No more Grand Theft Scratchy for The Simpsons Game? |
Ó
It came to our attention that the webpage dedicated to the parody Grand Theft Scratchy from Electronic Arts' The Simpsons Game has been changed. While the said changes are not reflected on the trailer videos and screenshots yet, the trailer itself is now being referred to as "Mob Rules".It should be remembered that this started in early October when EA Lead Designer for The Simpsons Game Greg Rizzer commented that some companies are not particularly happy with their spoofs. It looks like that the company being referred to by Rizzer is no other than Rockstar Games.
This became clearer when he commented, "If we make fun of Grand Theft Auto, we're not going to hurt the sales of Grand Theft Auto. But yeah, we've definitely had some reactions - we've had to pull stuff from the game." The designer was able to comment regarding the things that they had to remove.
We guess we will all know when The Simpsons Game launches on October 30 for platforms Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation 2. For now, check out the "new" Mob Rules trailer by clicking the Read link below.

that sucks..
The company I LEAST thought that would complain was Rockstar. whiners..
anyway. I didn't see much of a difference. which is great ^^
Rockstar is just pissy because EA can get an GTA game out faster than they can.
I guess cops should stop using the term huh?
Even the news have the titles, I mean, in canada, the TQS channel have a kind of "urban gang crimes" little section and it's written with the exact same font that GTA use, and written excatly the same way...
Anyway, I don't care, I suppose it's good since this way maybe less people will say that their games is "the symbol" or violence in games.
ps: I'm gonna buy GTA4 at launch on PS3 anyway.
"The designer was able to comment regarding the things that they had to remove."
sHouldn't it be "The designer was UNable to comment regarding the things that they had to remove."
Since I can't see any comments by him.
Why would Rockstar make a big deal about something fun? I don't believe that is the reason. I think that marketing is the real reason. They may think that parents won't buy the game for their kids if they find out about the parody of this. Also the rating system might have to make it rated M for that portion or something. I don't know but I do find it hard to believe that Rockstar would make a big stink about it.
Most overrated piece of crap EVER! It's just the same game with a different story. I hate when people pump the cash cow, and Rockstar is obviously doing this when they don't want anyone else to use their properties as satire. =P
maybe they didn't want to be made fun of in the most unfunny way of the year. Seriously the new Simpsons game is gonna be a huge flop. Oh "Super Fun Fun wotever" that is so funny. Where do the writers get these ideas from. I was holding my sides for 6 hours after I saw that. THE SIMPSONS WRITERS LOST THE PLOT ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO.
I think he's saying it for some attention...I mean really how many times have we seen companies take shots at Rockstar and then instead of complaining, Rockstar just makes fun of them in GTA. Driver and True Crime are the first two games I think of. Even if they did ask them not to do it, the Simpson Game devs could've gone ahead with it anyways
Dude i know its your opinion but ive got to say give it a chance. I know the series has gotten stale but i played the demo and i was pretty impressed. it was witty, fun and had good gameplay. yea changing into bartman might seem stupid but you get over the fact that it's a character that the series phased out 10 years ago and just flow with it. BTW there is no plot to the simpsons tv show it's just a bunch of randomness.
First of all, I totally understand something hurting sales. If you were in the position where something was either A) Lowering your sales, or B) Actions that could cause future harm to your business, then you would act too. Althogh in this case, wouldn't it seem that forcing one company to surrender part of their design because you are in fear that it will hurt your business on a product not even released yet, BULL*****? Is it just me, or does it even make sense in any way how obvious paradies have ever been held legally as direct attacks. You can't prove a parody. Not by text laws. I'm very sure in this case that it's a parody but it isn't even making fun of the game, rather a spin-off. But even so, if Rockstar believes that this hurts the franchise of the greatest series of games they have ever concieved, then they are truely no longer the same company I once thought they were. Aren't they the ones pushing the envelope on every censorship law in media? Now look at this irony: Rockstar just censored another company.
***** off.
i lol'd at the "super happy fun fun" trailer... maybe you just lost your sense of humor 10 years ago...
