This year's September software sales hasn't quite reached the levels of last year's Halo 3-driven numbers, going down 6% for overall sales of US$ 616 million. Nevertheless, some multiplatform and first-party titles have managed to post impressive figures.

Despite some backlash from critics, LucasArts' multiplatform release, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PSP, DS) still sold over a million copies, half of which was for the game's Xbox 360 version.

Nintendo's Wii Fit also continued to put up some big numbers along with EA's Rock Band 2 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii).

Here are the top ten games in terms of units sold for September:
  1. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Xbox 360) - 610,000
  2. Wii Fit (Wii) - 518,000
  3. Rock Band 2 (Xbox 360) - 363,000
  4. Mario Kart (Wii) - 353,000
  5. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (PS3) - 325,000
  6. Mercenaries 2 (Xbox 360) - 297,000
  7. Wii Play w/Wii-mote (Wii) - 243,000
  8. Madden NFL 09 (Xbox 360) - 224,000
  9. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Wii) - 223,000
  10. Madden NFL 09 (PS2) - 158,000

Wow! I can't believe Wii Fit is STILL stomping brand new titles. That's insane!

I guess all the idiots that claimed Wii Fit was a POS and nothing but a gimick were...well...WRONG!

Wink, wink, hint, hint, nudge, nudge.

It's good to see this game doing well for consoles. The iPhone version they created was total CRAP!
