Secret of Evangelion - Image 1

If you're an Evangelion fan, would it matter if the content you're viewing would be in English or Japanese? Well, in this case, you wouldn't have a choice, now would you? The Japanese site for Secret of Evangelion (PSP, PS2) is up and running, connected to the NERV systems, and all that.

Gainax and Cyber Front's title is set up for a June 28 release in Japan, and while everyone is suspended in animation for some confirmation of a Western version, the site allows us see what we would be missing. You can check out some character profiles and other screenshots from the game. There's also a rather interestingly appealing "Special" section: sketches of Rei and Asuka looking cute and hentai-y.

They need to release it over here, something is wrong with the publishers if they don't. Hope this coincides with a new Neon Genesis movie said to be in the works. That End of Neon Genesis was almost a sensory overload.

These games are usually terrible dating/relationship simulators with a few bits of combat thrown in for show. I'm an Eva fan, but I just can't stand most of these games.

check out Eva Battle Orchestra

» Wow, such misinformation

Well, let's go over the errors so far.

QJ:

1.) Probably would have been useful to identify the game's genre.

2.) The correct phrase for "hentai-y" is Ecchi, and those pictures aren't ecchi either. Common in Japan, it's known as Fan Service, and these are prototypical sketches of Evangelion themed phone cards.

Anonymous:

1.) Didn't register (On Slashdot we call you guys "Anonymous Cowards")

2.) While SOME (not all) of the Evangelion games have been dating sims, there are a decent number of titles, including the Battle Orchestra link you give, that are combat-based. This title, however, seems like it might be an interactive novel (if Google Translate is anywhere near accurate)

It's highly unlikely we'll ever see this state-side. Evangelion-mania doesn't really seem to exist here, and given the track record of previous Evangelion titles being localized...

BTW, am I the only one who was severely aggravated that in both the Secret Of... and Battle Orchestra sites, neither one even cared to mention or show a hint of PenPen? I mean, PenPen was the GREATEST CHARACTER EVER! ;)
