One-hour standoff at GameStop ends peacefully, two suspects arrested |

About an hour before the 9PM closing time, two guys went into the
GameStop on Kruse Drive in Solon, Ohio. Oh they weren't there to
pre-order Killzone 2, those guys were out to mug the place dry before the close for the day.Just before 8PM last Saturday, police got a call from the Macedonia Gamestop, telling them that two armed guys in hoodies and ski masks have entered the Solon Gamestop. Lucky for the Solon branch, their manager was on the phone with the manager from the Macedonia store, who was able to call the cops on the two suspects.
When the police arrived, one of them was still inside the store, while the other was trying to make a run for it on the roof. Since they were informed that the guys were armed, they call in the SWAT for backup. At about 8:30PM, one of the robbers called the police saying he wanted to give up. Eventually, the other one was apprehended as well, but they didn't release the names.
The whole thing lasted about an hour, but thankfully, no shots had to be fired, no one got hurt, and the standoff ended peacefully.
Interestingly enough, it wasn't the first time for that particular GameStop. It was the third attempt on that store for the past 12 months, while other businesses in the shopping districts have been targeted as well.
This GameStop deal is still good:

And as for money, the tills usually don't have that much in them since most people pay with trade-in credit or debit/credit cards for $100+ purchases.
All that'd be worth going through the trouble of stealing would be a few consoles and Rockband/Guitar Hero bundles. And I can't see how 2 guys could get all those out of the store and into a vehicle before cops arrived.
If it were me, I'd try my luck at the Advance America next store instead...

The GameStop isn't the only victim. This sounds more like a case of an easy and frequently chosen target.

The point remains, that, there are many other stores worth sticking up than a Gamestop. Since stealing video games usually doesn't require the use of a gun. Or anything but a mouse and keyboard.
And as I said, they don't have much cash in the till either. In fact, a coffee shop would be more likely to have more cash on hand than a game retailer.
