No disconnection for Sony Connect

It is a given fact that Sony decided to re-organize its online music store Sony Connect to cater more to its PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable user base. However, people are now speculating that the said service will soon be terminated.

Sony reiterated the other day that Sony Connect will continue to operate. Currently, there are around 90 different positions being held by various employees in Sony Connect. Although one representative from Sony Connect who wishes to be anonymous said that around 20 of those will be phased out.

It has also been reported that the head of the store division Steve Banfield will be leaving in a couple of weeks. All of these began when the official site of Sony Connect was updated and began sporting announcement of compatibility with the PSP.

The company has yet to inform the public regarding the scope of the layoffs and how it will ultimately affect console owners.
