Play New SOCOM 3 Maps Off Your PSP

Ó

Have you already played all of the SOCOM 3 online maps? Are you ready for a new challenge? That's the question posed in an eSEALs briefing today.

SCEA is making downloadable SOCOM 3 Map Packs available. Some of the most popular SOCOM/SOCOM II maps will be reformatted for play on SOCOM 3 The first Map Pack will include the SOCOM II classic HDD levels After Hours, Liberation and Last Bastion. For only $5.99 you'll get SOCOM/SOCOM II maps updated to support multiple game types (including respawn) and both night and day versions are available. Brand new SOCOM 3 maps are also being created and will be available for download in the near future.

Apparently, you will only be able to purchase the maps in-game by downloading to a compatible USB Mass Storage Device (like a USB Flash/Thumb drive), internal hard disk drive (40GB) for PlayStation 2, or even the PSP system in USB Mode. Of course, the length of the download time will vary based on your Internet connection and the speed of the USB Mass Storage Device used.

All players can use the maps in LAN mode but in order to use it online it has to be purchased with your current SOCOM 3 account. Once purchased, the maps can be downloaded as many times as you like, so no need to worry if you lose your USB Flash/Thumb drive. Note that these maps can only be used for online and LAN gaming, not single player.

Thanks for the tip, Keith Goldrick!

$CEA wants me to spend money on something that I've already bought?

These maps should be free. Especially when $CEA already charged me a fortune for a hard drive that other than the three maps for use with SOCOM II is useless to me. Anyone need a free copy of Final Fantasy: Whatever came with the hard drive? It's never been used! You pay shipping. Get your own HD. I'm not knocking the game, I just don't like it.

I really don't like the fact that I had to buy the game in order to get the hard drive which enabled me to spend more money on only three maps.

Now they want more money for the same thing (don't give me any of that "But you can play Crossroads at night now" weakness either because you should have been able to do that in SOCOM II.

Coward.

# not for FTB!Guest 2006-03-22 14:52
I believe these maps are for use with SOCOM 3, not FTB. You can merely use the PSP as a storage device to connect to the PS2.

# Abandoned?Guest 2006-03-22 16:22
I really hope they got Abandoned during the day time in progressive scan with 32 players!! I've been waiting for that map to resurface since they completely ruined it in part 2.
