot top-up/load-up your Non US PSN account with these, the good this is you can easily exchange it with people from other territories who wants to buy US PSN DLC. ex i can trade my 1000yen for your 10$ so you can buy from JAP PSN and i can buy from US PSN. catch is the trade is fair but the exchange rate is not. its kind of complicated but not.
in the real world 1000yen is just 8$ but since we are talking PSN currency its a fair trade because the prices in Jap PSN mirrors the US PSN, if you buy SuperStardustHD on US PSN its 8$, if you buy SuperStarStrike HD (same game) on Jap PSN its 800yen, so US will still be getting same worth of DLC in the trade off.
Europe is another story, maybe they'll just cut the denominations in half 5, 15, 25 and 50 europe money.
Some are 20 dollars and some are $50...etc
Its states on the card before you buy them. Good but i want to know when they will come out.
