Parliament member Vaz wants to ban Resistance too

Keith Vaz wants to ban Resistance as well - Image 1In recent weeks, two video games have come under fire from various sectors in the society, with some coming from the video game industry itself. If you've been living a rock, these two titles are PlayStation 3's Resistance: Fall of Man, and Manhunt 2 for Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Portable.

The issue with Resistance involves the in-game church that closely resembles Manchester Cathedral in northwest England. The church took offense, Sony said sorry, and the church said it was okay provided that certain conditions will be met.

In Manhunt 2's case, UK authorities banned it for the game's "casual sadism" and it's still up in the air what will happen to its U.S. release. Anyway, the latest development about these two is that Member of Parliament for Leicester East Keith Vaz is very much happy with UK's decision and even referred to the move as "excellent".

He also mentioned that the authorities should ban Resistance in the UK as well. Vaz is no stranger to things like these and were pretty certain that his words do hold some weight. If you are unfamiliar with the guy, he is actually a British Labor Party politician and led the campaign against the original Manhunt back in 2003. We're still not sure how this will turn out, but rest assured we''ll be the first to report any updates regarding this.

» I Guess...

I guess he can't find anything better to talk and debate on? Seriously, ITS A CHURCH!!!!! Just a magestic and beautiful structure! Last time I checked, no one was walking around the streets of Manchester, blowing holes in the cathedral...

OK QJ, no more articles about this, at least until its resolved. Its just a nightmare to see...absolutely ludicrous...

» wow your mad

your just mad that your best game is getting pulled!! hahahahaha you stupid idioot!! oh well you can still get a 360. i know that rfom was the only good game on the ps3 and i feel for you but its time to move on!!

by bopoo - 2007-06-20 04:48
» wtf?

Resistance isn't getting pulled, one politician thinks it should. Also they're not likely to spend the money on getting the millions of people that bought it to give the game back and if they just anned it from being sold anymore then ebay prices would shoot up.

by Pacos - 2007-06-20 04:57
» The fact is

Manhunt was banned because of explicitly violent content(and I mean Violent). The preposition of banning RFOM will not pass, as it incorporates the opinion of the use of a structure in the game in context of violence, which isn't pruportedly against another human being. Seriously xman, there's no reason to bash the ps3 into oblivion. The X360 and PS3 sit happily next to each other in my household, looking upon the Wii with a smile. A real gamer enjoys what all consoles have to offer...

Xman you're such a retard..

This is about some *****tards trying to pull some games for no reason. And all you can think about with your childish mind is about x360 and PS3 losing its 'only' great game. Grow up fool >_>

by SlavedHeart - 2007-06-20 05:45
» Wow, flame bait if ever their was...

This is so funny... people will take any opportunity to make every thing a xbot vs ps3 battle. This is soley about trying to make a name for ones self, and many of you take it as if it was the end of the console wars. Now, for those not in the know, Manchester is almost war-torn due to it's violence and crime rates (at least in comparison to the rest of England). So this is strictly someone trying to find a scapegoat for the crime that they can't stop by other means. You all need to relax a bit and pop your favorite 5.5 inch into your favorite system and get your game on instead of bantering about how this rearranges the world stage.

by Manny151 - 2007-06-20 05:47
» Well said Pacos

Although I still prefer my PS3 over the other two. I actually wanted the PS3 first but couldn't get my hands on it so settled for the 360. Later on in late December 06 I had a chance to get a PS3 and I did. Now all I'm missing is the Wii which I'll get before years end. And to stay in subject there is no way Resistance is going to get pulled.

» Keith Vaz King of the Bandwagon

Keith Vaz will happily jump on any bandwagon that passes by, he is an attention seeking whore! He was trying to get Big Brother banned not so long ago, having admitted that he hadn't been watching the incidents, he has probably never played a computer game and now he is trying to get them banned. The problem is the people of Leicester seem to be so stupid that they keep voting him back in.

OMG it's the british version of Jack Thompson!!!

by David - 2007-06-20 08:29
» who gives a flying *****?

Its so pathetic that people are getting in over there heads about such a dumb thing. Seriosly, its a *****ing church theres no way you could sue someone because of that, and another thing, Keith Vaz could go die in a plane crash.

by - - 2007-06-20 09:19
» Correction...

The people of EAST Leicester are so stupid. Don't go around applying a blanket to the whole of Leicester!

WESTSIDE FTW! (Even though I'm from the Blaby district).

» Ludicrous

This is absolutely ridiculous. Do none of these political ball-ticklers understand what censorship is? It's not taking away the inalienable right to free speech and artistic merit, it's being able to rate and deem these works of art accordingly. I hate it when they're heard to say "Well, kids are going to get their hands on these games whether the parents let them or not..." NO THEY ARE NOT! And if children under the age of 18 DO get their hands on them... IT IS THE PARENTS FAULT... or... the parents allowed it to happen, which is perfectly fine. It is not OK to tell people what they can or cannot see, play, do or speak. Keith Vaz is an old fashioned, out of touch moron who only cares about votes... don't go thinking he gives a $hit about your children... he doesn't. Wow, this comment is all over the place.

by eaglebaize - 2007-06-20 10:27
» Hmm...

Sounds like Jack Thompson's foreign twin. Resistance will NOT be banned, so no need to get all worked up about it.

by Enkei Xpress - 2007-06-20 11:01
» Listen..

If that guy with the geeky glasses does ban resistance, I will personally hunt him down and slaughter him... No joke.

by JC - 2007-06-20 11:53
» R:FOM Bann.. lol

WOW, this guy is special! Lets be honest here, this is just a video game, it was between the church and Sony and they have resolved the situation. Do they ban Science fiction books or movies that show different places in the world ... almost never! As for Leicester East Keith Vaz, there are other ways to get noticed, stop being a moron.

by Hellraiser - 2007-06-20 23:21
» .

They should ban Motorstorm too. Charging $60 for an incomplete game. You have to wait and pay extra to download more content to get a complete game. It's a crime! Ban this game!

by PS3 Fantard - 2007-06-20 23:23
» .

You should wait until he goes into the church to make the kill. That will get the point across Resistance is non violent.

by jx1 - 2007-06-21 03:02
» lol!

lol on PS3 Fantard's remark.

by formotion - 2007-06-21 04:34
» My idea...

Let's give this b.i.t.c.h some reasons to propose a RFoM ban, somebody take his RFoM BD out of its box and cut the drama queen's -insert body part here- with it so 'she' can argue the game is bad
