NPD's April numbers are in: GTA4 sells 2.85 million, didn't move Xbox 360, PS3 sales as expected |

Though market expectations were generously high for the month of April, NPD Group's monthly sales report depicts a less than stellar roundabout for the next-generation console race. Estimates climbed as high as 2,201,500 next-gen units sold, but the market only managed to push 1,969,800 units over the counter.
And the largest contributor to that statistic once again is the Nintendo Wii (36%), which rounded up cash from 714,000 sales within the month of April. It performed better than the estimated 688,100 unit-selling point.
The Xbox 360 just managed to lead by several hundred units against the PlayStation 3 with 188,000 versus 187,100, but both fell short of the estimates set by market analysts. It was expected that both platforms would hit all time highs, but unfortunately, Grand Theft Auto IV's (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) stellar sales didn't drive more to join in on the action.
The DS dropped some 180,000 units behind the predicted 600,100 unit selling point with 414,800, while the PSP fell short of the 257,700 unit estimate with 192,700 units sold in April.
Software numbers aren't great either, as NPD results show that the growth of sales for games has not reached the market expectations. The anticipated software sales drivers, Mario Kart and Grand Theft Auto IV, are now thought to have cannibalized sales of other games and mostly underperformed in sales.
Mario Kart, however, performed as well as the market expected it to do.
Even if sales didn't reach an optimistic US$ 978.4 million, it managed to rack up US$ 654.7 million for April - a 68% year-on-year rise. The hardware and software sales figures in quick summary are as follows (arranged by rank):

Nintendo really does own this generation, hardware AND software!

However, MS's roster isn't entirely empty. 3 good - GeOW2, Fable2 and NG2 - games isn't bad. I don't include Too Human there as it seems (to Me) more like overhyped trash that MS and/or Silicon Knights is talking up to make the 2008 exclusives roster sound better. But otherwise, 360 lineup sounds good too.

And? That's pathetic.
900 units is so close there's no way to know to know for sure. There's already a margin for error of at least 5% which accounts for 142,500 units. Which means the results are worthless.
It's also important to note that NPD does NOT receieve results from ALL retailers. Some of them are pretty big.
However, I'd like to take this time to point out your hypocrisy. In another new article you whined and cried about how SALES don't matter. Yet here you are cheering on sales.
Are you ever going to grow up?

Yep.....That's Mr. Common Douche Bag for ya...

The reason GTA didn't move consoles is because pretty much 90% of people who were going to get GTA had already bought there console and were waiting for it......or they bought it months ago when they thought GTA was near release......this is no surprise to me...

1.24 versus 1.49...that's about even if consider not 100% of each will buy GTA4.

"360 sold just about twice as many copies as PS3"
Not even close. What numbers are you looking at? You're about 1.4 million off for that to be correct.

I don't think we should let that small percent of people who want to pay screw everyone else (people who love not paying) over.

That makes the ratio a little worse (for the PS3) but it's still some what in line. That could account for DLC or not. If it was at least 2:1 I'd say DLC affected it. But it's not.
Otherwise, unless you interview each owner.....

2nd is, it does not matter what ther "per capita" attach rate was....bottom line is almost twice as many copies were sold on 360....and that's what MS said and that's what I said.....

2. You want praise because you repeated what MS said? Why?
3. ALMOST what someone said.... oh please! Almost aint good enough.
4. Per capita had nothing to do with "attach rate" so I guess your "reading comprehension" isn't all that great either.
