No Games for Tom Cruise's Kids

TCMission Impossible star Tom Cruise is strict when it comes to digital entertainment; he apparently forbids his two kids from playing games and watching television. His two kids, Isabella (13) and Connor (11), are supposed to help around the house instead of wasting their time with those activities.

And although they have teachers at home, they're encouraged to spend more time outdoors.
"The kids have no computer games. And absolutely no television. None," he said.

He defends this decision by saying, "They can listen to music and read just about any book they want, and they can choose the movies they want to see on the weekends, within reason. They also have chores, because I want them to know that it's important to work. I had a job when I was eight years old delivering newspapers. So for me, it's like: You want a clean room? Then you've got to clean your room. No one is going to do it for you."

It's good to teach them to do stuff themselves, but no videogames and TV? What!? Thank goodness Tom Cruise isn't my dad!

When they grow up they will have no idea how to use computers or navigate in the digital world. They end up to need help from others to use or install new electronics!

LAWL i dont think he really forbids them. Hes probably just trying to push the idea that hes a good parent and hes trying to do it in the most wholesome ways. In all honesty i bet he probably sees his 10year old kids 1-2 hours a week. I heard his kids are addicticed to cocaine and meth. Just a thought lawl

At #28:

"Scientology is a system of beliefs and practices created by American pulp fiction[1] author L. Ron Hubbard in 1952 as a self-help philosophy. By 1960 Hubbard had redefined it as a "religion by its basic tenets". [2] The Church of Scientology, by far the largest organization promoting the belief system of Scientology, is sometimes referred to simply as "Scientology"."

I enjoy his movies, but the guy is a complete A$$!

I watched TV and played games and you know what? I had a clean room all the time!!! So what the hell is his point!?!?!?!?!

The only conclusions I can derive from his comments is that people who watch TV and play games are:

1. lazy

2. don't clean their room

3. know nothing of work

4. never do household chores

I give him the one finger salute!

Not letting your kids watch TV or play video games is pretty harsh, especially in a digital-dominant/dependent world. But, that's not too bad.

Imagine the ***** kids would have to go through if their folks are vegetarians.

No. 35, you and I may be 1 out of 5 gamers who do that kinda *****, so cheers to you. Just about everyone else don't know ***** except for running up on forums and flaming the ***** out of it in order to make themselves feel a little better about themselves. Have some kids and try gaming around 24/7, I bet you'd be as crazy as Tom Cruise and Scientology.

F L. Ron Hubbard

F all his clones

Tom Cruise should fly home to outerspace where he came from. He is such a smart guy, i mean he actually believes the idea that Earth is a "prison planet", maintained by "entheta [evil] beings" or Targs who dumped their enemies on Earth. Ok buddy. I think razor blades are a bit easier to swallow.

So he was a paper boy at age 8, great, that dosen't change the fact that he still sucks a *****. Nobody likes this POS.(exept rosie o'donald - nuff said)

If you want a clean room, clean it, cause nobody else will? More like - Act like you know every-f'ing-thing, "work" "hard" as an actor, raise your kids sheltered from reality, and set those demon spawns on the world, Then and only then you can fly to space with the Xenu the dark lord.

The antichrist is coming... it wasnt saddam after all , its gonna be his kids in a few years.

BTW , Acting is such a demanding job, i really have a deep respect for those hard working fkers in hollywood. They really deserve all those millions for remembering words and smiling. Dont get me wrong, memorizing isnt for everyone. but um, he didnt get his break from hard work.. he got his cause his "pretty face" , and he could suck a mean one.

just find and watch the southpark episode 'trapped in the closet' it's in the ninth series. it will tell you all you need to know about scientology.

he's always been crazy, but he has lots of money so people still idolise him... it's a strange world isn't it?

I also know a dude that was home-schooled. Wasn't alowed to play games, watch Tv or watch movies over a G ratting until he was 16.

He is now the most amazing guitarist i have ever personally known and got a brain to boot. Hes a hippy.

But i do think it would suck... afterall my parents let me watch R movies and play Games as far back as my memory permits.

of a person who didnt have a TV until 14. Now 18, he is the least social person i know, he lacks any form of social skills, constantly lies, and thinks he is king S*** despite everyone else giving him clear hints that he is unliked (he doesnt get it, and responds with things like 'yeah, your mumma')

Also, scientology is full of *****. it was founded by a science fiction writer who studied ripping people off for their religious beliefs. His own son says he is full of it.

Perhaps some good will come out of Tom restricting his kids to watch tv and play video games. However, I disagree with this kind of tactic. My father always taught me and my brother to live a "balanced' life. Have fun while you're young and able, but also make sure you take care of your priorities and work towards becomming a responsible adult. Video games and tv won't pay the bills when you're living on your own, but having a lack of entertaining activities will quite possibly drive you insane during those most stressful moments.
