Resistance: Retribution's DS3 Conenctivity - Image 1

There's been some confusion over whether the PSP Phat will be able to utilize the PSP Plus in Resistance: Retribution, a feature that will allow the handheld to use the DualShock 3.

The issue came up when the PS Blog posted the image above, which states that you can video out on the PSP Slim and 3000 while on PSP Plus mode, which led to concerns that the Phat won't support PSP Plus. I'm not entirely sure how video out came to be associated with PSP Plus functionality since they're two entirely different features, but it's a valid concern whatever the case.

Bringing light to the situation is PlayStation Community Manager Jeff Rubenstein, who confirmed that the Phat will support PSP Plus for Resistance Retribution. Yay for people who chose to stick with the classic heavy.

if i get this right according to my understand, you get to enjoy the features on psp plus on the phat which connecting it on ps3 and use the dual shock 3, etc. right? and i think the tv out is OUT of the picture for phat since only slim and 3000 are capable. hmmm... sounds like a tedious task for me. what's the benefit if you use the psp plus features anyway besides of course the feature stated above in the pic?

Just the use of the second joystick I think. There's also infected mode if you connect it with resistance 2, but that mode doesn't really benefit that much from the DS3

I don't have R2, so I can't really use this feature. :(

I suck at war games of all sort, not just on the PS3, I kinda hate my future brother in law cause he always kicks my ass in Halo, I just don't get it, easily said, I suck at war games. I got into this one just playing co-op and having fun, point and shoot.

But cause im a huge PSP fan and interested in technology(PS3/PSP connectivity), thought I would take a chance. and by buying both...(circuit city was selling R2 for $36, try telling me a better deal elsewhere) supports the ideas of PS3 and PSP connectivity.

I don't see this as a gimmick to have people buy both(sorta is though, but thats real life, a gimmick), but to buy both and enjoy wicked features for doing so.
